With almost as many surnames as people, the Rahals (named after the current surname used by their matriarch, Khalidah) are a family with a strong history of possessing abilities. What marks them out when set alongside other prominent families on Eclipse - such as the Johessmans or the Kilvaynes - is that nearly all of them have some form of immortality-granting ability.
Common tropes across the majority of the Rahals...
- Ancient Tradition: The rule of thumb which the immortal Rahals have followed - due to it being passed from one generation to the next - is that a life of periodic transience is near-mandatory. With their longevity going hand-in-hand with eternal youth, a lesson drummed into them by their parents is that even something as innocuous as their continued presence in one place is enough to breed suspicion. As well as moving from place to place, Rahals are known to change their names as they go.
- The Ageless / Really X Years Old: Any Rahal who scores themselves a lifespan-extending superpower gets this as part of the deal.
- However, even with such a strong genetic heritage, it's not guaranteed that a Rahal's offspring scores themselves such a capability. For instance, Nireva has had 22 children during her lifetime, but only seven manifested a form of immortality.
- Healing Factor: The immortal members of the family are renowned for being "ridiculously hard to kill". While decapitation can - and has in the past - killed a Rahal just as effectively as any other human being, they're usually able to resist and get back up from most grievous injuries.
