Part 10: It Arrives! The Power of the Legendary Ranger

Rika: Welcome back.

So, previously, the BFJ team managed to reclaim their robot, Trakeena and Long's forces were defeated, and The Cole Evans Show was underway.

...you know, it's almost tempting to rename this entire flippin' story The Cole Evans Show, Starring Cole Evans and Friends. I'm dead serious. Especially considering the damn amount of focus on that guy.

And you thought he was overexposed on Power Rangers Wild Force. Pfft. Say what you will about that one? At least Cole had a pretty fucking decent arc there!

So we'll go on with...

Chapter 10: Poison the Electric Heroes

We begin with seeing Gaku, the Yellow Warrior of Gaoranger. You see, after his adventures, he rejoined the Air Force...but, of course, U.A.O.E killed his comrades.

And we get a flashback with exactly that. As he mourns, the Eagle Power Animal shows up and rescues Gaku, taking him to the Gaorangers...and everyone's favorite inconvenience, Aka Red. He tells Gaku about the then-upcoming war, and the man thanks his Power Animal for saving his ass.

That's about it.

As Gaku tries to remember, we see Cole training when he sees Sakura. They both talk for a bit, and Bouken Pink herself suggests for our "hero" to join the group for breakfast. And to meet someone new.

As for her? Sakura will help Director Aya out on early morning work. Yeah. After a bit of flirtations 'n' stuff, she and Cole go their separate ways.

After some scenes of Sakura thinking about Cole's fancying her and her own romance with Satoru (and Jasmine talking to her about it), and Houka and Jasmine talking about nearly the same stuff, we see a scene with Cole talking to Gaku. You see, he senses that the aura's similar to Taylor, but it's so different. Uh...no shit? They introduce each other, and the Red Wild Force Ranger tells Gaku about Taylor...aaaaaaand how he can be his girl to date.

I thought a Ship Tease was established between her and Eric in "Reinforcements from the Future"? And for that matter, why the hell are almost all the Rangers so single-minded in some places? Some want to fall in love. Some become matchmakers. Some...gah.

This is just too much damn shipping, is what I meant.

After Tommy and Jason apologize to Cole, Gaku meets up with Adam, Renn, Umeko, and Satoru. Why? They're selected for the Denziman "tribute" episode—er, mission.

And yes, I have to put "tribute" like this. Because it's less of an actual tribute and more like...I dunno.

Tranza: (trying to hold his head) An insult to everything ever?

Rika: I wouldn't call it that far. Also, are you okay?

Tranza: It hurts to listen to this fanfiction...why do you withstand it for so long?

Rika: ...because I know that it could only get worse?

Anyway, Gaku tells the group what happened.

Gaku: "The United Alliance of Evil killed much of my friends while we had our training in Europe specifically in Germany which the United Alliance of Evil had established its headquarters there.

...didn't we see RINO invading France?

"I could not bear looking at it as men and children were slaughtered while a few choice women were being brought to be the new ruler's playthings."

...

(Rika not only does a double facepalm, but she buries her face with her hands, doing a muffled scream)

By the way. Yes. This is exactly what RINO's mindset will be like. Innocent people? Slaughter them! Women? Lust over them! Failures? Throw a fucking bitchfit! Nothing about power, nothing about glory for himself...nothing, nothing, nothing.

What can I say about that?

So after everyone feels sorry for Gaku's losses, Satoru will bring Zubaan, the Golden Sword, with him. Adam thinks that RINO's a bigger bastard than any foe he's ever seen. Uh...depends on your interpretation, buddy.

Meanwhile, at the U.A.O.E, RINO himself is planning to team up with the Vader Clan. Long suggests to bring either Mesogog, Buredoran, Tranza, or Yaiba, and the Big Bad of this entire arc chooses...Shizuka and Yaiba. Yeah...

Long is chosen to watch Mikoto, in case if his memory returns. Shizuka and Yaiba talk a bit, and RINO thinks that his brainwashing of Shizuka is working a bit...but not to the point where he can choose her as a consort. Good God. (facepalms)

Oh, and even better. RINO also chooses Trakeena to join the mission. Because that worked the first fucking time. (drinks) And there's one more: our Monster of the Chapter, Toxic Gas Rat, reborn as "Pollution Raticon". Yeah...ugh.

My sarcasm...words...failing me.

At the Denziman world, the main heroes there do what damn near everyone else does: scout for their enemies. And we get this, this time from Adam and Renn.

Adam: "There's no sign of the United Alliance of Evil yet in here."
Renn: "But we can't be too sure."

(Rika laughs in a "I give up" sort of thing)

  • Take a shot whenever anyone says that there's no sign of (insert villain group here) anywhere, but they can't be too sure.
    • Take two shots if two people say that.
    • Get wasted if anyone repeats it over and over.
    • Take three shots if no one says it in the chapter.

I'm sorry, but it had to be done.

And so we see the Denzimen officially—Ippei Akaki (Denzi Red), Daigorou Oume (Denzi Blue), Jun Kiyama (Denzi Yellow), Tatsuya Midorikawa (Denzi Green), and Akira Momoi (Denzi Pink). And yes, I did take a glance at the trope page whilst doing research, but Denzi Green's actor would go on to play, among others, Soichiro Yagami. And no, I'm not going to do any Death Note jokes in this liveblog.

And I know I didn't mention this in the last liveblog, but Naoya Uchida is far from the only person who would go on to greater fame. Remember Battle Kenya in the last installment? He's played by Kenji Ohba, who plays Daigorou. He would later become just as well-known as Retsu Ichijoji, Space Sheriff Gavan. And that's just to name a few.

As for the other well-known one? We'll get to that when we hit the Sun Vulcan "tribute". So sit tight.

So as the Denziman group patrol, Queen Hedrian is unhappy with the Vader Clan's failures. General Hedrer assures her that they'll find a way. And we all know how this will go: Shizuka's team shows up, Trakeena makes a bargain (one Raticon for the amount of a crate of space diamonds!), and Hedrian agrees to the bargain.

...this feels like a Mad Libs re-write of virtually every single fucking chapter.

After that, Raticon causes chaos throughout the city, causing the Denzimen to transform. Shizuka's team watches as Raticon poisons the Denzimen, and not even Ippei's karate and Tatsuya's boxing manage to do much.

But when things look their bleakest, Satoru's team transform and fight. They manage to do pretty well, even leading the Denzimen into the Time Train. When they flee, they head back to...wherever the hell Denziland is supposed to be. IC, their robot dog companion, is worried about its friends' condition.

Satoru thinks of a plan: somehow talking to Billy (yeah, I have no idea, either), he suggests to make an anti-toxin. Renn volunteers to spread the word, and he thinks they need not just Billy, but Ranru as well.

...and yes, that stupid subplot is still going on. Talk about a fucking sudden romance. Oh, wait, a "rush" romance.

(Rika facepalms) Oy...

(meanwhile, three figures watch the Gokai Galleon: one man clad in red, another being clad in...dark, I guess, and the third clad in gold. Then they turn their attention to whatever's going on in the base. Obviously, they're all invisible)

Red-Clad Being: How that Eldritch being even found a Time Crystal, I'll never know.

Gold-Clad Being: I fear that with the Time Crystal, the Eldritch, the one born of despair, will revive every single villain for the purposes of breaking the pure-hearted.

Dark-Clad Being: We have to figure out a way to take the Time Crystal back. But how...?

GCB: We all know that the girl, this liveblogger, is incapable of doing so. Unless if she somehow drives her captors insane.

RCB: If she can't do it, then...the All-Stars can.

(the Gold-Clad Being and the Dark-Clad Being stare at the Red-Clad Being)

DCB: Aka Red...we're placing our hopes on these humans? I mean, don't get me wrong. When they're into their characters, they perform extraordinary feats.

Aka Red: Phantom Ranger, you forget that they do have their special powers. And I know that the road will be tough. Especially for them.

GCB: But what about us? What can we do?

Aka Red: Sentinel Knight, we can only guide them. As much as we'd like to help out, we're only bonded by our own respective worlds, and we can't misuse our powers by descending in this world.

(The Phantom Ranger just stands in silence, not sure if it ever made any sense...then again, almost nothing makes sense when it comes to Aka Red; after his adventures in Gokaiger, he just has a fondness for being so infuriatingly cryptic)

Phantom Ranger: I hope you know what you're doing, Aka Red.

(the three continue to watch)

(at the base...)

Rika: So, where was I? Ah, yeah!

At the New Skybase Laboratory, Billy and Ranru are working until Jetman!Ryu hears the message, and he passes it along to the duo. Ranru accepts, and Billy decides to go with her, even though it's already a damn given. Zordon tells them to take the teleporter, and it will lead them to the Time Train.

After that, the duo arrive, and Jun decides to have them take the blood samples of himself and his friends. Billy and Ranru do their research to develop an anti-toxin, but...of course the former is in love with the latter.

Meanwhile, in the city, people are starting to succumb to the effects of the poison. RINO tells the group that they can't hand over the diamonds, and he'll send Mikoto to help them. The brainwashed man uses Top Galer to send the warning.

...and did he really say that it was fun? Was he...gah, never mind.

At the Time Train, eventually, the Denzimen are cured, and with the help of the group, they spread the antidote by foot. As for Billy and Ranru, as they morph, they spread some antidote seeds in the air with the help of Bakuryu Pteranodon. And then Mikoto happens, and yes, he's beaten easily. Somehow, Ranru knows he's under hypnosis.

Okay, how in the hell did she know this?

Satoru's team dumps the antidote into the rivers, decontaminating them. After that, Raticon shows up, and he's easily defeated with the Denzimen dumping the antidote on him and using the Electric Ring. Easy fight, right?

NOT SO FAST!

(Tranza is rubbing his temples)

Tranza: <I can't take much more of this...on one hand, I want to see her suffer more. On the other hand...it's weakening me. Why is Radiguet not with the girl? Surely he knows how damaging this story is to all of us...>

Rika: You see, Raticon is enlarged, and the team use their giant robot, the Daidenzin, to try to beat him for good. But of course it doesn't, with the sword melting away.

Satoru decides to have Zubaan do the work, and...okay, let's wrap this up. The Golden Sword himself beats the shit out of Raticon, and when he's into Sword Mode, the Daidenzin uses Zubaan to finish the Monster of the Chapter off. Ippei is amazed by all the shit that happened, whereas in the Vader Clan's base, Hedrian loses her cool. But with the villains...they were...kind of successful on this one, I guess? Since they didn't really leave empty-handed?

You know what, screw it, we're almost done with this chapter!

Satoru says his goodbyes, and the Denzimen can't believe the other team's from the future until they see the Time Train. Yeah...I just have a hard time believing that they're still in disbelief about Satoru's team being from the future, with all the stuff that happened.

Bleh.

And so, the chapter ends with Satoru's team returning to the New Skybase, Billy and Ranru complimenting each other, and Adam doing some more Ship Teasing. The two scientists insist they're not dating, but then they just fall on top of one another. I don't know about you guys, but Cestria's going to be pissed if she finds out about this.

So that's the end, and yes...we're going to get to one of the dumbest parts in the next chapter. So hold onto your sanity good and tight as we brave through the next few ones. And raise your glasses up high.

(Rika just raises her bottle up high, like so)

What is the dumbest part in the entire fanfic? What dangers will the All-Stars face? Will Tranza be able to compose himself without losing his shit? And what of those mysterious beings?

Emergency Signal; Now, Forward! To the next liveblog of Super Sentai vs. Power Rangers!!

Guess next chapter will be when shit got real... Judging from it, I really can't wait. It's been a damn while since I read those things. But I can ascertain some things just tempt my head to paint my wall red.

Good luck...
