''Dangerous Dave in the Haunted Mansion'' and its two sequels are a trilogy of horror-themed [[PlatformGame platform games]] for [[UsefulNotes/IBMPersonalComputer PC]]. While they share the name of the protagonist with an earlier game, ''Dangerous Dave'', the games have little if anything in common otherwise with the original. Where the original plays in VGA and is about collecting skating trophies in a surreal landscape using a jetpack, the trilogy uses EGA and are about rescuing your brother in a horror setting with realistic graphics (for its age) and a shotgun.

Romero says that, among all of the ''VideoGame/DangerousDave'' sequels, ''Dangerous Dave in the Haunted Mansion'' is "the best Dave ever created". In 2008, ''Dangerous Dave in the Haunted Mansion'' was ported to cell phones.

!!This series contains tropes such as:
* BossBattle: Frankenstein and an unnamed demon (in ''Haunted Mansion''), Red Guardian and Dr. Nemesis (in ''Risky Rescue''), and Dr. Nemesis again (in ''Nutz'').
* BottomlessMagazines: Some variations.
** The first game has infinite ammo, but only eight shots fit in your gun, and you have to periodically reload one by one.
** The second game has limited ammo, but pick-up items will replenish it. While only six shots fit in your gun, you can reload all the shots instantly.
** The third game simply has infinite ammo without reloading, and "ammo" pick-ups that give points.
* ContinuingIsPainful: The first game allows infinite continues, but from the ''previous'' level, forcing you to replay that one. The second and third game use saved games instead.
* DistressedDude: Your brother Delbert being kidnapped forms the premise for each game.
* EveryTenThousandPoints: In the first game, you'll need these extra lives. The second and third have saved games, making it less necessary.
* HaveANiceDeath: The game shows a gruesome cutscene of your death whenever it happens.
* {{Hitscan}}: Your weapon in the first two games is hitscan. In the third, it shows a bullet flying across the screen.
* OneHitPointWonder: You. Graze anything and die.
* OurZombiesAreDifferent: The most common monster in all three games.
* ReusedCharacterDesign: Most of the monsters from ''Haunted Mansion'' return in ''Risky Rescue''. Furthermore, the boss from ''Risky Rescue'' is reused in ''Nutz''. Many of the death cutscenes are also reused.
* ShotgunsAreJustBetter: Dave's weapon of choice.
