''Death Skid Marks'' is a rogue-like car combat game available for free on Steam. You play as Mark Skid, a sociopathic metal-head who is desperately trying to get to the Concert to end all concerts. In order to get there, he'll have to fight crazed ministers, rednecks, obsessed fans, and white supremacists, as well as a variety of different bosses. Will you die? Probably. Will it be awesome? HELL YEAH.

!!"What's in a trope? Motherfucking AWESOME is in a trope, that's what!":

* EightiesHair: Mark Skid's defining characteristic (besides his handlebar moustache) is his glorious mullet.
* ActionGirl: Any female character in this game, friendly or not. The Veteran is the most obvious example of this, [[spoiler:even being listed in her ending as "Crazy Girl with Guns"]].
* TheApunkalypse: One of the characters you can pick up is a Mad-Max style road warrior. As well, the entire apocalypse seems to take back seat to a Concert to end all concerts.
* AttackDeflector: The Groupie Mastermind is immune to ranged attacks and will deflect them back at you. As well, this is the whole point of the Condom, a car unlocked by [[spoiler:defeating the Groupie Mastermind herself]].
* BadassDriver: Any character you put behind the wheel turns into this by default.
* BatterUp: The Baseball Bat is one of the first melee weapons you'll be able to buy.
* TheBear: One of the hikers is this.
* {{BFG}}: The Machine Cannon, the top tier ranged weapon, which is so powerful its recoil pushes your car around. There's also the turrets in turret vehicles, which are unlocked by [[spoiler:getting all different endings]], and the plasma cannon featured in the Object 666 vehicle, unlocked by [[spoiler:bringing the Alien to the concert]].
* BodyHorror: The Failed Lernies boss.
* BraggingRightsReward: [[spoiler:Unlocking every single achievement grants you access to the Mecha Skid, a tank-like vehicle that can one-shot almost everything. Of course, if you have it available, it means you've already mastered the game]].
* BullfightBoss: Many of the cars and bosses will rush you if you have weak breaks.
* CantDropTheHero: {{Subverted}}. You start with Mark Skid and can't take him out of the party, but if he dies, the game will continue with the remaining road-trippers like nothing happened. Of course, you need him alive to get the GoldenEnding.
* CarFu: This game is a master of the discipline.
* ChainsawGood: The chainsaw is one of the most powerful melee weapons you can buy, and it will make short work of cars and crew. Exaggerated with one of the superweapons, the [[PhallicWeapon Pelvis Splitter]], which is a 4 meter long chainsaw mounted in a codpiece.
* CloseRangeCombatant: Some characters have a bonus to melee damage. Also, this is the whole point of the Standardo Luchador, unlocked by [[spoiler:bringing the Wrestler to the concert]], which gives a 150% damage bonus to all melee attacks, but reduces all ranged damage by half.
* CoolBike: The Bear Eater, unlocked by [[spoiler:bringing the Bear to the concert]]. It is a big chopper with a sidecar on the left side to allow an extra passenger, and a ''huge'' buzzsaw on the right side.
* CoolCar: You can unlock quite a few of them by bringing people to the concert.
* CoolMask: The Road Warrior and the Luchador wear one.
* DeadlyRoadTrip: '''And how!'''. Your kill count in any given run will reach the hundreds easily. And that's not counting your [[AnyoneCanDie own casualties]].
* DeepSouth: The Trailer Park patrol, a gang of murderous rednecks that don't take kindly to your types 'round these parts.
* DirtyCop: The Route 666 patrol, a gang of rogue TriggerHappy cops whose uniforms [[AxCrazy tell them to slaughter you.]]
* EmoTeen: One of the hickers is a Emo girl.
* EnergyWeapon: The Groupie From Outer Space boss attacks with these. THEY HURT.
* EveryCarIsAPinto: Prepare to see cars exploding everywhere.
* EverythingIsTryingToKillYou: Not just the different Gangs but also Robots, suicidal pedestrians with bombs and the road itself.
* EvilClown: One of the bosses is a group of evil clowns from an alternate dimension.
* ExcusePlot: You want to go to a concert. A number of gangs want to kill you on the way there because of course they do. That's about it.
* TheFundamentalist: The Eastmoron Baptist Church gang. According to them, God hates absolutely everything, most of all, the player.
* TheGreys: The Alien hiker is depicted as a stereotypical grey. There's also the [[AnalProbing Probing Aliens]] gang, who supposedly are [[PaperThinDisguise specialists in infiltration]].
* GoldenEnding: If you get to the end as Mark Skidd and have a ticket on hand, you rock out.
* GoingPostal: One of the hikers, the Rager, is an office worker who has been pushed over the edge and has [[SanitySlippage gone berserk]].
* {{Goth}}: One of the recruits you can pick up is a fat goth.
* GraveHumor: If one of the hikers (or [[TheHeroDies Mark Skid]]) dies, a tombstone with a humorous epitaph will appear on the screen.
* HippieVan: The Brown Van, unlocked by [[spoiler:bringing the Hippie to the concert]]. It makes its passengers immune to all damage, but the van itself is rather fragile.
* JokeCharacter: The Terminal Patient. He has bad stats in both Offense and Defense and is prone to getting killed rather quickly, especially jarring if the player uses a car with only two seats. On the other hand, getting him to the concert unlocks one of the best cars in the game.
* KillerRobot: The Robot Bums, as well as their mom, Big Mama.
* LifeDrain: The Muscle Vampire 666, unlocked by [[spoiler:bringing the Goth to the concert]], prevents you from purchasing food or repairing your car at shops. The only way to heal your crew or repair the car is by damaging other cars with the pair of buzzsaws attached to its front.
* LongRangeFighter: Some hikers have a bonus to ranged attacks. Also, this is the whole point of the Vintage Pubelwagen, unlocked by [[spoiler:bringing the Veteran to the concert]], which gives a 150% damage bonus to all ranged damage, but halves melee damage.
* LudicrousGibs: High powered ranged weapons, such as the sniper rifle or the machine cannon can explode enemy crew members into giblets and blood. There's even a task that rewards this.
* LuckBasedMission: As a roguelike, all runs will have a degree of randomness, especially if you play on arcade mode and/or you select the Anarchy Ride, a car that switches ''all'' your tasks every few seconds, unlocked by [[spoiler:bringing the Punk to the concert]].
* MaskedLuchador: Another recruitable hiker. Mark mentions that were was nothing unusual about him being in the desert.
* MechanicalHorse: The H.O.T.A. (Horseman Of The Apocalypse), unlocked by [[spoiler:bringing the Horse to the concert]], is this. It's a bizarre vehicle, to say the least.
* MoreDakka: Most mid to high tier ranged weapons (except the sniper rifle). Also, the main draw of the Machine Gun and Machine cannon turret vehicles, the H.O.T.A., and the Muscle 2000 Rage Mod, unlocked by [[spoiler:bringing the Rager to the concert]].
* MultipleEndings: There are four endings to the game, each depend on whether Mark Skidd is alive and whether or not you have a ticket.
** [[spoiler:GoldenEnding: Mark lives and everyone has a ticket. They get to the concert and have the time of their lives. You unlock your hikers' cars if you obtain this ending.]]
** [[spoiler:BittersweetEnding: Mark dies, but the hikers all have a ticket. Your surviving crew members get to the concert, and rock the hell out. They honor Mark's death as a HeroicSacrifice. You unlock all hikers' cars with this ending.]]
** [[spoiler:BadEnding: Mark lives, but not everyone has a ticket. They reach the concert, but they are not allowed to enter, so it was AllForNothing. Mark is understandably pissed. You won't unlock any of your hikers' cars with this ending.]]
** [[spoiler:[[DownerEnding Very Bad Ending]]: Mark dies, and not everyone has a ticket. The surviving hikers manage to reach the concert, but they can't enter because they don't have tickets, so it was AllForNothing again. Mark's death is [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] as a SenselessSacrifice. You won't unlock any of the hikers' cars with this ending.]]
* NewAgeRetroHippie: The Hippie hiker, obviously. Since he's all about peace and love, he has a penalty in both ranged and melee offensive stats, but a bonus in both defenses.
* NintendoHard: Yep. You most likely won't get to the concert alive.
* NominalImportance: Everyone in the game has a unique, randomly generated name: Except for Mark Skid. Because he's awesome.
* OffWithHisHead: High powered melee weapons such as the hedge trimmer or the chainsaw are able to do this easily to enemy crew. There's even a task that rewards this with cash.
* TheQuincyPunk: One of the hikers is a stereotypical mohawked punk.
* TheScrappy: In universe, Lernie, the tutorial mascot.
--> '''Mark Skid (when picking up a hiker in the tutorial):''' Meet Lernie, the idiot we'll one day put in the ground.
* ShellshockedVeteran: The Veteran hiker, also known as Sgt. [=PTS=].
* ShoutOut:
** The Acado GT's description contains a pretty obvious reference to ''VideoGame/HotlineMiami''. Also, it alters Mark Skid's portrait to him wearing a pig mask.
** One of the melee weapons is the [[Film/TopSecret "Anal Intruder"]]. Its a Steam Hammer with a Rubber Fist on the end.
** [[Film/MadMax2TheRoadWarrior The Road Warrior]] looks exactly like Lord Humungous, the villain from Mad Max 2. The car you unlock if you bring him to the concert is also the one he uses in the movie; it even lets you strap a couple of hikers in front of it.
** Many of the early enemies are shoutouts to Creator/ArnoldSchwarzenegger, Creator/ChuckNorris, Creator/VinDiesel, Film/MadMax, Series/{{Teletubbies}}, WesternAnimation/DoraTheExplorer, etc.
** Mark Skid likes to call the Gimp "[[Film/ForrestGump Forrest Gimp]]"
** One of the cars, the Big Duderino, unlocked by [[spoiler:bringing the Hobo to the concert]], is a reference to Film/TheBigLebowski.
** One of the hikers, the Enraged, is an {{Expy}} of [[Film/FallingDown William Foster]].
* TakeThat: The Eastmoron Baptists are this at the Westboro Baptist Church and their leader [[NoCelebritiesWereHarmed Death Prophet is a blatant parody of infamous Church Founder Fred Phelps]].
* TankGoodness: The Panzergroupies and the Bandcruiser bosses. Tanks also begin appearing as regular enemy vehicles in the late game. You can also unlock tank vehicles, which have extremely powerful weapons and can crush practically every other car, but prevent you from entering shops.
* ThisIsGonnaSuck: The last road sign before the final boss reads (in its entirety): "Final Boss. He's gonna waste you. REPENT!!!"
* ThoseWackyNazis: The Aryan Roadkillers gang. They're drunk, pissed [[ForTheEvulz and you're there]].
* VideogameCrueltyPotential: Actively rewarded by the Reaper tasks, that grant you cash for ''every'' death, including running over defenseless pedestrians. The Pimped Standardo XL, unlocked by [[spoiler:bringing the Street Worker to the concert]], has a similar hidden task by default.
* WeaponizedExhaust: The main gimmick of the Red Rocket Dog car, unlocked by [[spoiler:defeating the Panzergroupies boss]]. This is also the signature vehicle of the Aryan Roadkillers gang.
* WeHaveReserves: Players might do this if they don't invest in character upgrades. The clown car boss seems to do this in excess.
* {{Yandere}}: The Groupies, introduced with the quote "You stay the fuck away from our men!".
