Technically, we're going to Menae, which is one of Palaven's moons. The mission is called Priority: Palven though so that's what I'm going with for the title.
Normandy's shuttle pilot. STEEEEVE!!!1 Cortez drops the squad right outside the main turian camp on Menae. Fail Shep fights off some husks and meets up with General Corinthus, who informs him that Primarch Fedorian was killed a few days ago during a failed attempt to get him off Menae. Corinthus can't figure out who the new Primarch is because the local radio tower is down.
After fixing the radio tower, Fail Shep returns to Corinthus, who informs him that the new Primarch is one Adrian Victus, a general known for his unorthodox tactics. Joker contacts Fail Shep to tell him that the Normandy is experiencing massive techincal glitches. If Garrus were alive, this would serve as an excuse for Liara to return to the Normandy to keep the two party member limit. Since Garrus took one rocket to the face too many, Shepard tells Joker that he'll deal with it after he gets Victus.
After fending off an attack on the base, Fail Shep goes after Victus. Along the way, Liara and James chat with him about the current situation. Fail Shep and Liara have to give James a recap on the history of the genophage (handy for anyone who starts the series with this game, I guess). Liara also says something to the effect of "I wonder what Garrus would think if he were here," which is the game's way of telling me to go back to ME2 and do the Suicide Mission properly so I can have access to all the party members in this game. But screw that.
The squad reaches Victus' camp and saves him from a large Reaper assault. Victus is overwhelmed when he learns that he is the new primarch, but he eventually agrees to leave the fight on Palaven if it means defeating the Reapers. However, he tells Fail Shep that he can't send any fleets to Earth unless the pressure is taken off of Palaven. To do this, Victus plans on inviting the krogan to the peace summit.
When the asari learn that the krogan have been invited, they refuse to attend the summit. Meanwhile, back on the Normandy, the techincal glitches come up again. Fail Shep goes to the AI Core to see what is up with EDI and finds that she has taken over Dr. Eva's body to gain access to the Prothean data inside her "mind". With her new body, EDI joins the squad.
