* ColbertBump: ''Series/StrangerThings'' gave the band a huge boost, as its composers have admitted having taken huge inspiration from their '80s output.
* CreativeDifferences: ''Something'' happened between Christopher Franke and Edgar Froese in 1987 that led to the former's departure, but it's never been made clear what. Froese's [[DeadpanSnarker heavy use of sarcasm]] makes it very difficult to get a clear picture of what happened.
* DiedDuringProduction: Founder and only constant member of the band Edgar Froese passed away in 2015, with his last finished work being a collaboration with Music/JeanMichelJarre. ''Quantum Gate'' and ''Raum'' (released in 2016 and 2022 respectively) are nonetheless based on his "musical sketches," to the point where he is credited as writer on most of the former and a few of the latter's tracks.
* ReferencedBy:
** ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure'': In the ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureStoneOcean Stone Ocean]]'' spin-off game ''Escape From [=JoJo=]'s Bizarre Nightmare'', Moschino's Stand is called Tangerine Dream, named after the band.
** ''WesternAnimation/TheVentureBros'': When Phantom Limb asks Music/DavidBowie "who died and made you Sovereign?," Bowie says that it was his predecessor, ''Force Majeure'', which is a reference to the Tangerine Dream album of the same name.
* ThrowItIn:
** The odd, slightly dissonant sequencer pattern on the latter part of "Thru Metamorphic Rocks" was the result of a burnt-out transistor in the mixing desk. The band liked the sound, though, and improvised over it.
** In the original release of ''Ricochet'', the sound of two hands clapping can be heard at the beginning of Part 2. This is the final bit of applause before the music started, and was possibly left as a buffer before the start of the piece.
** [[EpilepticTrees Theorized]] to be the reason behind a particularly bizarre pressing mistake. All French copies of Zeit were pressed backwards, with the audio running in reverse. Normally, such an egregious error would warrant an instant recall, but because Zeit is a dark ambient album with no vocals, beats or even solid structure, the reversed audio achieves the same mood as the original. [[FridgeBrilliance One could even go further and say that having the album run fine forwards and backwards could help support its theme that time is meaningless.]]
