The Problem with Invisible Walls

In this update, our intrepid hero Agnol goes after a particularly shiny knife belonging to a dead Khan, and encounters perhaps his greatest nemesis in the Wasteland: Invisible Walls. Also cazadors.

This update, unfortunately, is likely to be a boring one.

Part Four

Part Five

Agnol started out from the Goodsprings source, and acting on a hunch (and a Strategy Guide) to go after the grave of the recently deceased Chance. See, he could sense Chance's knife. With Knife Voodoo. See, Agnol is a knife empath. He can sense where particularly awesome knives are. Of course, to get to Chance's Grave, he had to climb up a mountain. And at the top of that mountain, he saw something, bright and shining in the distance. New Vegas.

Fantastic new weapon in hand, Agnol headed towards the shining city, only to be faced by his greatest foe: the aforementioned invisible wall.

Allow me to break into something of a rant here. I have this problem with most of Bethesda's latest batch of open world games (this one, although I know that Obsidian made it, Fallout3, and Oblivion). They're allegedly open world, but plenty of places have invisible walls that prevent you from accessing certain things. In fact, you can see me struggling to find a way around one, despite the fact that there is no logical reason for it to be there. I find it a bit irritating. As such, I noclipped about half the distance to New Vegas. Forgive me.

Anyway, Agnol arrived in that glowing city, but found that he could not presently enter the Strip, as he was too poor. So, after killing a drug dealer, Agnol went to the nearest casino, and gambled until he had enough money to buy citizenship. However, before he could do this, he remembered that he'd wanted to help those nice people in Goodsprings all die at the hands of Joe Cobb. So instead of walking ten feet to the Strip, he began the long walk back to Goodsprings. Along the way, he discovered a medical clinic. Thinking it would be absolutely awesome to go in there, hack the place up, and take all their supplies, Agnol entered. However, inside, he discovered something even more valuable — here, they could provide Agnol with implants that would increase his SPECIAL, along with ones that could give him armor or regenerative abilities. Cheerfully deciding that he wanted to boost his intelligence, luck, and endurance as well as getting both of the special implants, Agnol weathered a day getting the implants, and then headed back to Goodsprings to track down Joe Cobb and help him take over the town.
