In episode 4, when Edamame asks Salazar if staying in the mob is really in Tom's interest, he basically tells him that he should leave the mob. This falls flat when you realise that, even if Salazar tried, he probably couldn't. The Mob is known for occasionally getting rid of members who left/tried to leave the mob so they wouldn't snitch on them to the police, and it is likely Cassano isn't any different. If Salazar actually did try to leave, Cassano would likely threaten, or even kill him, and possibly his son, so it's a good call the gang put Cassano behind bars and ended his operation.
