Prologue: Welcomes and information

Hello, all who are currently reading this! This is the opening page of what will be the storage place for all my liveblogs of the Fire Emblem series of games. In here, I will be updating chapter by chapter as I play through the games and hopefully make those updates as fun to read as possible!

The next page will be a Table of Contents, since this will eventually get fairly large, and it will make categorizing which games are being covered in which liveblog installments much easier.

Continue forth onto the next page, and hopefully enjoy your time reading!

Sounds like you got through this one pretty handily, despite it being one of the more difficult/luck-based maps.

The main sticking point here is keeping Treck alive and/or Zealot from haring off after enemies at the top of the map, which would eventually lead him into the boss or the large group that spawns near Devias, and nobody who can recruit him has enough move to catch up.

I only used the arena once in FE 6—much further on Fir was level 19 and I got impatient to class up.

They were actually pretty stable in where they went. Zealot ran around a bit, but so long as I let them deal with the majority of the enemies on the side they come from, they'll stay in their little village area, and I can get Noah over to them and recruit one of them who can then recruit the other.

As for the arena, I'd noticed my units were a bit underleveled and inconsistent as well, so I wanted to even them out. I'm likely going to do little arena stuff like that whenever I see one in a map when it's convenient.

Level 12 is a pretty healthy number

I figure it gave my healers enough time to gain some levels, and it means I won't be thoroughly outmatched by any foes for at least a few chapters. Mostly, I wanted to help Clarine and Ellen catch up, since healers tend to drag in experience, especially when you use two of them.

I must say, I am impressed. This chapter is the source of many headaches for me. That you managed to clear it without resets, and healthily abusing the arena, is impressive.

I usually hire the Ilian mercs easily, though. Never understood why so many people have trouble with them (maybe it's harder in Hard Mode, but still)

You thinking of training one of the mercs? Zealot is as good as Marcus (minor differences between both), but the others have potential.

On Hard Mode there's an extra wyvern rider, and Zealot can aggro him by accident. Once attracted to their position Treck is of course the juicier target.

I actually didn't manage to save him, just kept going anyway.

I used Noah as my second cavalier instead of Lance, he turned out pretty well.

Speaking of wyverns, anyone else find it odd that only one of Bern's three Wyvern Generals actually rides a wyvern?

I may use one of the mercenaries, but none of them are really up to snuff in levels (mostly because I hadn't trained them in the arena like the others), and I'm fairly happy with one Cavalier for now.

In the translation I'm using, the Wyvern Generals are the Dragon Generals, so it seemed more like they simply have it as a title denoting power by association (Dragons are strong, so people with the title Dragon General would thus be strong too). Of course, if the correct translation is Wyvern General, then yes, it is really odd.

Also, I will say that I got really lucky in this chapter, since there were at least three points someone could have died, but either the mercenaries distracted the enemies or a lucky dodge saved their life.

The official English translation of Blazing Sword uses "Wyvern General," and indeed does so specifically with reference to Murdock, who is a General.
