Any hopes of weird glitches or my name being TEST are quashed when I start a new game and I see the familiar face of Professor Birch. As I am entirely unsure of what glitches do or how they affect anything, I'm not too fazed.
I choose the boy and name myself my real name (those who play or read WAAPT already know it). Without further ado, I am dropped unceremoniously into the back of a moving van and brought into Littleroot Town, a small town that, while quaint, looks incredibly boring. I can't say it'll remain in my thoughts throughout my journey.
After setting my clock and watching my dad on TV, I'm encouraged to meet the professor next door. Upon entry, however, I find only a woman who tells me that her daughter is upstairs. When I go up, I see a Pokeball on the floor. Just as I begin to inspect it, May bursts in and introduces herself, telling me that she heard about me from her father before dashing off to help him in the field. We have just been introduced to the most boring rival in the world.
