Chapter 5: Questioners

Egwene and Nynaeve interrogate the two Blacks who were captured last book. Amico was stilled during the fighting, but can only offer a possible hint to a sleeper agent in Tar Valon, while Joiya claims to regret joining the Blacks and tells them Liandrin has a Xanatos Gambit to manipulate Mazrim Taim to do all kinds of nasty stuff under Rand’s name, causing the whole world to unite and kill Rand before the Dark One even has to face him. Neither Egwene or Nynaeve know who to believe, and they can’t investigate both with their current resources.

I’m just as much in the dark as Egwene here; the plan Joiya talks about is pretty cool and would start to make Liandrin into another Magnificent Bastard rather than just the hatable villain who’s now survived a bit too long for that kind of role. But I also get the feeling the writing is doing some sleight of hand here, giving us something big to pay attention to so the important little thing can go unnoticed. Now things are really starting to get moving.

The big "villain" roles are generally restricted to the Forsaken and the Dark One, but there are a few exceptions.

Hmm... I have completely forgot these things. What if it's true?
