!!In General
* An animatic for the series was posted on Platform/{{Vimeo}}, but was later taken down after it was discovered by and shared among fans.

!!Specific tropes
* ChildrenVoicingChildren: Most of the children have child voice actors, the exceptions among the main cast being Dade and Princess.
* CreatorBacklash: C.H. Greenblatt [[http://chgreenblatt.tumblr.com/post/152838892422/i-just-saw-on-twitter-that-the-final-episodes-of expressed disappointment in Nickelodeon]] for canceling the series and burning the remaining episodes off on Nicktoons, which gets a fraction of the audience that the former has, without even telling him, and finding out on the Nickelodeon Twitter account. Even worse is that Nickelodeon ''forced him to make a public apology''.
* CreatorsOddball: ''WesternAnimation/{{Chowder}}'' and ''WesternAnimation/{{Jellystone}}'' are zany and off-the-wall, but ''Harvey Beaks'' is a calmer, more atmospheric show.
* CrossdressingVoices:
** Andres Salaff (a member of the production team) as Princess.
** Literally, in the case of [[Series/RuPaulsDragRace RuPaul]] as Jackie Slitherstein.
** Monica Ray as Wade.
** Nick Sumida (a producer for the show) voices Randl's mother and Kathy.
* DescendedCreator:
** C.H. Greenblatt voices Dade and Jeremy.
** He also voiced Techno Bear in the unaired pilot.
* FakeAustralian:
** Both Rooter's voice actors (Laz Meiman and Addie Chandler), who are American, when voicing Rooter.
** Rhys Darby, who is from New Zealand, when voicing Rooter's father Captain Wellington.
* FakeBrit: Jeff Bennett when voicing Doctor Roberts.
* FanCommunityNickname: The production team likes to use "Beaks Freaks" for their fans.
* TheOtherDarrin:
** Creator/JacksonBrundage voiced Foo in the early episodes, but due to his voice changing (the creator said "puberty happened"), Tom Robinson replaced him starting with "Old Fashioned Dade".
** When Jeff Bennett voices Doctor Roberts, he sounds like a (very good) Matt Berry impression.
** Laz Meiman was the first voice for Rooter until he hit puberty early in Season 2. He is voiced by Addie Chandler starting with the episode "The Debt".
* OutOfOrder:
** "Steampunks" aired as the fifth episode of season 2, despite being produced as the FIRST, as it uses the season 1 opening and Michelle is still in her egg.
** "A Tale of Les Squirrels" was aired as the fifth episode, but was actually the second episode produced after the pilot.
* QuietlyCancelled: The show was not renewed after Season 2, with its finale episodes moved from Nickelodeon to the less-popular sister channel Nicktoons. Its cancellation only became public knowledge after creator C.H. Greenblatt confirmed on Tumblr that Nickelodeon had pulled the plug (he was not happy with how they treated the show).
* ScrewedByTheNetwork: As Greenblatt noted, Nickelodeon unfairly expected the show to be an instant success. When it didn't get ''[=SpongeBob=]''-levels of ratings, they switched around timeslots, went months in-between episodes, cancelled it after two seasons, and moved the last episodes to Nicktoons to make room for ''WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants'' and ''WesternAnimation/TheLoudHouse'' reruns.
** After the series concluded on Nicktoons in December 2017, reruns of the show were placed in the death slot between the hours of 2 AM and 5 AM, additionally episodes are no longer viewable On Demand.
** On June 18, 2018 the show was removed from Nicktoons for unknown reasons but returned in July with a more appropriate afternoon timeslot along with On Demand viewings. Presumably in response to the show being put on Hulu, but moved to Paramount+.
* SecondSeasonDownfall: Harvey Beaks had a relatively successful first season on Nickelodeon, before getting hit HARD with ScrewedByTheNetwork in the second. Less-than-stellar viewership of the "Steampunks" two-parter as well as the other early second season episodes meant the show getting banished to Nicktoons, cancelled shortly thereafter, and burned off its remaining episodes there.
* TheShelfOfMovieLanguishment: The final episode was delivered on June 2017. It, along with the previous 8 episodes, did not air until late December.
* ShortRunInPeru: Despite the finale airing in December 2017 in the US, it aired in some countries such as in Africa and Europe a few months earlier in July/August. This also affected the other final episodes. Prior to their US airing they were uploaded online as unreleased episodes.
* SpecialGuest:
** Creator/DanaSnyder (aka [[WesternAnimation/AquaTeenHungerForce Master Shake]]) voices the Blargus in the episode "Technoscare".
** Creator/TomKenny voices the MadScientist in "Rage Against the Michelle".
* {{Tuckerization}}: What does the "H" in C.H. Greenblatt's name stand for? Harvey!
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Harvey's last name was going to be "Tweets", but Nickelodeon didn't want to get in a lawsuit with Website/{{Twitter}}. As a result, they had to change his name to "Beaks" to avoid getting into trouble. (Any Season 1 dialogue with Harvey's last name had to be re-recorded)
** Jackson Brundage, the original voice of Foo, was also going to voice Dade. However, C.H. Greenblatt decided to take over the voice of the character because he felt his voice would be funnier for the character.
** In the original pilot version of "Pe-Choo!", Techno Bear was an adult and spoke with a Russian accent.
** Piri Piri was originally going to be a FunnyForeigner [[TheUnintelligible who spoke entirely in gibberish]].
** Had the show not been monumentally screwed over by Nick, Greenblatt had [[http://chgreenblatt.tumblr.com/post/154923836417/can-you-give-us-some-clues-about-what-the-harvey planned some elements]] for a possible third and fourth seasons:
*** After Foo and Fee's parents returned in the Season 2 finale (which ended up being the series finale), they would've moved to Littlebark in Season 3, and the twins would've acted as parents to their own parents. Also, the Season 3 finale would've been about the past of Harvey's grandpa Roland, and what happened to his wife. Afterwards, he would've permanently moved with the family in Season 4.
** One scrapped episode idea featured Miriam getting sent to prison after getting into an argument with her mother (who is a retired judge).
* WorkingTitle: Had a bus-load of them during the series' development, as well as production of the pilot and most of Season 1.
** The original title was "The Terrible Three", but it sounded too childish and bizarre.
** Another old title was "Grass Stains" which didn't make any sense.
** "Woodlandia" was another early title for the series and presumably the setting's original name.
** The series would've also been named after its main setting, "[=LittleBark=] Grove".
** "Bad Seeds" was also the name of the series during production of the pilot and most of Season 1. According to Greenblatt, he was unable to keep this name due to copyright issues, so the property became renamed.
** "Harvey Tweets" had to be changed into "Harvey Beaks" as listed above.
* WriteWhoYouKnow: The episode "Icky Chicky" was based off a writer's experience babysitting a boy who still kept a chicken plush from his infancy. By that point, the toy was completely worn out, looking almost exactly like Harvey's own Chicky.
