Well guys, today we're headed for the Overworld. First though, we're going to Kokkol's Forge. First, we upgrade Luca's Battle Axe to a Tomahawk, which in addition to being pretty strong, has full power from the back row. That's 4 ores used up. Then we make a Dancing Dagger for Rydia. It's got a couple attack points less than the Crossbow + Holy Arrows, but it has a nice use effect. Another 3 ores for that. Finally, because why not, I make a Hammer and upgrade it to a Mythril Hammer. Got 5 points of Attack over the Tomahawk, but can't use a shield with it. We'll equip that for now, as we're not in pressing need of being in the back row. That's 1 ore to make the hammer and 4 to upgrade it, so I've used all my ores now.
Now let's go. Whenever we get on the Falcon, Luca will ask if we're ready to go. Yes, we are.
Luca flies the Falcon up to the Overworld.
Rydia: Luca, where are we off to next?
Luca: We'll head south until we reach the northern coast of Baron! They won't expect us to sneak in from the rear!
Um, Baron doesn't have a north coast. That's a mountain range.
We fly over the forests of Troia.
Rydia: What's that over there?
Luca: A black chocobo!
Yep, that's a black chocobo all right.
Rydia: Palom!?
Luca: That's not Porom, whoever it is with him.
Rydia: No... it did look like a girl, though.
Luca: Oooh, that sneak! After all that sweet talk he gave me!
Well, I'm sure all this talk about Palom must be riveting, but I think the fact that Calca and Brina just got up deserves more attention.
Luca: Calca! Brina!
Rydia: Oh, thank goodness! I'm so glad that you're not hurt!
Then they attack us. Saw it coming.
Rydia: Calca! Brina!?
Luca: Stop it! Both of you!
Rydia: That lightning strike...
Luca: Their behaviour circuits must have gone haywire!
They just keep stabbing us, despite the fact I removed their weapons earlier.
Rydia: Luca, we can't keep this up!
Luca: Don't lay a finger on them, Rydia.
Rydia: What!?
Luca: Okay? Just let me deal with them.
Well, Rydia in this fight is not allow to do anything but Defend. Not even use the Healing Staff. That's great game, this is a really brilliant way to increase difficulty. Not like this fight is hard anyway, they can't do much to Luca.
Once we beat them, the two blow up, while somehow managing to not fall apart.
Rydia: Luca...
And then we hear more explosions.
Rydia: Cannon fire!
Crap! Red Wings! Rydia grabs the wheel, as Luca's a bit too upset to do anything.
Rydia: It's the Red Wings! They're trying to shoot us down!
So begins a chase.
Rydia: We're losing altitude!
More explosions. Luca grabs the wheel.
Luca: Time for an emergency landing then!
We fly over Agart... Or maybe into Agart is the best term.
Rydia: Mm... nnngh... Luca? Luca!
Luca: I'm okay...
She turns to Calca and Brina.
Luca: ...
Rydia: Luca...
Luca: Calca... Brina... I'm sorry.
Some time later...
Luca: We took some serious damage.
Rydia: Do you think we can fix it?
Luca: ...
Rydia: "Just who do you think I am!?"
Luca: Huh!?
Rydia: "I'm Cid the airship man; that's what they call me! Just let me at that thing! I'll get 'er back up in a jiffy!" That's what your master would be saying right about now, isn't it?
Your impression lacks something. Maybe it's because you don't have the awesome beard.
Luca: You're right!
Rydia: See? There you go!
Luca: We'll need to find some parts for the repairs first!
Rydia: All right, let's go!
Well, this seems as good a cut off point as any. Next time, we'll explore the island of Agart.
