!!The Franchise as a Whole
* HeAlsoDid: Yep, this is the same Steve Purcell who co-directed ''WesternAnimation/{{Brave}}''.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: Almost every incarnation went through this at least once. However, by 2020, most of them have have been rereleased, compiled, or made readily available, with only the animated series (whose DVD collection is still fairly easy to obtain) not receiving any attention since 2008.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Around the early 90's or so, Steve Purcell received an offer from Creator/{{Marvel|Comics}} to produce ''Sam & Max'' comic strips for them. He declined, opting instead for Creator/LucasArts and ''Hit the Road''. Who knows what might have happened if he had taken them up on their offer? In an odd twist of fate, Purcell now works for [[Creator/{{Pixar}} a subsidiary]] of [[Creator/{{Disney}} the company]] that owns both Marvel and [=LucasArts=].
* WordOfGod: According to Steve Purcell's blog, [[http://samandmaxblog.blogspot.com/2011/02/what-kind-of-dog-is-that.html Sam is an Irish Wolfhound]].

* LyingCreator: Prior to the release of ''Save the World Remastered'', Skunkape Games announced that none of the game's dialogue would be changed or removed. They quickly changed their tune and revealed that only minor changes were made, weren't noticeable, and wouldn't hamper the experience. After fans discovered that several jokes had indeed been censored, Skunkape continued to deny it, claiming that only small tweaks were made to certain jokes that they felt uncomfortable releasing in 2020.
* SerendipityWritesThePlot: Buster Blaster became incapacitated during certain chunks of Season 2 and PutOnABus for part of ''The Devil's Playhouse'' because Jared Emerson-Johnson was losing his voice doing his lines. That's because, the main reason Buster Blaster sounds like he's yelling is because Jared Emerson-Johnson was yelling at the top of his lungs while acting his lines and that wasn't good for his vocals.
* TheOtherDarrin: Andrew Chaikin plays Max in Episode 101, but (apparently due to health reasons) was replaced by William Kasten. As of Season 3, Chaikin is back, but instead of playing Max, he plays The Narrator. [[spoiler:Which is kind of playing Max anyway -- the Narrator is actually Max's long-dormant superego.]] As of ''VideoGame/PokerNight2'', Max's voice actor changed once more to Creator/DaveBoat, who is set to reprise for ''This Time It's Virtual''.
** In the remastered version of ''Save the World'', Joey Camen is replaced as Bosco by Creator/OgieBanks.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiPISwKoovE trailer]] and assorted leaked clips for the canceled sequel are floating around on Website/YouTube. Prior to that, a different splinter studio of ex Creator/LucasArts people, Infinite Machine, were working on concepts for a game titled ''[[http://samandmax.wikia.com/wiki/Sam_%26_Max_Plunge_Through_Space Sam & Max Plunge Through Space]]'', but they went bankrupt before it went into production.
