• Jessop managing to convince the suicidal Hillary to go on a dangerous mission instead of killing herself. Given that she cannot be persuaded (at that point in time) that she has anything to live for, he instead manages to persuade her that she'd find the mission a "far more amusing" way to die. She undergoes it, regains her will to live, and earns her Happy Ever After.
