In which SOCIAL LINKS GO!

So, when we last left our hero, he'd just awakened to his persona, escaped molestation by a guy with a freakish nose and spent a week lying in bed. So, usual college student life (even though he's a high school student). Anyway, let's get back into the action and see what Shuji/Ikutsuki/whatever else you want to call him wants from us! Likely more tutorial...

So, we find ourselves back in our dorm, same as last time. Walking over to the TV in one corner leads to the building shaking and a report of an earthquake. Okay, watching the TV causes earthquakes and tsunamis to happen. Man, the Personaverse is weird. Going into the men's restroom of the dorm also... refreshes us, turning our condition to "great", whatever that means. I'll skip lightly over the obvious joke there, since you guys in the comments don't deserve that kind of humour. Far too lowbrow. Otherwise there isn't much to do in the main dorm room right now, since Yukari and Mitsuru are likely upstairs with Ikutsuki. So, let's stop faffing about and get this show on the road!

Upon arriving on the fourth floor, we're greeted by Yukari, who leads us into the room. Ikutsuki, Akihiko and Mitsuru are already about, so that's handy. Maybe we'll actually get some answers this time. This is also our first formal introduction to Akihiko to the MC, so hooray. I'm also pretty sure I've heard Akihiko's voice before, but I can't quite place him. Probably every anime ever, though. But before I can ponder that, Ikutsuki blows my sense of time wide open by (wait for it...)

Telling us that our day might have more than 24 hours!

Being the somewhat easily surprised protagonists that we are, we respond with a flabbergasted "Excuse me?" Truly, we are the most polite person ever, even when confronted with mind-shattered revelations. Mitsuru isn't so surprised by our reaction. Probably from all the spy cameras she put everywhere... But she goes on to say that we already experienced it first time back in super-anime-cutscene land right back in the first update. So yeah, Mitsuru goes on to explain what we already knew - the Dark Hour is between this day and the next, normal people become coffins and the power goes out. Asking what she means by "hidden" leads to elaboration by Ikutsuki about how people aren't aware of it, and that it happens every midnight. Akihiko butts in to add that what really makes things interesting are the things known as "Shadows", which appear only during the Dark Hour and get their noms by going after folks not in coffins. Akihiko gets a little blood-knighty at the end, much to Mitsuru's irritation.

But before we can see some Persona-on-Persona fighting, Ikutsuki intervenes and calms the situation... One day I'll get my Persona battling. One day. He then goes on to tell us what this motley crew calls themselves - SEES, or the Specialised Extracurricular Execution Squad. Fancy. Seems they hide by being a school club, but their true purpose is taking down Shadows. Sign me up! Mitsuru also explains that the shadows are the reason that Apathy Syndrome exists, since Shadows eat the minds of those not in coffins. However, there are some who can function during the Dark Hour, even being able to fight back against Shadows. So yeah, it's all up to us. Again. Woo.

Mitsuru then opens the briefcase on the table (yes there was a briefcase on the table, just deal with it) to reveal... a gun and armband. Turns out those guns are called Evokers, and they want us to join them. Since this is likely a But Thou Must! thing, I skipped lightly over that tangled loop and said yes. Ikutsuki also says that we might as well stay in our dorm, since the "hold-up" wasn't going to let up any time soon. Sure, glasses, sure. This totally wasn't a set-up all along. I believe you.

But just as we're getting our heads around all this, something strange happens. A mysterious voice in our head says "Thou shalt have our blessing when thou choosest to create a Persona of the Fool Arcana." Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to our first Social Link of the game. Social Links are... well, Igor said they were bonds with people you meet that grow and develop, so I guess the stronger the links get, the more powerful we become and the more powerful Personas we can fuse? Sounds cool.

Anyway, this update is getting a bit long again, so I'm gonna cut it off here and start working on the next one. See you guys later!
