Awesome / Changeling

  • The entire third act, as Northcott is captured and sentenced to death, and the police force is disgraced in court by Collins' attorney, S.S. Hahn.
  • Hahn himself counts as a crowning character of awesome. The film's first two acts are difficult to watch due to the blatant injustice that Collins suffers, but then she is released from the institution and the third act is a powerhouse of justice against the police force led by Hahn. It's an incredibly satisfying conclusion, remarkably so given that the film ends with Christine still without her son.
  • Hahn comes to the institute that Christine was unfairly imprisoned in and releases ALL the women held there under the designation "Code 12", where the women were imprisoned unfairly by the police. Christine stands behind him and the look on her face is nothing less than satisfaction.
  • After Collins has continually been browbeaten and gaslit by the police, with them releasing an article declaring her an unfit mother (and bringing in a police-hired doctor to claim that the kidnapping had made her son's spine shrink to explain the imposter's height change and that the "kidnapper" had her son circumcised), things are hard for Christine. However, her son's dentist reveals that the boy is lacking a tissue that Walter has in his upper jaw (which would have needed surgery the imposter lacks any signs of having) and says in no uncertain terms "Hell yes" when Christine asks if he'll sign a paper confirming this fact. He also leaves the fake Walter to suffer a bit after filling two cavities to punish him for him lying to everyone.
  • Christine brings the fake Walter to his classroom and her son's teacher makes it clear that she believes if it is him, he has "changed enormously". She quickly pokes holes in his story, as this Walter neither remembers her name, nor where he sits in class. She turns to Christine and says that she'll eat her yardstick if it's her son and, without prompting, says she'll sign any paper and testify in a court of law or to the president if that's what's required. Christine's grateful smile says it all.
