* BreakthroughHit: ''WesternAnimation/MiraculousLadybug''.
* DevelopmentHell: Believe it or not, a majority of projects were '''''victims''''' of this. This mostly stems from [[ExecutiveMeddling a lack of interest from executives]] wanting to purchase the rights for them. Most of these projects were already written, but unable to move forward since not one executive wants to greenlight them.
** A ''Kobushi'' feature film was first announced in 2012, with a [[https://vimeo.com/243139840 teaser trailer is currently available]] on Vimeo. Since then, nothing has been heard from the development of the film and it's likely shelved. It's possible that the film would be part of ZAG's ten-picture deal with Cross Creek Picture, but nothing is confirmed yet.
** The ''Miraculous Ladybug'' OVA was announced in 2015 and was in the writing process in the summer 2016. On April 28, 2024, Thomas Astruc confirmed on Twitter that [[https://twitter.com/Thomas_Astruc/status/1784724959241060354 the OVA was scrapped]], though he hopes one day the crew would begin production [[https://twitter.com/Thomas_Astruc/status/1784725920957313443 if executives notice there is a popular demand for it]].
** Thomas Astruc [[https://twitter.com/Thomas_Astruc/status/1785034169531158726 wrote various ''Miraculous World''-related projects]] that were unable to get greenlighted. This includes ''Miraculous Rio'', a bible for a TV spin-off featuring ''Ladydragon'', a bible for a TV series featuring a new hero from the aforementioned Rio special, a comic-book spin-off featuring Eagle and Uncanny Valley, an unknown project starring characters from ''Miraculous Paris'', and an unknown project that takes place in Tibet. In particular, one of the writers, Fred Lenoir, confirmed on Instagram that the story and the script for the Rio special were both written in 2021.
** ''Zak Storm'' was planned to have a second season and Jeremy Zag once confirmed it was greenlit in 2017. Zag even [[https://www.instagram.com/p/ByYqaZhAz5D/ revealed on Instagram]] that a script from the second season was already written. However, as of 2020, something must have happened behind the scenes that caused executives to change their minds about wanting the second season. This results in the series ending on a {{cliffhanger}} after its first and only season finale.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes:
** ''Rosie'' was originally aired on Gulli from 2011 to 2014. However, because of its obscurity and [[NoExportforYou was never released in English]], it's almost impossible to find full episodes of them available online.
*** As of April 2021, every single episode of the first season is [[https://www.youtube.com/@rosieofficiel/videos available to watch]] on both the official ''Rosie'' [=YouTube=] channel and the 2 Minutes [=YouTube=] channel. However, the second season hasn't released in high quality yet.
** Only a small number of episodes from ''Kobushi'' can be found online, especially on [=YouTube=]. Just like with ''Rosie'', the series is somewhat difficult to find because of its obscurity and was never released in North America.
** If you live in North America, only the first season of ''Sammy & Co'' used to be available on Netflix from 2015 to 2023. Two [=DVDs=] were also released containing selected episodes from the first season. Though, since its removal on Netflix, good luck finding the two [=DVDs=] since they were the only home media release in the USA and Canada.
*** However, episodes from both the first and second seasons are still available in home media releases for a few selected international countries.
** It's impossible to find full episodes of the 2018 reboot of ''Denver the Last Dinosaur'' since it was [[NoExportforYou never released in the United States]].
** The FailedPilotEpisode for ''Basile & Melba'' and ''Job Academy'' was never released to the public after they were first shown at MIPCOM 2010.
* NoExportForYou:
** ''Rosie'' was never dubbed in English nor released in English-speaking countries. The only known English dub was the {{pilot}} that was [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nX_YuvnF4P4&ab_channel=Zagtoon released]] on Zagtoon's official [=YouTube=] channel, likely for a trade show event.
** ''Kobushi'', ZAG's second project, does have an English dub, but it was only released in Australia on Creator/{{ABC Me}} and in Southeast Asian countries on HBO Family.
** The second season of ''Sammy & Co'' was never released in the USA despite its first season being listed on Netflix in English-speaking countries.
** As of 2021, the 2018 reboot of ''Denver the Last Dinosaur'' is never released in the United States. One likely reason is the [[TheyChangedItNowItSucks backlashes from fans of the original series]].
* PromotedFanboy: Anyone who follows Jeremy Zag on Instagram knows how big he's into anime -- especially ''Franchise/DragonBall'', given the amount of merchandise he owns of the series. So it's fitting that the studio he outsources many of his shows to is the [[Creator/ToeiAnimation very same company]] behind the ''Manga/DragonBall'' anime.
* SavedFromDevelopmentHell:
** ''Fairyon'' was originally announced on the official ZAG website and was slated to be released in 2018. However, after years of development, the production of the TV series [[https://www.instagram.com/p/Cd5KhtrtR2Q began in May 2022]]. A likely release year for ''Fairyon'' would be either 2024 or 2025, given it takes around one and a half years for ZAG to produce one season for a newly-fledged series.
** The ''Pixie Girl'' brand is an infamous case since it was a victim of development hell from 2016 to 2023. It was initially announced on the ZAG website in 2016 and was slated to be released in 2018. However, because it didn't have much luck during its appearances at various trade shows, it caused the production of the project to be delayed multiple times. Eventually, the project was retooled into a feature film called ''Fairy Force'', which would begin production once ZAG Animation finished working on ''Melody''.
** Speaking of ''Melody'', the film officially [[https://www.instagram.com/p/CZVCiOxgAVY/ began production on January 2022]]. It took eight years for the ZAG Animation team to develop the story for the movie, meaning the project has been in everyone's mind '''''since 2014'''''.
** ''Choco'', a very early project announced '''''all the way back in 2010''''', was confirmed in 2022 to be in pre-development as part of ZAG's ten-picture deal with Cross Creek Pictures.
* ScheduleSlip: One possible reason for this trope is that ZAG pitched various projects at trade shows (e.g., Licensing Expo) in the hope they would be purchased by executives/broadcasters so they could begin production for them. However, they were only able to get a small number of projects greenlighted, hence why the rest of them were pushed back multiple times before they were eventually shelved or canceled. As of May 2019, the timeline of animated releases has been removed from Zagtoon's official website, presumably because of all the rejections at the trade shows.
* ScrewedByTheLawyers: This happens to a few of their planned projects.
** Two of Zagtoon's early projects were two {{Animated Adaptation}}s based on titles published by Glénat; ''Basile and Melba'' and ''Job Academy''. Back then, both ZAG and Europa-Glénat only had the licensing rights to produce the two series. But after plans were canceled and the latter company went defuncted, the rights for both [=IPs=] were reverted back to Glénat.
** A ''Popples'' feature film based on the 2015 Netflix series was [[http://web.archive.org/web/20160916102808/http://www.zag-inc.com/brands/popples originally announced on the official ZAG website]] in 2016. However, after Creator/{{Saban Brands}} [[http://kidscreen.com/2018/05/01/hasbro-acquires-power-rangers-plus-more-saban-brands/ sold the franchise]] to Creator/{{Hasbro}} in 2018, it resulted in both Saban Brands and ZAG to lose the rights to produce any more media related to the Netflix series.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Oh boy. You might wanna sit down for this.
** As already mentioned under ScrewedBytheLawyers, two of Zagtoon's early projects were {{Animated Adaptation}}s of Glénat titles; ''Basile & Melba'' and ''Job Academy''. {{Pilot}}s for the two projects were created and [[https://www.catsuka.com/news/2010-01-08/pilote-du-p-tit-cosmonaute-et-autres-adaptations-de-bd-le-petit-spirou-samson-et-neon-job-academy-basile-et-melba shown at MIPCOM 2010]]. However, both projects were unable to move forward into full-fledged series due to a lack of interest from broadcasters wanting to purchase the rights for them. This prevents ''Basile & Melba'' and ''Job Academy'' from being greenlighted by broadcasters, resulting in their cancellation.
** When ''Miraculous Ladybug'' was first pitched to ZAG, it was envisioned as a serious, 2D-animated {{Animesque}}, action show targeted to an older audience. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQIGJYYSr8s While the pitch pilot was made]], the show was eventually retooled into a CG-animated children's show [[ExecutiveMeddling in order to gain traction from networks.]][[note]]The transition to CGI came from difficulties when animating Ladybug in 2D, as her red suit and black spots often created a strobe effect.[[/note]]
** Jeremy [[https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz1o2oSATTJHZ0d2UDBEMURsZG8/view revealed]] at a 2017 panel that he was to co-direct a live-action adaptation of Miraculous with Creator/ChrisColumbus for Creator/{{Lionsgate}} with Thomas Astruc writing the screenplay. The film was slated for a 2019 release before was pushed back to 2020, after which it was silently cancelled. It would be replaced by the ''WesternAnimation/LadybugandCatNoirTheMovie'' animated film.
** Several projects were pitched at various trade shows in the hope there'll be executives/broadcasters wanting to purchase them, so they can be greenlit into production. However, they were either scrapped, cancelled, or stuck in DevelopmentHell and were never heard from again. As of 2024, the following projects were unproduced because of this.
*** '''ZAG Adventure''': ''Abominable'', ''Adventure Park'', and ''Peter Hawk''.
*** There are rumors that ''Abominable'' and ''Adventure Park'', two feature films, are part of ZAG's ten-picture deal with Cross Creek Pictures. However, nothing is confirmed yet.
*** '''ZAG Heroez''': ''Gayajin'', ''Kosmik Wrestle'', ''Legendz'', ''Moonlight Hunter'', and the ''Pixie Girl'' TV series.
*** ''Pixie Girl'' is being retooled into a feature film called ''Fairy Force''. While nothing is confirmed yet, it's possible that the TV series will still happen after the film.
*** '''ZAG Power Princess''': ''[=SuperStar=]''
*** '''ZAG Toon''': ''Arthur and the Book of Life'', ''Balloons'', ''Basile and Melba'', ''Job Academy'', ''Kosmic Dancer'', ''Legendary Books'', ''Powearth'', ''Sweet Power'', ''Touftouf & Kenotte'', and ''Transylmaniac''.
