* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: "The Grinder", the heavy metal song which plays over [=SpongeBob=] and Patrick's LockAndLoadMontage.
* FranchiseOriginalSin: "Jellyfishing" is the first of what would be infamously referred to as "Squidward torture porn", in which Squidward would undeservingly be put through the wringer by his neighbors' antics. While these would go on to be considered one of the worst types of episodes, many of the aspects that made them so reviled are absent here: Squidward being mute for most of the episode means he never gets to tell [=SpongeBob=] and Patrick to leave him alone after his injury, which makes their stupidity more believable here and not just being inconsiderate; [=SpongeBob=] and Patrick realise on their own that their first attempts (with the soup and clarinet-playing) aren't helping and voluntarily stop; and Squidward ultimately gets back at them in the end.
* MemeticMutation:
** Firmly grasp itPatrick's increasingly irate attempts at getting Squidward to hold a jellyfishing net despite being in a full-body cast, eventually giving up and jabbing the net through Squidward's hand. The bit became the SignatureScene for "Jellyfishing", consequently resulting in no shortage of edits and parodies from fans.
** "Yes, yes! YYEEEESSSSS!!!"Plankton's over-the-top response to [=SpongeBob=] listing off the ingredients that make up a Krabby Patty. The fact that Plankton sweats profusely and moans in pleasure made it easy to read as sexual, which led to the moment becoming a popular reaction image in response to images of attractive characters from other works, usually NSFW fanart.
* Woolseyism: For obvious reasons, the joke revolving around Pun Plankton's lab doesn't work in other languages. Most dubs cut the scene out altogether, or just translate the line literally because of its sheer absurdity. But some get creative, and come up with new punchlines.
** The German and Dutch dubs are translated fairly well. The line is "This is my labrador, and this is my laboratorium", words that are still phonetically similar in those languages. The Polish dub does the same, but Plankton pauses on the first syllables to make the pun more apparent.
** In the Spanish dub, the dog is instead Plankton's guardian.
** In the Swedish dub, the line roughly translated is "This is my lab! Wait, no, that's not right. Uh... This is my lab!", implying that Plankton walked into the room by accident.
