Episode 12 - The Storm
Something I did erased my entire post about episode 12 and part of 13, so I'm just resummarizing what I said, I don't have the minute by minute quips. I suppose from now on Ill write in notepad and copy paste my entries so a misclick wont lose the whole thing....
So as soon as Aang was named the avatar his life changed, he wasn't allowed to be a kid anymore. He tried to run away from his responsibilities in a way, only to awake in the future only to find out they were still waiting for him. He realizes that hanging on the might have beens is only making him feel worse, and that he should do what he can now instead of dwelling on the past. Pretty mature thinking for a kid his age.
And I got to see why Zuko is a Jerk, speaking out against using his people as bait cost him his place in the palace. Its nice to see that he genuinely cares about his kingdom, something that his father possibly lacks if he was willing to use troops as cannon fodder so readily.
I thought it was interesting that Aang was chosen as avatar because he recognized items from his past lives. They use a similar process in selecting the Dalai Lama.
Episode 13 - The Blue Spirit
Hah, Momovision is cute.
Aang why did you leave your staff behind, just because you are traveling on foot doesn't mean it might not come in handy. Like when those guys with the arrows are shooting at you and you jump off a cliff maybe?
Gross are you really going to make your friends suck on those frogs? I don't know if you can really trust that crazy old lady.
Half frozen frogs scootching out from under a door, nothing strange about that.
Yell at the frogs louder Aang... just in case nobody heard you
Oh now that you know who it is you cant leave him behind. He helped you even if it was for his own reasons... but hey at least your little speech before he tried to fry you might have made him stop to think a moment. I kind of figured the blue spirit guy was Zuko, he certainly seemed to know how to put out a firebender quickly. Surprised he was able to control himself enough not to use his abilities and give himself away though.
I think just being told to suck on those would be enough to make me say that I wasn't feeling so awful anymore...
So Zhao is now an Admiral, I suppose that means he has the whole navy at his disposal now, its definitely going to make it tougher for Zuko to track Aang if Zhao can prevent him from going anywhere in his ship.
Episode 14 - The Fortune Teller
Aww Aang that's so thoughtful, but how is he supposed to catch dinner without a line? I don't think you were supposed to compare him to Momo though Katara.
Platypus bear? Oh the egg thing was totally unnecessary... though.
So, people can bend the elements and the Avatar has been reincarnating for centuries but you are going to disbelieve fortune telling?
So is an exploding bone a good thing or a bad thing?
You're going to drag Sokka up the side of a mountain. You can just jump up there but he has to clamber up the side...
Oh this is a Science Vs Faith episode... its a bit of an overused storyline.
Yay Netflix froze up, at least it remembered where I was in the episode...
How can you stand that close to molten rock and not get burnt?
So the village really didn't learn a lesson did it? The village wasnt destroyed because Aang was there so that just fulfilled the prophecy in their eyes.
Episode 15 - Bato of the Water Tribe
Sokka was a lot younger when his father left, how long have they been gone? Only 2 years? He grew up fast if that's the case.
So is that a mole anteater wolf thing? Its pretty cool looking and useful, like a bloodhound that you can ride.
Wait you're just going to abandon him like that? After all the crap you've been through together?
Wow Appa actually does something other than lie around?
That poor Abbey... its getting trashed just for the sake of Aang. I'm sure they understand it just sucks to be them. Cool fight scene though, especially when they were fighting on the well.
Perfumebending? Hey whatever works, though perfume tends to be alcohol or oil based, very little water in it.
And thats it for today, have to go to work... boo!
I have to admit I'm enjoying the series a lot more now that its become more serious. The Fortune Teller was a bit filler-ey but I enjoyed the other three that I watched today.
