• What's been powering that computer in the decade since home electricity stopped being a thing?
• Why was Mr. Goldsmith keeping the nature of the "old man" a secret to begin with? Had he been ''honest'' with the townsfolk, they wouldn't have ultimately sided with Major General and eaten the contaminated food.
  • It's mentioned that the townsfolk have disobeyed the warnings before, so perhaps Mr. Goldsmith WAS going to tell them, but when he saw how short-sighted they could be, he felt lying to them and adding an element of "secret wisdom" to it was the only way they'd listen at all.
• Instead of riding in broken cars drawn by horses, why don't they just ditch the car and ride the horse itself?
  • Possibly to carry cargo.
