* The ObliviousToLove treatment on both ends effectively makes it hell for both Meimi and Asuka Jr. for an extended period of time as they both ''continually'' fail to notice each other's feelings, all while suffering.
* Asuka Jr. seeing Meimi in Saint Tail's reflection in chapter/episode 13 is especially played this way in the manga version, where his expression looks completely ''shattered'' as he parses the implication that the girl he's been developing a crush on might also be the thief he's been charged with arresting, along with all of the other uncomfortable implications that comes with. It's no wonder he has to rely on SelectiveObliviousness to cope afterwards.
* Chapter 15/Episode 23 is both the chapter/episode that properly reveals the full meaning of the flower-and-snow CreationMyth and the chapter Meimi starts actively pushing Asuka Jr. away out of fear, making the immediate contrast between her mention of "the flower that could be near the snow" (i.e. her feelings of wanting to be with him) before pushing him away even more heartbreaking.
* Chapter 19/Episode 29 has Asuka Jr. staring at Saint Tail with an expression that's somewhat difficult to read but has a [[LongingLook very clear sense of longing]] (this is particularly clear in the manga version of the scene, where you can see the pain ''very'' visibly on his face). At this point, he's in a very difficult state with his complicated feelings about potentially losing Meimi, his subconscious suspicion that he's actually looking at her right now, and desperation to get a proper answer to all of this... but not only is he forced to let go, Saint Tail also ''still'' thinks he only wants her to stay so he can arrest her.
* Meimi's severe insecurity hits peak in chapter 21/episode 40 when her [[OneDialogueTwoConversations utter misinterpretation]] of what Asuka Jr. had told her in the previous chapter/episode leads her to believe that he'd found some other girl he'd fallen in love with, meaning that Meimi is so unwilling to believe he could ever love her that she has an easier time believing he'd found some unnamed girl with some accidental resemblance to Saint Tail. Which is only made worse by the fact that in a later bonus manga chapter, even after everything is settled, Meimi is ''still'' convinced that she's just some inferior version of Saint Tail to him, meaning it really is that hard for her to register the idea that he can actually love her.
