1	* FanficFuel: What happened to [[spoiler:Nall]] in the thousand years between the two games. It doesn't help that one interview with Kubooka outright stated that he went on an adventure "rivaling the war on the Magic Emperor".
2	* BrokenBase: Were the Working Designs translations an example of {{Woolseyism}}, an insult to the original, or merely alright for its time? Generally the gameplay changes for the Sega CD versions are treated much more harshly, while the changes for the Playstation games and dialog translations are more polarizing.

4	** It's sparse, though not absent. The Working Designs versions of ''Lunar 2'' make a RunningGag of Ruby willfully misinterpreting Leo's attempts to get Hiro to join him as come-ons. Also, some have managed to interpret Dyne and Ghaleon's friendship as a bit more than friendship.
5	** In the ''Childhood's End'' manga, [[spoiler:Xenobia]] says that "Ghaleon-sama's heart always held dear only one person... a human male..." alongside an image of Dyne. They're quite close in the ''Airship of Vane'' manga, and the final pages, taking place after [[spoiler:Dyne's apparent death]], say that Ghaleon 'will never recover from the wounds on his heart' before showing Dyne's WeaponTombstone. A good amount of Ghaleon's FreudianExcuse is his belief that Althena not only abandoned the world, but caused Dyne's death to achieve it, and Ghaleon's [[VideoGame/LunarEternalBlue last words]] are to Dyne, musing that the young heroes Ghaleon has entrusted with the world "shine with your light."
6	*** Combining that with the intro to ''Silver Star Harmony'', which hints at Dyne/Althena as a GenerationXerox of Alex/Luna and shows that Gheleon is quite devoted to his goddess, could create an OT3. [[spoiler:Xenobia's]] still out of luck, though.
7	* NarmCharm: The ham and cheese voice acting in the Working Designs games, while unacceptable by today's dubbing standards, is beloved by a lot of fans. John Truitt's Ghaleon, easily the second hammiest character in the series after Leo, is especially fondly remembered. Many were upset when ''Silver Star Harmony'' had Creator/TroyBaker give Ghaleon a more subdued performance.

9	** More people are probably familiar with the [=PlayStation=] versions of the two games, without knowing that they were actually playing a ''remake'' of two Sega CD games -- made at least ''two'' years before the [=PlayStation=] was released. (Heck, if you were to go by Japanese release dates... the first ''Lunar'' remake was at most year before ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII'', same with the [[NoExportForYou Sega Saturn]] version.)
10	** Many thought Alex playing the ocarina instead of the harp in the remake was [[FollowTheLeader trying to cash in on]] ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime''. In actuality, the remake came out in Japan two years before Ocarina of Time, [[ScheduleSlip it just took a very long time to make it to the states]].
11	* OnceOriginalNowCommon: It can be ''really,'' '''''really''''' hard for people who got into video gaming in at the turn of the millenium or so to get what the big deal with these games is, and can't really grok the ''massive'' leap in production value and narrative complexity that the games represented in their original release (to say nothing of the fact that their anime artstyle was very unique in the West, when they were first released). Nowadays, the plot elements involved are old hat and {{animesque}} games are a dime a dozen, so ''Lunar''[='=]s significance can be hard for contemporary gamers to grasp. The sheer amount of traditionally animated TV quality 2D cutscenes in the remakes still stand out, however - most modern [=JRPGs=] will have a 2d opening theme at best.
12	* {{Woolseyism}}: Creator/WorkingDesigns ratcheted up the humor in the process of localization. The concentration of FourthWall jokes and {{shout out}}s in the Working Designs versions comes close to taking the games out of {{Troperiffic}} zone and into the AffectionateParody zone. [[TheyChangedItNowItSucks Not everyone]] [[{{Macekre}} liked the jokes]], though.
13	** Ubisoft gave ''Lunar Legend'' and ''Lunar: Dragon Song'' pretty much straight [[TranslationStyleChoices formal equvialency translations]] with usage and grammar on the chintzy side. Fans were not pleased.

Context YMMV / Lunar
