So, let's go check up on the dwarves. Just looking from the world map, the damage can't be too bad...

Music: Giott, the Great King

Looks all right. Let's head for the throne.

Luca: Father! Are you all right?

King Giott: My stars! That's what I want to ask you, Luca! Blundering around on that airship of yours... but never fear! My fortress was built to stand strong against bombing assaults as feeble as that one.

Rydia: It is good to see you again, King Giott.

King Giott: Ah! Welcome, Rydia! It has been ages!

Luca: The Crystal, Father! Is it safe?

King Giott: We weren't able to protect it... it was taken... by just a lone young woman, no less.

Giott, your army is bloody terrible.

Rydia: What!?

King Giott: That was no ordinary girl, though. She wielded the exact same powers as yours, Rydia!

Rydia: !

Luca: The same power as Rydia? You mean... she can control Eidolons!?

King Giott: That's correct. She used that power to shrug off my most battle-hardened dwarven guards and snatch away the Crystal with ease.

Rydia: How could something like this happen?

Luca: And why are the Red Wings involved in this!? Where is Cid!?

King Giott: You hardly need to worry about that man, Luca. He is as stout and hardy as any dwarf I have met.

He's probably more explosion resistant as well.

Rydia: Something's happened to Cecil... and to Baron. I'm sure of it! There's no other explanation for why they'd bomb this castle without reason.

King Giott: The wars of the past are about to spring forth anew. That much, I fear, is certain. Their forces already have three of the Dark Crystals in their hands!

It's only been half an hour since that evil bitch stole the Eidolons! These are the guys we put in charge of protecting half the planet? WORST. ARMY.

Rydia: So the last Crystal is...?

Luca: In the Sealed Cave! Father! I'm going to the Sealed Cave!

King Giott: Luca! You have already put yourself through enough danger! If you go there...

Luca: Oh, Father, I'll be fine! We aren't going alone, anyway.

Rydia: What?

Luca: Besides, the only way to get in is with this necklace I have, right? I want to be the one who uses it this time. It's all I have left from Mother!

Rydia: Luca...

King Giott: I never thought I had raised such a stubborn child...

Luca: Like father, like daughter, you know.

King Giott: Just remember to be careful. The Tower of Babil has been glowing ominously for days... And I fear that this is only the beginning. Rydia, make sure my daughter doesn't get into trouble.

Rydia: Yes, Your Majesty!

Luca: And I'll be here to help you out, Rydia!

King Giott: My dear ladies, please do not overextend yourselves. We've enjoyed peace for many years. But now I'm afraid the time has come to reinforce our defenses.

Yeah, you do that. I'll just go ahead and loot the place. And also buy some better equipment for Luca. We find, among other things, 3 more chunks of Kokkol Ore and... Warrior's Clothes? Hmm... I guess these might be useful.

Let's go back to the airship. There are two dolls here now.

Rydia: Oh, hey!

Luca: I told you we weren't alone, didn't I? These are Calca and Brina. They'll be a huge help to us this time, I'm sure of it!

They better not try to kill us this time.

Rydia: More of Cid's work?

Luca: I fixed them up, actually. My airship expertise gets me a pretty long way with these things! Now, then! How 'bout we set off for Tomra first?

Rydia: Tomra?

Luca: If you can;t summon Eidolons, then you're gonna need some new equipment - and fast!

Rydia: I suppose so.

Luca: Off we go! Falcon, away!

Well, new party members;

Calca & Brina

Class: Doll

OK, these guys are pretty interesting. First of all, Calca has Jive, which uses a random enemy skill and Brina has Dance which uses a random White Magic on the whole party. But, when it comes to role in battle, these two are pretty much blank. Their stats are mostly decided by the sets of clothes they're wearing. For example, I just put the Warrior's Clothes on Calca, which makes him stronger, but completely tanks his magical stats. We'll see more clothes later on.

Music: The Airship

Yep, we're in an airship, all right.

Now, let's go to Tomra. We could get some stuff, but after outfitting Luca, we're broke! So we'll have to grind a bit. Calca and Brina start at level 1, so they need it anyway.

We also use the time to get some bands. Rydia and Luca get Lightning Brain Buster, which is a strong attack on one enemy, Calca and Brina get... Calca and Brina which has a random effect, with about 10% chance of them blowing themselves up, and Luca, Calca and Brina get Go! Calcabrina! which has the two dolls becoming their merged form and throwing various body parts at all enemies.

We eventually outfit the team in their best equipment. Rydia also gets a Crossbow and Holy Arrows, because arrows are infinite use, so are actually usable with mages. Anyway, next time, we'll do some things we can do before actually moving on with the plot.

A summoner without her summons, a tomboy dwarf, and two dolls that have a tendency to explode...not exactly the embodiment of girl power, are they? But, with the underworld in such a state, their combined might would certainly be an asset...

At least the dolls aren't attacking us this time.
