Friday Night Funkin' Minus is a VideoGame/FridayNightFunkin GameMod created by [=LagoAnims=] and initially released on January 31st, 2021 with only Beta Boyfriend, Girlfriend, Daddy Dearest, and Skid and Pump. Its most recent big update, Version 2.0, adding Minus versions of Mommy Mearest and Monster as well as the other two Boyfriends, came out on May 18th of the same year.

The team initially had plans to have another major update that would turn the mod from a simple sprite swap to a full on overhaul, but due to complications (in particular [=LagoAnims=] suffering from burnout and disillusion with the current state of the mod), it was decided that the mod would be rebooted... though this reboot also ended up being cancelled mid-development.

The appeal of this mod is that it changes character designs to look more like their icons, often taking some creative liberties with it, like turning Pump into Skid's puppet, or giving Pico a dinosaur costume.

The plot is not too distinct from the base game. Here, you take on the role of one of three Boyfriends: Beta (the yellow one), Blue (the...well, blue one), and Mean (the light blue-and-red one), all three of whom are friends and in love with a single PerkyGoth Girlfriend. Because they have the same love interest, they end up having a friendly competition over their beloved. How? By out-rapping their opponents, of course!

----
!!This game provides examples of:
* AdaptationalModesty: Daddy Dearest does not have his shirt half off like in the original game.
* AdaptationalNationality:
** In the vanilla game, Girlfriend and her parents are American. In Minus, they're British.
** Pico in both his home series and [=FNF=] is American. In Minus, he's Australian.
* AdaptationalNonsapience: In Spooky Month, Skid and Pump have around the same level of intelligence, with Pump occasionally depicted as the more sensible one. In Minus, Pump is a seemingly lifeless puppet.
* AdaptationalSpeciesChange:
** In both WebAnimation/SpookyMonth and Friday Night Funkin[='=], Skid and Pump are two human children. In the mod, Skid is a vague skeleton creature and Pump is a puppet.
** In both his home series and Friday Night Funkin[='=], Pico is human. Here he's a lizard.
** In WebAnimation/Tankmen and Friday Night Funkin[='=], Tankman is a human soldier. Here, he's a robot.
* AdaptationalWimp: In Friday Night Funkin[='=], Girlfriend is able to sit on the stereo just fine with only her hair blowing in Week 4. Here, she is holding on for dear life with a clearly panicked look on her face. In addition, Girlfriend is chill about having guns pointed at her in Week 7, but Minus Girlfriend is outright nervous.
* AgeLift: Daddy Dearest looks a fair bit younger, being more svelte and brightly-dressed.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Everyone's skin color is the same as their icon, leading to things like Beta Boyfriend being yellow, Pico being green, Girlfriend being crimson pink, and so on.
* BarbieDollAnatomy: Downplayed for Beta Boyfriend; he does not wear a shirt, yet he does not have any visible nipples. However, he's still shown with balls on the game over screen like the other Boyfriends.
* BlushSticker: Girlfriend now has two circles on her cheeks to indicate blushing.
* BonesDoNotBelongThere: If you fail a song as Mean Boyfriend, his skeleton shows a bone in his cap, despite it not actually being a part of his head.
* CockFight: The three Boyfriends are not only trying to out-rap the rivals they meet each week, but they're also trying to out-rap each other for the right to date Girlfriend.
* ColorCodedCharacters: The Boyfriend trio have theme colors in the character select screen.
** Beta Boyfriend - Yellow
** Blue Boyfriend - Blue
** Mean Boyfriend - Red
* CoolShades: Mean Boyfriend puts on shades in his right pose.
* DecompositeCharacter: The various icons Boyfriend's had during the original game's development were turned into separate characters: the blue icon with a red cap found in the "grafix" image became Mean Boyfriend, the original yellow icon became Beta Boyfriend, and the final blue icon became Blue Boyfriend. Blue resembles canon Boyfriend the most, while Beta retains his "history" with Pico.
* DisapprovingLook: Every time thunder strikes during Week 2, Mean Boyfriend simply rolls his eyes as if he doesn't care, unlike the other two Boyfriends who flinch from the thunder instead.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: The game wasn't originally a full game and instead was images and xml files that had to be dragged into the assets folder of a Friday Night Funkin[='=] installation. It also only had Beta Boyfriend as a playable character. Come Version 2.0, however, and it turned into an executable with a character select screen, as the other two Boyfriends were now added.
* EvilBrit: Girlfriend and her parents are British as confirmed by WordOfGod, and Daddy Dearest and Mommy Mearest are particularly this by intentionally putting the three Boyfriends in danger.invoked
* FearOfThunder: Played straight by Girlfriend (like in the original), Beta Boyfriend, and Blue Boyfriend, as they react with shock when there's a storm in Week 2. Averted by Mean Boyfriend, who just gives an unamused expression.
* HatDamage: In Mean Boyfriend's game over screen, a bone inside the brim of his cap breaks.
* HumongousMecha: Tankman is a giant WalkingTank with treads going up the backs of his feet and large cannons mounted onto the fronts of his hands.
* InstitutionalApparel: Monster wears a tattered and bloodied straitjacket as a sort of shirt, with his arms and legs completely free.
* InterspeciesRomance: Aside from the obvious fact of three humans in love with a demon girl, Beta Boyfriend seems to have similar history with Pico as their canon counterparts do, which may mean that he used to date a member of the LizardFolk.
* LegFocus: While already in play with canon Girlfriend, Minus Girlfriend has thicker thighs than in the vanilla game, and even wears fishnets. WordOfGod explains that this was unintentional as they lacked anatomy skills in drawing, but ultimately left her design as is since a lot of people liked it.invoked
%%* Leitmotif: Each of the Boyfriends have their own rendition of the GameOver theme. Beta Boyfriend has a lo-fi style to his rendition...
* LizardFolk: In this mod, Pico is depicted as a humanoid-lizard-thing in a dinosaur costume.
* PerkyGoth: Girlfriend is a goth according to the tutorial week's title which is shown with her darker fashion sense, but she's almost always smiling, just like in the original.
* RelatedInTheAdaptation: In the original FNF canon, Monster and Skid are unrelated, with Monster just being, well, a monster who tricked him and Pump into capturing Girlfriend. Here, Monster is Skid's dad.
* RetiredBadass: Aside from Daddy Dearest, Mean Boyfriend is actually an ex-rapper who picked up the mic again for a shot to date Girlfriend.
* StealthPun: Pump is a marionette with a microphone that Skid moves around - you could call him a "Portmanteau Pumppeteer".
* VSign: Played straight for Blue and Mean Boyfriend, who give peace signs to the camera, but subverted for Beta; when prompted to do a v-pose, he instead does the Shaka sign.
