* ActingForTwo: All the male characters are voiced by Puffballs while the female ones are voiced by Reese B. (except for The Witch, who was voiced by Puffballs).
* ActorSharedBackground: Puffballs is of Swedish heritage, and Sven Svensson is Swedish.
* ApprovalOfGod: A fan-game named ''Attacking the Tower'' is being worked on by Strobe Interactive. While the game isn't out yet, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wf8FKXPI908&lc=UgxeMyCRmR7n_aMnII94AaABAg it has already received praise by Innersloth themselves]].
* AscendedFanon: Charles' last name, Calvin, came from a fanfiction made by someone on Discord.
* ColbertBump:
** The series gained a lot of attention after WebVideo/{{Markiplier}} and WebVideo/JackSepticEye posted videos on the games. This wound up paying off during the release of ''Mission'', with many other streamers playing it as a result and by extension, the other games as well due to it being part of the collection. This resulted in the entire series' popularity exploding over the course of August 2020.
** The release of ''Mission'' itself resulted in a bump for ''VideoGame/AmongUs'' (another game by Puffballs & [=InnerSloth=]), given its crewmembers serve as a group of collectibles and one of the [=FAILs=] reference it by name.
** During mid-2021, this series caught the eye of many [[VirtualYouTuber VTubers]], especially those of WebAnimation/{{Hololive}}, and it saw a rise of interest in Japan as a result, even getting fan-made Japanese subtitles as a result.
* CreatorsFavorite:
** Puffballs said [[https://twitter.com/PuffballsUnited/status/1304141276846063616 here]] that the Right Hand Man is his favorite character.
** Puffballs' favorite failure is the gravity bubble in ''Airship''. It was a punchline he came up on his own and not as a shout-out, with enough ambiguity to make it funny.
** Puffballs also claims the Center for Chaos Containment to be the best thing to come out of the series.
** In terms of voice acting, Puffballs' favorite character to voice is Sven Svensson, primarily due to being a nod to his Swedish heritage.
* CrossDressingVoice: The Witch, a minor recurring Toppat member, is the only female character in the series who's voiced by Puffballs instead of Reese.
* DescendedCreator: In addition of being the creator of the series, Puffballs also voices all the male characters (and one minor female character) there.
* DevelopmentGag: A cross-game example. One of the [[VideoGame/AmongUs Crewmates]] you can try to collect is a tan one... which immediately gets flicked away when you click on it. ''Among Us'' was originally going to have tan as one of the Crewmates' color options, but it got cut due to being constantly confused for white and brown (until it was readded back again in June 2021).
* FakeBrit: Puffballs gave regional British accents to Reginald Copperbottom and Right Hand Man.
* FakeRussian: Puffballs gave Russian accents to all of the characters working at the Wall, but he's not Russian himself.
* OrphanedReference:
** If the player isn't quick enough in the first quick-time event of ''Complex'', the Fail screen says "Notice that new timer? Now you know exactly how much time you have before your terrible reflexes are revealed." This references the fact that quick-time events in previous games had no timers. However, in the remastered compilation of the series, the quick-time events from games preceding ''Complex'' were also given visible timers and while the Fail message is slightly modified into "Notice that timer? Now you know exactly how much time you have before your terrible reflexes are revealed." to reflect that, it still explains a mechanic the player probably already went through.
** In ''Escaping the Prison'', the sign above the entrance of the prison reads "West Mesa Penitentiary", yet several bios instead refer to the prison as "Red Mesa Penitentiary". According to WordOfGod, this was because the bios were written a few years after the graphic for the sign was made, and Puffballs forgot he had already named the prison.
* TheOtherDarrin: Due to legal reasons, voice clips from other video games that were in the pre-''Mission'' games were redubbed by Puffballs for the remastered versions.
* ReclusiveArtist: Puffballs has said in his Developer Commentary that Reese (Ellie and most of the female characters' voice actress) prefers to stay anonymous.
* SequelGap: The gap between ''Complex'' and ''The Henry Stickmin Collection'' (which included ''Mission'', the official sequel and conclusion) took about five years, from 2015 to 2020, whereas all the other games came out within around 1-2 years of each other. But then, ''Mission'' was that much larger than the other games, on top of ''Collection'' being also packaged with remastered versions of every game released previously.
* ShrugOfGod:
** ''None'' of the games' MultipleEndings are treated as the "real" endings; any ending seems to be as canon as any other. The files of Henry's past misdeeds in the intro of ''Airship'' are randomly selected (or depend on the endings of ''Prison'' and ''Diamond'' the player got most recently, in the case of the ''Collection'' remaster), the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gTcaA1gBRE trailer]] for ''Complex'' mentions that reports conflict regarding whether Henry joined the Toppats or took them down, and when Henry calls an ally for help in ''Complex'' itself, the scenario is governed by SchrodingersGun based on the events of ''Airship''. That said, there have been certain clues implying which endings could or couldn't be canon. Despite this, ''Mission'' allows the player to choose between all the endings from ''Airship'' and ''Complex'' to combine in pairs before starting the game.
** Finally, none of the [[TheManyDeathsOfYou FAIL endings]] appear to be canon, as the sequels always make references to Henry’s previous successful heists outside of the Fail Screen's snark at choosing previously unsuccessful options again and Henry making increasingly exasperated faces when made to use the teleporter.
** The OmegaEnding of ''Mission'' implies that [[spoiler:every ending and failure is simply part of TheMultiverse, with [[https://twitter.com/PuffballsUnited/status/1291504241622708224 later confirmation on the official twitter account for PuffballsUnited]] stating that all endings are equally canon, as [[https://twitter.com/PuffballsUnited/status/1296320205694541824 he believes having a canon ending would defeat the purpose of having a choice]]]].
** During Puffballs' developer commentary, whenever he was asked about something that was not directly addressed in the game (like the origins of background characters) he would say that he didn't care and that the answer didn't matter if it wasn't mentioned in the game.
* ThrowItIn:
** During the commentary, PuffBalls mentioned that the Henry Stickmin fan wiki editors would sometimes just create character names. He just rolled with some of them, giving Dave Panpa's last name as an example. This is also what inspired the creation of the bios.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** In the ''Government'' route of ''Airship'', Handsome Harold was supposed to be scared by the fake spider, but as soon as Puffballs drew Henry holding a stick with said spider above Harold, he felt like Henry ''had'' to hit him with the stick.
** Before its final version as a winter-style setting in Canada next to a cliff, the Wall was set in a jungle for a while. Even earlier, it was a castle in Germany. The place where Henry is locked up at the beginning would be the inside of a pit in the ground.
** Relating to the aforementioned castle setting of ''Complex'', before Ellie's conception, there was supposed to be a male character with a fu manchu mustache in her place. Similar to the "Boost Up" option involving Ellie in the final game, there was an option where Henry asks for his help to get out of the pit, branching into two routes between getting out on his own or with the character.
** Dave Panpa was meant to appear in ''Complex''. It was scrapped because there was no reason for him to be there.
** The Friendly Fire fail from the ''Rescue'' path of ''Fleeing the Complex'' was supposed to be two fails in one. To get the other, there would have been an option to toggle the friendly fire between '''ON''' and '''OFF'''.
** Sven Svensson was supposed to have a different name.
** The "None" option in the Thief/Allies route of ''Mission'' was supposed to lead to an ending, but it was scrapped as it would have made Henry and Ellie's whole adventure pointless.
** ''Collection'' was meant to include a side plot for each of the games involving Ellie's backstory, which would have revealed that she was a Toppat. While Henry is busy with the events in ''Prison'', Ellie and the Right Hand Man break out Reginald from the very same prison as Henry. Come the time of ''Diamond'', the trio tries to steal the Tunisian Diamond, with Mayor Fredricksen being their inside man, setting up everything easily, but Henry ends up being faster than them. Shortly before ''Airship'', they would overthrow Terrence Suave. Ellie and Terrence go into an escape pod (on Ellie's choice as a sacrifice) and Reginald, now the Toppat Leader, [[ChronicBackstabbingDisorder abandons her]]. They would land up in some snow, from which Ellie would be then brought to The Wall. Being first planned around the time of remaking ''Airship'', this was dropped during the stage of developing ''Mission'', as Ellie's membership in the Toppat Clan and the whole plot in general were confusing for Puffballs' liking since the beginning; plus, it would have forced him to delay ''Collection'' to 2021. Some of it was reused for the Executive/Ghost route of ''Mission''.
** The "Walkthrough" FAIL in ''Completing the Mission'' was [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZPobuBgRSs originally]] meant to be a parody of {{walkthrough}} videos made in Website/YouTube's early years - a stock opening screen made in Windows Movie Maker (blue screen, Comic Sans), the walkthrough "talking" through a screen capture of Windows XP's Notepad, and the "Unregistered [=HyperCam=] 2" song in the background ([[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKfS5zVfGBc "Dreamscape"]]). However, Puffballs couldn't figure out the song's licensing, so he came up with the endless loop instead.
** Charles' name was originally meant to be Charlie, and Captain Galeforce referring to him as such in ''Infiltrating the Airship'' was a holdover from the early days of development, and was left in as an oversight. However, in ''Completing the Mission'', this [[ThrowItIn oversight got retconned]] into an AffectionateNickname that Galeforce gives to Charles.
** During the Unseen Burglar route of ''Diamond'', Henry's option to get on the museum's roof include the recurring teleporter and an anti-gravity cap, with the correct choice being the teleporter. When remastering the game, Puffballs considered slightly modifying the route so the anti-gravity cap would be the right choice, but he ended up keeping the original solution in the end.
* WordOfGod:
** Jacob Rose and Ellie Rose aren't related, as confirmed on the developer commentary.
** Despite everything indicating that The Wall is located in Russia, Puffballs confirmed that it's actually in Canada. Although this information justifies Henry and Ellie being able to go from the Wall to the Toppat space station by motorcycle since the space station is located in the South American jungle.
