----
* AbsurdlyShortProductionTime: It took 51 days to shoot the film.
* {{Blooper}}: Between the scene with Creator/SamuelLJackson's iconic "You wanna play games, motherfucker?" and Marcus' next shot, his hands are suddenly covered in blood. This was the result of a cut trap scene, as explained further in [[WhatCouldHaveBeen/Spiral2021 the movie's What Could Have Been page]].
* CaliforniaDoubling: ''Spiral'' is set in the same nameless American city as the rest of the ''Saw'' franchise. The movie was shot primarily in Toronto, Ontario, with the area underneath the Gardiner Expressway used as a major set piece, and older-model streetcars visible in the window of the butcher shop.
* CompletelyDifferentTitle:
** In most of Latin America, the film is re-titled ''Espiral: El Juego del Miedo Continúa'' (''Spiral: The Game of Fear Continues'', compared to the original subtitle, ''From the Book of Saw'').
** The film was titled ''死亡漩渦:奪魂鋸新遊戲'' (''Spiral of Death: Soul-Slashing Saw's New Game'') in Taiwan and ''漩渦:恐懼鬥室新遊戲'' (''Spiral: Escape Room of Terror's New Game'') in Hong Kong.
* DuelingWorks: The film was released just two months from ''Film/EscapeRoomTournamentOfChampions'', the second film in another trap-based horror franchise that began in the interim between ''Film/{{Jigsaw}}'' and ''Spiral''. The two films wound up performing nearly evenly in both box office revenue and critical reception.
* PlayingAgainstType: This is [[Creator/ChrisRock Chris Rock's]] first foray into the {{horror}} genre, being otherwise known as a comedian. He plays the film's protagonist, is the one who came up with the original idea of the story, and was the executive producer.
* PromotedFanboy: Chris Rock is a huge fan of the ''Saw'' franchise, and pitched the idea of ''Spiral'' to the film's producers.
* RecycledSet: It was never explicitly stated by the producers, but the set used for the bread factory where Fitch's test takes place is clearly the same one for the warehouse that Edgar enters in ''Jigsaw''.
* ReleaseDateChange: As was the case with the other films, this entry was set to be released in October 2020, but it was moved up to May in order to avoid competition with ''Film/HalloweenKills''. Then it was delayed to May 21, 2021 due to the UsefulNotes/COVID19Pandemic, before later being moved forward one week after ''{{Film/Black Widow|2021}}'' was delayed to July.
* TheShelfOfMovieLanguishment: Reportedly, filming and post-production of ''Spiral'' was already completed by the end of 2019, well before its final release date in May 2021 or either of its original dates in 2020.
* SimilarlyNamedWorks:
** This is one of four horror movies titled ''Spiral'', including one in production at the time of release.
** There are also two mangas (though one of them, ''Manga/{{Uzumaki}}'', only had it for English-language publications) and a Music/{{Vangelis}} album with the title.
* ThrowItIn: A lot of Zeke's dialogue was improvised by Chris Rock.
* WorkingTitle: The film was first announced as ''The Organ Donor''.
