* AlasPoorScrappy: [[spoiler: Sheriff Vaines is responsible for a lot of dumb things, but he goes in a rather nasty way. Due to being hand-cuffed to Sarah while he's dangling over a cliff, the others hack his ''hand'' off to free Sarah - plunging him to a painful death below]].
* AssPull: [[spoiler: Juno being alive in this film can come off to some as this, since while she was shown to be an ActionGirl in the previous film, her final scene showed her being surrounded by tons of Crawlers with an injured leg and seemingly no hope of survival]].
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: When [[spoiler: Sarah and Juno finally manage to forgive each other for everything both of them had done to each other. Shortly before they both sacrifice themselves.]]
* ItsTheSameNowItSucks: Many criticized the film for having the exact same plot as the first, some even suspect solely to [[PanderingToTheBase pander to fans of the first film]].
* MoralEventHorizon: [[spoiler:How the four survivors were whittled down to three. It's kind of hard to like the women when they would kill each other in a heartbeat in order to save themselves, even if they do change their minds about it later. The three women together could have at least tried harder to save Sheriff Vaines, as opposed to quickly giving up and deciding to slowly and painfully hack his hand off.]]
* {{Narm}}: [[spoiler: Sarah]]’s scream before her sacrifice is unintentionally hilarious.
* RetroactiveRecognition: Greg is played by Creator/JoshDallas, later better known as Fandral in ''{{Film/Thor}}'' and PrinceCharming himself in ''Series/OnceUponATime''.
* TheScrappy: Sheriff Vaines who makes a lot of idiotic decisions that get a lot of people killed.
* {{Sequelitis}}: For various reasons, ''Part 2'' received a much weaker reception than its predecessor. Among these include but not limited to the lack of the original's trademark darkness (and thus atmosphere). The first one's all-female cast helped it stand out, as well as its diversity with nationality; this one is a mixed gender cast, making it feel rather generic (although Rios was received well enough out of the bunch).
* ShockingMoments: The CruelTwistEnding. [[spoiler:Rios]] escapes only to be coldcocked with a shovel by [[spoiler:the old man at the beginning]]. With a confused look on his face, he drags her back to the hole and leaves her there.
* SoOkayItsAverage: While not considered outright terrible, the first film set the bar so high, and this one was just considered too derivative and generic. While some aspects like Juno and Sarah's redemption arcs, and Rios as a character are quite decent, the film rehashes too much of the original's beats and abandons the aspects that made it special (see above).
* SpecialEffectsFailure: The Crawlers seem to have been occasionally using StopMotion. Very jerky StopMotion. On top of that, the pink and sometimes orange blood.
* {{Squick}}:
** Sarah and Rios discover that the water pool they're in (and Sarah fell into in the first film) is [[spoiler: what the Crawlers use as a toilet]].
** Sheriff Vaines [[spoiler: getting his hand hacked off with a hook]].
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot:
** A plan was to have the girls from the first film still appear as visions or dream sequences, making it hard to trust Sarah's sanity. For Becca in particular, who fans think could have possibly survived, it could add more doubt and tension as to whether she is still alive.
** For that matter, Becca could have factored into the story, since she was well-liked by fans but found a little underdeveloped compared to the others. The fact that she was only dragged off and easily survived could have lent itself easily to her being revealed as NotQuiteDead. Especially since they did the same with Juno, whose death was even more overtly implied in the first film.
