Context YMMV / Hanson

* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: Hanson were arguably ''the'' TeenPop group of TheNineties, and they're no slouches in making pop music today.
** ''Middle Of Nowhere'' is chock full of great pop music: "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHozn0YXAeE [=MmmBop=]]]" and to a lesser extent, "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtIgqqyUBcM Where's The Love]]" were big singles for a good reason; they're basically a white Jackson 5 with an AlternativeRock kick to them. And if you think those are catchy, check out the album's hidden track, "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6A85ZUs2Wfw Man From Milwaukee]]"!
** "Penny & Me," widely considered to be the single where Hanson [[GrowingTheBeard both literally and figuratively grew up]] and proved that they could hold their own as a rock band plenty well despite their OneHitWonder label.
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hT_dJhtspu4 This Time Around.]]" The piano build into a soulful chorus has incredible impact, and it's a shame this song isn't better remembered.
** Of course, there's ''the'' de facto proof that Hanson's StillGotIt as grownups: the absolutely boss dance track "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmG0DqhfDbY Thinking 'Bout Something.]]"
** 'I was Born' is a really good sing-along.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBWRCihnWFU "Save Me"]] played in a popular Brazilian soap opera, and is thus their biggest hit in the country after "[=MmmBop=]" (in that link alone, 90% or more of the comments are in Portuguese!).
* NeverLiveItDown:
** Part of why their more recent, more mature work is limited to niche appeal is... well, they started out with "[=MmmBop=]."
** From 2020 onwards, the band attracted a more notorious reputation when [[https://www.vulture.com/2020/11/hanson-fans-hansongate-explained.html "Hansongate"]] happened, where many fans criticized one of the band members for posting anti-BLM and anti-COVID memes on their Pinterest page and another for making anti-COVID posts on their Instagram page, with even mods on the bands official sub-reddit calling them out for their poor behavior and with many former-fans swearing off the band forever as a result of their disturbing viewpoints.
* SignatureSong: "[=MmmBop=]".
* SweetnessAversion: Most of their work consists of upbeat SillyLoveSongs.
* ViewerGenderConfusion: Not a few straight males mistook them for girls in the "[=MmmBop=]" video, leading to some embarrassing moments later on.
