AND SO IT WAS ON THIS WORLD. BUT WHAT IF...?

HAIL AND SALUTATIONS. I AM UATU, THE WATCHER, FATED TO FOREVER BEAR WITNESS TO ALL THAT OCCURS ON THE INNUMERABLE EARTHS OF THE MULTIVERSE.

IN YOUR TIMELINE, THE TROPER KNOWN AS EPONYMOUSKID DID NOT LIVEBLOG MARVEL'S FAMED WHAT IF...? COMIC BOOK. BUT THERE ARE ENDLESS WORLDS WHERE ALTERNATE EVENTS TOOK PLACE. THIS IS BUT ONE OF THEM.

Sorry, I got a little carried away with that. Anyway, here I plan to go over All the Myriad Ways in which What If...? kicks it hardcore. From the classics (What if Rick Jones were the Hulk?, What if Captain America had been elected President?), to my personal favorites (What if Thor battled Conan the Barbarian? is probably my favorite single issue story of all time), to the laughably goofball and bizarre (What if the Punisher's family hadn't been killed?, in which the Punisher's family still gets killed; What if Wolverine was Lord of the Vampires?, which is perhaps even more ridiculous than it sounds), I'll be covering it all from my secret moon base, an impartial and inactive observer of the infinite multitude of parallel worlds.

I just figured it would be best for my state of mind to alternate between updating this and the Noir LB, mainly because in addition to reading the Noir stories I've been reading Marvel 2099 stuff on the side, and the juxtaposition has been driving me a tad loco.

So watch this space, because I plan to get started any day now.

A lot of the cool imagery in this issue is lifted almost straight from the early Ditko Dr. Strange stories. Whatever else you might say about Ditko, he really knew how to draw weirdness.

I find it a tad funny that, while showing others the unappreciated value of a comic book series through a Liveblog, your own interests have just expanded as well. And I must admit, with otherworldly opponents and mystical powers such as those in this one issue, this Dr. Strange fellow sounds like he's perfectly suited for marvelous adventures that I wouldn't mind taking a gander at.
