Law Edition Chapter 5 - ...Someone Else Is Not

Kama: Fufufufufu... It begins. Throughout our second foray into the vortex of time, Young Master Drake has become convinced that he has been returned here, to the Schwartzwelt to save his friends. It seems that in making different choices this time he has managed to at least salvage the girl... the Woman Cloaked in Sun, but up ahead is his other companion, that great red dragon of a man called Jimenez. His career is at least as intriguing as that of the Young Master's. This is a man with no love for the world; I doubt the world had much love for him, either. Still, the principle of saving humanity through damning it is highly interesting. Let us see whether the Young Master's mission of peace can save the say THIS time!

Jimenez is once again at the same place he was last time. On every route there's a boss at this part of basement five; both Neutral and Law have Jimenez, but Chaos actually has Mastema, believe it or not - this is actually the way to "legally" obtain him, rather than cheat with a password like I did, heh heh...

Anyway, time for the confrontation and stuff.

Drake: Crewman Jimenez, I... knew I'd be meeting you here. I'm going to have to ask you to come with me - you're a human first and foremost, no matter how much you love demonkind.

Unfortunately, Jimenez isn't in the mode for negotiation. What's strange is he says basically the same thing on Law as on Neutral, indicating that you're either with him or against him. Very Anakin Skywalkeresque.

=BOSS: SOIL JIMENEZ=

Level 70. Strong Gun, Drain Fire, Weak Ice, Null Light, Null Dark

Drake: Wh-what is THAT?

Frost Ace: Well, this sure her-didn't happen last time-ho...

Jimenez has fully embraced the demonic and is now a towering full-blooded demon, apparently made, given his title, of the very stuff of the Earth itself. He's big, he's bad, he's well past the Talking the Monster to Death stage and... he's inexplicably far easier than his half-demon form. Yes, seriously.

What you're going to see a lot of is his personalized buff move "Left Hand," which is basically Luster Candy with a fancy name. As such, it buffs all of his parameters, and apparently, if he reaches the max of +4 buffs, it's only then that he'll unleash his really nasty moves, like Chaos Tack and the Almighty-element Dark Energy.

Drake: This is... strange. He's gearing up for something big, I can tell...

High Pixie: I wonder... does he even want to fight...?

Obviously, letting any boss getting up to +4 is something all but the most inexperienced of players should know not to do, so if you simply don't do that, congratulations, Jimenez will now use neither of his strongest attacks. You'll still have to put up with his Physical attack, though, which hits the entire party for not-small damage.

Jimenez: Yo, Drake!

Drake: J-Jimenez? You're... talking to me?

Jimenez: Duh. Never figured you for the holy sort, though. Goin' to be honest, I see you as the worst kind of traitor. Sorry, but it's true. Never had much patience for religion. Bunch of hypocrites, all of those holy types.

Drake: You've got to listen to me, Jimenez. I've found a way to ensure that the Schwartzwelt will never come again without killing anyone! I can see why you've chosen your path, but what you want to do will massacre most of the planet just for not being strong enough! You can't solve problems this big with violence, man!

Jimenez: Hey, at least I'm honest, man! Those religious types and angels, they say they want to bring peace, but almost everything they've done throughout history has been wars and massacres. All I want it to give humans back what they had at the beginning. That so wrong?

Once you're reduced his HP to half, Jimenez starts using probably the only threatening move he'll use, Shuffler, which attempts to hit the entire party with Bomb. This sounds nasty, but it's not 100% accurate and the turn afterward he'll probably just buff again. It can be cured with Amrita or Dis-Bomb.

Drake: Think of what we'd give up, though, Jimenez! We've made the world so much better with our technology, and have formed bonds between one another it'd be impossible for cavemen to have! Do you really want to throw all that out?

Jimenez: We all gotta make sacrifices, dude. Personally, the one you've made is more messed up!

Drake: At least I'm not... killing people...

Eventually, after you whittle away all of his rather large amount of HP, he will fall. Really, the greatest danger in this fight is tedium.

Power: Mourn not, Sir Drake; some people are just so far gone the most merciful option is to put them down...

Drake: Just... give me some space. I'm not in the mood. Wh-what's that?

(DRAKE notices a small, metallic object near the fallen JIMENEZ. He picks it up - a set of military dog tags)

Drake: Hector... Warrant Officer Hector Jimenez... I just realized I never got his first name...

CRASH CRASH CRASH

I never even knew her...

...knew her...

...knew her first name..

I'd like someone to tell me it was worth saving, please!

CRASH CRASH CRASH CRASH

Thoth: I heard that knockin' sound the kid was talkin' about. I guess he ain't goin' nuts after all...

Kama: I heard it too... what do you think it is, Sir Sage?

Thoth: Not anythin' pleasant, that's fer sure. I'll consult with the Ladies Norn...

Zelenin calls after the battle, telling him that although Jimenez was a friend, Drake should acknowledge that he was too far gone and press on.

Drake: Ze- Irina...

Mithras: Alright, THAT'S IT! Hey, BITCH! Get over here. NOW.

To be continued...

I think you've captured Jimenez's voice perfectly. Great job. Boss Banter really should've been included in the Jimenez and Zelenin boss fights.

Also, is it just me, or do the demons that get the most characterization in your liveblogs all have names starting with 'M?' We had Mastema, Minotaur, and now Mithras...

Thanks on Jimenez!

As for Mithras, he is, in my opinion, the best characterized of the Four Tyrants, so absent a playable Lucifer he was my choice for a "spokesman for Chaos" among Drake's demons.
