Awesome / Return of the Shield Deku

Go To

  • Izuku is much more capable by the time of the U.A. Entrance Exam due to his adventures in Melromarc, able to gain 23 Villain Points in spite of his nonexistent Attack Stat by utilizing his abilities in creative ways, such as using Shield Prison to crush a Three Pointer.
  • While not shown, Raphtalia reduces the Zero Pointer in her zone to a smoldering wreckage, rationalizing that she has fought bigger.
  • Izuku, remembering rumors about a detective who has a Lie Detector Quirk and realizing Raphtalia and Filo would be in danger if people learned they were from another world, trains them to talk around it, giving technical truths while leaving the exact details vague. It works.
  • Itsuki publicly calls out Izuku’s trial as a sham, even standing up to the King and calling out his blatant bias.
  • Raphtalia, who at this point is still terrified of fighting, manages to kill the Two Headed Black Dog with one hit by severing an artery and causing it to bleed out, all to protect Izuku.
  • Despite knowing full well how risky it is due to having her Slave Crest removed, Raphtalia doesn’t hesitate to chew Motoyasu out after he forces Izuku into a rigged duel against his will, calling out his hypocrisy and refusal to listen to reason, even breaking his nose and slapping him hard enough to send him to the floor.
  • Both Itsuki and Ren call out Malty for her blatant cheating in the duel, as well as the King for allowing it to happen.
  • Raphtalia sasses the King as she and Izuku are leaving the castle, infuriating him.
  • Izuku had apparently dominated the duel from the very beginning thanks to his analysis skills, with even the Queen’s Shadows being impressed and stating that he would have won outright if not for Malty falsely accusing him of cheating.
  • Thanks to the Queen’s Shadows preventing Malty’s mages from interfering in Izuku’s race with Motoyasu, Izuku is able to win almost effortlessly.
  • During the villain attack at USJ, which in this continuity happens not just without Izuku (who is in class 1-B here) but with additional Nomu attacking, some 1-A students manage not only to create an opening for Iida to run away and call for reinforcements, but actually take Kurogiri down.
