* AmericansHateTingle: The 2015 CGI remake[[note]]which was made by Studio 100, a Belgian television studio who also owns the international distribution rights to the anime[[/note]] has gotten a very lukewarm reception in parts where the original Japanese adaptation is well-beloved, such as Germany and Latin America. In the latter region, particularly, those who dislike the remake [[MisBlamed blame Disney for "ruining" the series]] (as it previously aired on the Creator/DisneyChannel there), [[AllAnimationIsDisney even though they have nothing to do with it]].
* AudienceColoringAdaptation: A survey by Japanese researcher Ryo Kohsaka found that 90% of the Japanese people he interviewed said that the 1974 anime was their introduction to the book. This could have something to do with the fact that occassionally some Japanese stations rerun it.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: Some pieces from both soundtracks qualify.
** Takeo Watanabe: The soothing [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQ8gDXtG36U&2m4s Yorokobi no kodama]], the beautiful [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9BOC9bXFUg Frankufuruto]], the pretty cool [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBcg6CF_ErM Onji no ume]] and the extremely powerful [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhlOKIQGDaY Aruite Clara]].
** Gert Wilden: The pretty, peaceful [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3Bxe4YRRL&5m47s Kleine Romanze]], the fittingly-titled [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3Bxe4YRRLQ38m17s Schonheit]], the soaring [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZBjGBRqxb8 Die Berge von Heidi]] (unofficial title) and the ambient [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YN8J3tFCcJU Die zarthlichkter von Heidi]] (also unofficial title).
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: [[GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff/HeidiGirlOfTheAlps See here]].
* MemeticMutation:
** One of the most well-known memes in the series is an [[https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/heidi-pushes-clara-over-cliff image macro]] that consists of Heidi pushing a wheelchair with Clara sitting on it, with the next image consisting a photoshopped image of Heidi [[CrossesTheLineTwice killing Clara by shoving her down the cliff]]. The image macros usually goes with joke captions of Heidi's disagreement with Clara's opinions.
** German schoolkids parodied a line from the German theme song ("Heidi, deine Welt sind die Berge"[[note]]Heidi, the mountains are your world[[/note]]) into "Heidi, deine Welt ist das Abflussrohr"[[note]]Heidi, your world are the sewers[[/note]]. [[CoveredUp The spoof is much more famous than either the anime or its theme song]], which by now are mostly forgotten in Germany.
* {{Moe}}: Heidi is a playful and innocent FriendToAllLivingThings.
* PeripheryDemographic: Daniel Kothenschulte remarked in his novel ''Opulence and Restriction – Styles of the Early Anime'' that even German adults, including grandfathers and senior citizens, would watch this anime.
* RetroactiveRecognition:
** In the original Japanese version, Heidi is voiced by Creator/KazukoSugiyama, who is perhaps better known as Jun the Swan from ''Anime/ScienceNinjaTeamGatchaman'' (which she had only done two years earlier) and as Ten from ''Manga/UruseiYatsura''.
** In the Mexican Spanish version, she's voiced by Cristina Camargo, who ''Anime/DragonBallZ'' fans may know as the voice of Android 18.
** Peter:
*** In Japanese, he is voiced by Creator/NorikoOhara, who, even in Japan, is best known as the voice of Nobita Nobi from the 1979-2005 Manga/{{Doraemon}} series.
*** His Mexican Spanish voice Diana "Ad" Santos is the current voice of Minnie Mouse (according to Website/TheOtherWiki).
** Ohara and Klara's seiyuu, Creator/RihokoYoshida, would be teamed again a few years later in Miyazaki's ''Anime/FutureBoyConan'', with Ohara in the title role and Yoshida as Monsley. Yoshida also acted in what was arguably her breakout role, as the title character in ''Anime/MajokkoMegChan'', while ''Heidi'' was on the air, and would go on to roles like Maria in ''Anime/UFORoboGrendizer'' and the title character in ''[[Manga/MissMachiko Miss Machiko]].''
** Kohei Miyauchi (Heidi's grandfather) is perhaps better known as the original Japanese voice of Muten Roshi (AKA: the Turtle Hermit) from the original ''Manga/DragonBall'' series.
** Miyoko Aso (Miss Rottenmeier) is perhaps best known in Japan as the original voice of Fune Isono in Manga/SazaeSan, Japan's [[LongRunner longest running]] anime series.[[note]]It's been airing since 1969.[[/note]]
* SugarWiki/SweetDreamsFuel: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOdamlo8yHg The "Heidi version" of "Yuki to Watashi"]]. A soft, soothing arrangement with Heidi's adorable vocals.
* TearJerker:
** Heidi's progressive fall into despair as she's away from home.[[note]]As with the original book, and other adaptations, she gets better.[[/note]]
*** Heidi noticing Klara's grandmother suddenly leaving without anyone else noticing during a party, and leaves the house to beg her to return, to no avail, as she apologizes to Heidi. Even worse, once she returns home, she notices the party is over and one of the maids assures her with NoSympathy that everything will go back to normal. It's especially hard as the grandmother was one of the few things that made her stay in Frankfurt tolerable.
*** Days later, Heidi enters the art room and daydreams of being with her grandfather and Peter again when she sees a painting of an old man and a sheep guy in the mountains, only to notices its just a painting and she is caught by Rottenmeier, who discourages her to remember her previous life forever, worsening Heidi's depression.
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: The CGI remake. Aside from the change of animation, the new opening and some minor story changes are considered outright "offensive" by some fans of the original series.[[note]]It should be noted that the German version uses the previous "Deine Welt sind die Berge" opening from their dubbed version of the anime.[[/note]]
* ToyShip: Heidi and Peter have been shipped frequently. Since the unofficial sequels of the original ''Heidi'' novels involved the two getting married and having children together, perhaps it shouldn't be ''that'' surprising that people have been shipping iterations of these two characters for decades.
