• Michael Moore once decided to visit all the states of the US that have anti-sodomy laws in a giant, pink RV filled with gay men, and it all culminated with an interview with infamous Westboro Baptist Church leader Fred Phelps... with awesome results.
• Depending on your views of the Iraq War, his speech at the 2003 Oscars can count as this.
• You may hate his politics and question his actions, but producing some of the highest grossing documentaries of all time is no small feat (especially as most of his documentaries have been critically well-received).
  • Made all the more awesome by the fact that Moore made Roger and Me with no formal film school education or training. Michael made the most successful American documentary of all time (only to be beaten at the box office by two of his own later movies).
• The fact that he's managed to produce two documentaries in complete secrecy and spring them on public at exactly the right moment when their subject matter is most fertile.
• How much this qualifies as "awesome" depends on your politics, but he was one of the few people to not only correctly predict the 2016 election, but the tipping-point states as well.
