Episode 1-3: The Spirits Are Stupid

June 29th, 1425: I finally get the revolters firmly dead. (Bad luck here; another revolt of nationalists happened while I was finishing up the original one.)

July 22nd, 1428: The cities demand their old rights back.

I tell them where they can stick their rights. They're not happy.

March 22nd, 1430: I replace my dead Master of the Mint and Philosopher with new guys whipped up from my excellent cultural

tradition. They're both 5 stars.

July 27th, 1432: The bourgzh... bor... middle class request privileges.

Since they've been threatening to revolt since the beginning of the game my empire I don't really want to piss them off.

September 9th, 1432: As a reward for improving our prestige, the spirits improve our prestige. Seems like you could've just done that in the first place, guys! Dumbasses.
October 22nd, 1432: The priests tell me that the spirits refuse to talk to me in retaliation for calling them dumbasses. From what I've seen of them so far, I'm not going to mind this at all.

(Incidentally, the date on the screenshot is my birthday in real life! Aztek cake is great. And bloody. But mostly great!)

April 1st, 1433: The Zapotek think of a particularly unwelcome April Fool's Joke.
July 8th, 1433: The spirits resume talking to me long enough to tell me to defeat the rebels.

See why I didn't want to talk to these guys?

March 25th, 1434: As a reward for defeating the rebels, the spirits reward me with stability, which I've had at max since before the rebellion. (Oh, and as a bonus I still haven't actually defeated the rebels.)

See why I didn't want to talk to these guys?

November 5th, 1435: While still fighting off the rebels, my Master of the Mint somehow gets me 10 prestige.
July 30th, 1436: While still fighting off the rebels, I get a chance to trade inflation for stability and prestige. Because those are cheap and inflation is expensive, I take it.
August 23rd, 1436: Over 2 years after the spirits claimed I had defeated the rebels,

I finally defeat the rebels.

August 1st, 1440: Event pops up, I gain one point of Free Trade.
January 22nd, 1442: Though the spirits still aren't talking to me, somehow I can now communicate with the Inca capital. They seem nice enough. I can't actually understand anything they're saying, but it's in a very reassuring tone of voice.
August 1st, 1442: The spirits give me 75 gold for having a brilliant government.

I think I coulda got 100 if I hadn't laughed.

August 11th, 1444: Another point innovative, another 5 prestige down the drain. I still have 29 so it doesn't hurt at all. (This gets made up and more from the Great Man event for my philosopher next year.)
November 5th, 1449: The spirits reveal a large stretch of worthless territory near the Inca capital.

I'm pretty sure they're making fun of me.

As of January 2nd, 1450, I have Decentralization 2 and Narrowminded 3, for a total of 10 slider movements towards Westernization. (Decentralization -3, Narrowminded -2).

In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue... I wonder what'll come first, conflicts with the Maya or Inca or greedy European settlers?

That gives me an urge to post my next update and resolve the mystery, but if I do that I won't have a buffer.

So consider that another hint.
