{{Slasher Smile}}s in anime and manga.

[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder:Anime]]
* ''Anime/AttackOnTitan'': Armin pulls one of [[http://rebloggy.com/post/shingeki-no-kyojin-mikasa-ackerman-snk-spoilers-armin-arlert-shingeki-no-spoiler/82223194331 these]] in the second OVA when Jean suggests stealing meat from the commander's office. Makes you wonder how far off the deep end he truly is, doesn't it?
* ''Anime/BlackButler'': In the second season, [[CreepyChild Alois]] likes wearing either this or a PsychoticSmirk. The most notable example is the one he wears right before [[EyeScream stabbing Hannah's eye out with his fingers]].
* [[GameBreaker Q]] from ''Anime/CControl'' is usually the typical quiet EmotionlessGirl, but when she starts to fight seriously [[TheBerserker all that]] [[ScreamingWarrior goes down]] [[ImAHumanitarian the drain]]. And when she uses "[[SignatureMove Cannibalization]]", this [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_cannibalization.png trope ensues]].
* Touma of ''Literature/ACertainMagicalIndex'', Episode 9. So very creepy and so very ''very'' [[Awesome/AnimeAndManga awesome]].
** And {{in|vokedTrope}}tentional. Considering he's not even an antihero, the psychological warfare aspect is neat.
** Accelerator is always seen with an evil smile when he is enjoying a good fight or a massacre, maybe because his awesome powers makes many times the fights boring, for example when an army tried to beat him,[[spoiler: when the Misaka sisters tried to fight him and one the most boring "fights" he had was when Mikoto Misaka tried to attack him, he really looked bored]].
* ''Anime/CodeGeass'':
** [[Characters/CodeGeassLelouchLamperouge Lelouch Lamperouge]] right after he successfully orders a collective suicide with his handy-dandy new [[HypnoticEyes geass]]. Being [[DespairEventHorizon only]] [[RoyallyScrewedUp semi]]-[[EvilLaugh crazy]], he otherwise reserves it only for special occasions (such as having just added another few digits to his kill count).
** This is also the apparent default expression for any Geass thralls ordered to kill someone. [[FridgeHorror Including themselves]].
*** V.V. has one during most of the time he's piloting the Siegfried against the Black Knights during their attack on the Geass Order.
* ''Anime/CowboyBebop'':
** PerpetualFrowner [[EvilCounterpart Vicious]] rarely smiles. This only makes it spookier when (in "[[Recap/CowboyBebopSession5BalladOfFallenAngels Ballad of Fallen Angels]]") he flashes a particularly chilling slasher smile right as he's picking up the AntiHero lead ''[[NeckLift by the neck]]'' and ''[[DestinationDefenestration throwing him through a stained glass cathedral window]]''.
** Tongpu from "[[Recap/CowboyBebopSession20PierrotLeFou Pierrot Le Fou]]" sports one throughout the episode.
* ''Anime/CyberpunkEdgerunners'': Maine flashes ''[[NightmareFace one of the most pants-shittingly terrifying ones imaginable]]'', complete with a haunting, bug-eyed gaze of pure insanity, which he delivers to the Trauma Team battle medic who was unlucky enough to be the first to enter the scene to secure the patient while he's going full tilt into Cyberpsychosis.
* Senku's smiles from ''Manga/DrStone'' border on this whenever he says, "[[{{Catchphrase}} Get excited.]]"
* Black Goku from ''Anime/DragonBallSuper'' sports a big one when he is about to kill off Future Trunks.
* In the filler "Garlic Jr. arc" in ''Anime/DragonBallZ'', when Piccolo is infected with the Black Water Mist and turned evil the first thing he does to let us know this to break into one of these smiles. [[spoiler: Turns out he's actually faking being infected though]].
* Anemone from ''Anime/EurekaSeven'' displays a few of these when she fights.
* K of ''Literature/FromTheNewWorld''. [[https://randomc.net/image/Shin%20Sekai%20Yori/Shin%20Sekai%20Yori%20-%2014%20-%2020.jpg Holy hell.]] A kid should '''not''' have such a bloody face, let alone unleash a tranquil yet heart-stoppingly horrific smile after killing 1,000 people in a single day.
* When [[spoiler:the fake Ashleigh Crichton]] backstabs his allies in pursuit of a Philosopher's Stone in ''Anime/FullmetalAlchemistTheSacredStarOfMilos'', he moves from his relatively open and friendly smile to a sadistic grin. At this point his AffablyEvil demeanour [[FauxAffablyEvil vanishes entirely]].
* ''Franchise/{{Gundam}}'':
** Desil Galette from ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamAge'' sports a horrific one when he casts off his cute child persona at the end of Episode 13. Seriously, you wouldn't imagine a ''seven year old'' to look like '''[[http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IWY-LG-jmfg/TwlbgMeS3TI/AAAAAAABwJc/g2FQ6GUsTu8/s1600/67.jpg this,]]''' would you?
*** [[spoiler: And if you know that Desil's alive in the Second Generation, [[BlatantLies don't you worry!]] [[FromBadToWorse THEY GET]] '''[[http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qCuRvMd5Vdk/T0o_JO_HiNI/AAAAAAACE9Q/aqoyxSiGRHc/s1600/7.jpg INFINITELY]] WORSE.''']]
*** Thought Desil was the only one who could smile so horrifically? [[spoiler:Arabel Zoi]] [[http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/File:Alabel-141.png has something for you...]]
** Shani Andras and Auel Neider of ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEED'' and ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny'' wear these as their normal expression. Their fellow {{Super Soldier}}s Orga Sabnak, Cortho Bauer, and Sting Oakley have also been known to crack them out from time to time.
* ''Anime/KillLaKill:'' [[TheDragon Nui]] [[CuteAndPsycho Harime]] is [[FauxAffablyEvil constantly smiling and giggling]] as she makes fun out of screwing around with [[TheHero Ryuko]] [[HotBlooded Matoi]]. But then Ryuko finally shows her up in Episode 22 and [[AnArmAndALeg permanently chops Nui's arms off]] with the recovered halves of the [[ShearMenace Rending Scissors]], nullifying Nui's HealingFactor and leaving her... "armless". The moment it sinks in to Nui that Ryuko is actually going to ''kill'' her (and Ryuko has every right to, since [[YouKilledMyFather Nui murdered Ryuko's father]]), [[VillainousBreakdown Nui completely loses it, dropping her cutesy-poo facade]] and flashing a terrifying "this trope" while [[MadnessMantra ranting on about how much she hates Ryuko]]. Since her breakdown sticks for the rest of the show until her death, she is usually seen afterwards either grinning sadistically if not screaming in rage.
* At the end of the ''Anime/KnightHunters'' [=OAV=], Ken Hidaka perfectly calmly prepares to kill the man who tried to set up the deaths of his entire team. Then he actually pulls the trigger.
* ''Anime/LastOrderFinalFantasyVII'' Sephiroth who only ever has a PsychoticSmirk in the original game other media, cracks a surprising grin when clashing with Zack Fair in midair.
* ''Anime/HeroMask'' has designated SerialKiller Grimm. [[https://66.media.tumblr.com/fca6a09c6f70ab8bb5f8ec9665021e5b/tumblr_inline_pjafeb64sG1ta8abs_1280.png Check it out for yourself]].
* '' Anime/NarutoShippuden'': [[BigBad Kaguya Ōtsutsuki]] sports one as a gigantic transparent image of her slowly forms in the sky looking down on Earth from space.
* The [[QuirkyMinibossSquad Numbers]] {{Cyborg}} Due from ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers'' whenever she goes for the kill, which is almost every scene she's in.
** Nanoha and Signum when they got [[BloodKnight carried away]] during a tactical exhibition.
** Also [[MadScientist Dr. Jail Scaglietti]] in ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers''.
** Another one, coming from ''Force'', is Cypha of Huckebein. The number of times her smiles ''weren't'' this kind could be counted on one hand... if there were any to count. The only other expressions she exhibits are either stoicism or [[OhCrap being scared shitless from underestimating her opponent]].
* Dr. Hell from ''Anime/MazingerZ'' and ''Anime/GreatMazinger'' never smiled. He GRINNED (usually when he thought he was winning or believed he had won. Or simply when he felt people were frightened of him). And it was deeply disturbing. It was even creepier in ''Anime/{{Mazinkaiser}}''.
** Tetsuya Tsurugi, TheHero from ''Anime/GreatMazinger'', was a BrokenAce usually wore a grim, angry or bitter expression. But when he grinned in battle, it was ''very'' eerie.
* Asuka cracks a lovely example of this smile when fighting the Mass Production [=EVAs=] in ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion: End of Evangelion''.
** And the EVA units gives it right back, as [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Eva01NightmareFuelRight.png EVA Unit 01]] and [[http://ghostlightning.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/neon-genesis-evangelion-end-of-evangelion-eva-series-smiles.jpg the Mass-Produced EVAs]] demonstrate.
** Even Shinji shows a couple, most of them during the battle with Zeruel.
** Some people regard [[CreepyChild Rei's]] rare smiles this way as well.
* ''VisualNovel/OokamiKakushi'': The maid in the second half of Episode 12 advances on Hiroshi while simultaneously unbuttoning her uniform top and flashing her best smile.
** Issei indulges in this as well.
** And in Episode 11, [[spoiler: whenever Sakaki, now having [[AxCrazy gone off the deep end,]] actually ''does'' smile, he alternates between this, and SmugSnake smirks. Naturally, the latter is a little less creepy.]]
* Shonen Bat/Lil' Slugger from ''Anime/ParanoiaAgent''.
* The first episode of ''Anime/Persona4TheAnimation'' has Yu with a (completely heroic and yet still disturbing) slasher smile on his face while summoning Izanagi for the first time.
* ''Anime/PokemonTheSeries'':
** Jessie, in her crazy moments. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTHp22vLBpo Here's an example]] (Tracey Gets Bugged, Episode 97)
** If a Pokémon has sharp teeth and isn't UglyCute, expect its grin to look like this.
** PlayedForLaughs with Sophocles. He's a little...''too'' interested in the Rotom Dex; wanting to "examine" its "programming" while brandishing a screwdriver.
* [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/DrossSlasherSmile.jpg Drosselmeyer's smile]] in ''Anime/PrincessTutu'' would almost seem like a CheshireCatGrin if it wasn't for the fact that he's [[WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity stark raving mad]] and takes pleasure out of people's suffering.
* Sayaka from ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica''. After being pushed close to her DespairEventHorizon she is seen smiling and {{laughing|Mad}} while [[NoKillLikeOverkill tearing into a witch with her sword]]. A witch that [[spoiler:looks like her love rival]]. While covered in blood. While her best friend watches on. [[BreakTheCutie Poor girl.]]
** Sayaka does that again during her conversation with Homura in ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagicaTheMovieRebellion''. She flashes a menacing-looking grin [[spoiler:as her reflection becomes that of Oktavia. Homura tries to attack her, but Sayaka transforms into Oktavia and vanishes, leaving only her cape behind.]]
** [[spoiler:Homura Akemi herself]] [[WhamShot very, very briefly]] develops one in ''[[Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagicaTheMovieRebellion Rebellion]]'' as [[spoiler:Madokami comes down to take her to heaven]]. It serves as a short and extremely unsettling warning that something's about to go ''horribly'' wrong, confirmed about thirty seconds later when [[spoiler:Homura proceeds to hijack Madoka's powers]].
* ''Anime/QueensBlade'': Right before she blows up a part of Vance Castle in Episode 1 in an attempt to kill Reina, [[PsychopathicManchild Melona]] flashes a grin that's all teeth and malice and WAY too big for her face.
* In the 10th episode of ''[[VisualNovel/PhantomOfInferno Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom]]'', when Reiji begins chasing after Scythe Master, he starts breaking into [[http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b162/MisterC/Phantom/cap178.jpg this]] twisted grin. Combined with his creepy laughing and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rE8IYTMzzTs&feature=channel&list=UL this]] little piece playing in the background and the whole thing easily goes into Nightmare Fuel territory.
* Chiri gets one completely out of the blue at the end of an episode of ''Anime/SayonaraZetsubouSensei''. Its utterly random appearance combined with its [[MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily large number of teeth]] made it horror in its purest form.
* The AntiHero protagonist of ''Anime/ShamanicPrincess'' directs one at her rival after completing her first TransformationSequence, made even creepier by her weird eyes. It's one of your first clues that [[DarkerAndEdgier this is not your average]] MagicalGirl anime.
* ''Anime/{{Symphogear}}'':
** Main protagonist Hibiki has been known to sport a "rage face" that entails her face (if not her entire body) becoming an entirely black void that sports a crazed grin and [[RedEyesTakeWarning soulless glowing red eyes]]. This occurs because of her gear overtaking her given how rather than merely possessing it like the other Symphogear users, its fragments were lodged into and have proceeded to merge with her body.
** Maria manifests the exact same rage face and whole body transformation as Hibiki when she attempts to activate Ignite Mode for the first time in her fight against Garie.
** ''Everyone'' briefly assumes the same rage face and whole body transformation at the end of ''AXZ'' when they activate Ignite Mode in the FinalBattle against Adam.
* ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann'':
** This is Viral's most common facial expression. Which is fitting, given that [[SharkMan he's part shark]] and has the jagged rows of teeth to match.
** Simon also gets [[http://www.gurrenlagannepisodes.com/image-gallery?func=detail&id=2246 one of these]] when he [[spoiler:turns on Rossiu and yells at him about how Rossiu's "gods" killed Kamina]].
** Lordgenome in Episode 15 sports one while he is beating the shit out of a mecha ''with his bare hands''.
** Kittan gives us two very good Slasher Smiles; [[http://oi53.tinypic.com/4pwdjr.jpg one in the Parallel Works video starring him,]] and [[http://i33.servimg.com/u/f33/12/03/89/51/kittan10.jpg an especially badass one]] in Episode 25.
* Dilandau from ''Anime/TheVisionOfEscaflowne'' has every kind of slasher expression in the book.
* ''Anime/YuGiOhGX'':
** Hell. Kaiser. Ryo. Half the time, he keeps the [[TheStoic stoic]] expression he had before he turned bad. The other half? He's ruthless and he loves it.
** Also from GX, Saiou/Sartorius at first only sports a PsychoticSmirk but graduates to this as a sign that he has been completely taken over by The Light of Ruin.
** ''Anime/YuGiOhZEXAL'': Vector, to highlight his insanity.
** ''Anime/YuGiOhArcV'': "Awakened" Yuya was capable of giving these out constantly.
*** [[https://i.ytimg.com/vi/OxMK7y-aPxU/maxresdefault.jpg Rin manages to give a ''very'' unsettling one]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Manga]]
* Kunitoshi Joukyuu, the protagonist of ''Manga/{{AIKI}}'', loves using these.
* Agito of ''Manga/AirGear''. He has this whole shark fang thing going on.
* Iwao Washizu from ''Manga/{{Akagi}}''. The smile gets wider and wider the more time he's on screen.
* ''Manga/AngelDensetsu'''s Kitano.
** Subverted as that's his ''default expression'' and he's actually one of the [[AllLovingHero nicest characters in the history of fiction]]. For others however, nightmare indeed.
* ''Manga/AssassinationClassroom'':
** Koro-sensei is a PerpetualSmiler, who's almost always seen with a CheshireCatGrin. Whenever he's angry or—more commonly—particularly mischievous and breaks out his GameFace, his smile turns into this trope full-force, with his teeth becoming a lot sharper and more menacing. And more than once, his students have been right there with him.
** There's also [[SociopathicHero Karma]]. Like Koro-sensei, he usually has either a CheshireCatGrin or a chill expression on, but he displays all kinds of [[https://i2.paste.pics/C9D6W.png terrifying]] [[https://i2.paste.pics/C9DB3.png smiles]] when he's feeling extremely bloodthirsty and devilish.
* ''Manga/AttackOnTitan'':
** [[spoiler:Annie]] smiles like this [[spoiler:when she is correctly accused of being the Female Titan]]. Made even creepier since this is [[spoiler:the only smile (or any other expression other than indifference) she's given so far in the series]]. Take a look at the way it's rendered at the [[https://78.media.tumblr.com/63c53e1848d390b529fcce60567897bd/tumblr_inline_mrrcqpUetL1qz4rgp.png manga]]. [[NightmareFuel Sweet dreams]].
** This is also the default expression for some of the Titans due to the way the skin on their faces has stretched. Here is an ''epic'' [[https://i.ytimg.com/vi/4OF75bFGEk4/maxresdefault.jpg specimen]]. No wonder [[spoiler: Reiner]], of all people, freaked out.
** Eren frequently has one whenever he's thinking about [[https://i.ytimg.com/vi/tsxahj83ToQ/maxresdefault.jpg killing Titans]], or when he [[spoiler: threatens to make Reiner and Bertolt's deaths as "painful as possible."]]
** [[spoiler:Armin]] of all characters, pulls one while [[spoiler: lying to Bertholt about how Annie is being subjected to torture.]] It's actually kind of jarring.
** In Chapter 51, [[spoiler:Erwin]] sports one after finding out that [[spoiler:Titans were once humans]]. It was so unnerving that even ''[[TheStoic Levi]]'' was disturbed by it.
* Osaka's attempt to "wake up" Yukari in ''Manga/AzumangaDaioh'' fell into this from a different angle. Osaka always looks a bit blank, and she was half-asleep when she tried it... which just resulted in her standing in the doorway with a blank, empty smile and a large knife. She had no violent intentions, but she sure [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37mPoKQijj8 looked like]] someone was gonna get stabbed.
** Probably ''her''. Earlier in the episode she expressed a lifelong dream of waking someone by banging a ladle on a pan next to their ear. The only thing keeping Osaka from cutting off her own hand was Yukari woke up when Osaka opened the door.
** A slightly more trope-y Slasher Smile (more of a Slasher Smirk) is [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyPLkjD3-SI&feature=related here]], at about 0:40.
* When Guts, the AntiHero from ''Manga/{{Berserk}}'', smiles, it is usually one of these. This should be your signal to run, as he's usually in a blood-spilling mood when he's got that grin.
** [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Guts_slasher_smile_7502.jpg This one in particular is pretty unnerving.]]
** The 90s anime did a [[https://pa1.narvii.com/5671/4b377750b978f16a61416251a3f7b5a39df69240_hq.gif good job too.]]
** [[VillainWithGoodPublicity Griffith,]] the true villain of Berserk, prefers the PsychoticSmirk than anything else.
* ''Manga/BlackButler'' has a few examples even in the original Manga adaptation:
** Grell Sutcliff sports these on occasion, especially due to [[MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily her shark teeth.]] Made even better and creepier by the fact [[UsefulNotes/{{Transgender}} she]] had just finished murdering someone a few seconds ago and is covered from head to toe in blood. Too bad it is rarely seen outside of action scenes, because she's too busy being a goofball, playing with safety scissors. But when [[http://www.kuroshitsujimanga.com/57/15/ she]] [[http://www.kuroshitsujimanga.com/57/16/ does]] [[http://www.kuroshitsujimanga.com/58/32/ show them]], best not to stay around.
** Surprisingly, Mey-Rin can flash one as well, [[https://i.imgur.com/xWtGHR8.jpg as evidenced in Chapter 165.]]
** Sebastian sports one whenever he gets to tear a roomful if enemies limb from limb, sometimes even cackling as well.
* AntiHero example and a subversion: Revy from ''Manga/BlackLagoon'' routinely wears this kind of grin when she's busy gunning down bad guys, particularly during the first major shootout of the series, where [[NaiveNewcomer Rock]] sees her smile for the first time and is extremely creeped out. However, that's just Revy on a normal day. What you ''really'' want to watch out for is when she ''drops'' the grin and goes all emotionless and monotone, because that's when she stops pointing her guns at the bad guys and starts pointing them at ''[[AxCrazy everyone.]]''
** In the manga arc ''El Baile De La Muerte'', Roberta, as her sanity continues to spiral downward into {{Ax Crazy}}ville, starts sporting these. And so came the time when she snapped one of Shenhua's kukris, WITH HER TEETH, while wearing THE slasher smile of slasher smiles. Badass.
** CreepyTwins Hansel and Gretel take this trope to a ridiculous level. Think vampires.
** Balalaika's a kid in a candy store during the "Fujiyama Gangster Paradise" Arc. She's ordering hits, snapping necks, and [[spoiler: holding a gun to Rock's head]] with that ''huge'' grin.
** And, more and more, ''Rock'' has been showing a SlasherSmile. You first see it right at the beginning, when Revy challenges Rock, a Japanese ''salaryman'', to a drinking duel.
* Mahiro Fuwa in ''Manga/BlastOfTempest'' seems to have an emotional spectrum that ranges from 'indifferent' to [[http://i.imgur.com/OvtVSVB.jpg this]]. Frighteningly enough, [[spoiler:he's regarded as far less of a threat than his [[StepfordSmiler best friend]].]]
* ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'':
** This is used to identify characters who fight for the [[BloodKnight love]] or [[AxCrazy madness]] of fighting rather than higher ideals, such as with Kenpachi, Ichigo's inner Hollow, Ikkaku, Nnoitra, Ginjou, [[spoiler:and Unohana]]. Ichigo sports one in battle sometimes as well, usually when under the control of his inner Hollow.
** This is used to identify [[MadScientist scientists]] unleashing their chance to experiment on others ForScience or reveal any bizarre inventions they have created. This tends to be as much a [[MadDoctor problem]] for their allies as for their enemies. Examples include Mayuri and Szayel..
*** Possibly one of Mayuri's greatest moments with this is in Chapter 593, when [[spoiler:he injects a zombified Hitsugaya with a drug that forces him to repeat his past over and over again, asking him if he remembers when he was drugged]].
** It is used to emphasise a character on the battlefield is unhinged and descending into insanity, such as with Tsukishima and Nianzol.
* Joshua Christopher of ''Manga/ChronoCrusade'' has a tendency to smile like this, thanks to the demon's horns on his head driving him insane.
* Riful from ''Manga/{{Claymore}}'' shows one when [[spoiler: she first encounters the Abyss Feeders]]. Made creepier by the fact that [[spoiler: there's a large bite out of her head]].
** Ophelia wears one as her usual facial expression because, well, she's what happens when you give TheOphelia a BFS.
** Taking Ophelia's cruelty to new heights, [[PsychoLesbian Roxanne]] has an ''arsenal'' of rather unsettling smiles. In fact, some of her smiles are also her {{Nightmare Face}}s: for example, while losing all her limbs by [[spoiler: a recently resurrected [[TragicVillain Cassandra]]'s Awakened Being form]] she reacts like [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/claymore/images/b/b3/Roxanne_eaten.png/revision/latest?cb=20180706124329 this]].
*** Here is another [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/claymore/images/d/df/Roxanne4.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20120201143309 example]], occuring when she [[spoiler: pummels Cassandra with her claymore's handle]].
* Go ahead, mess with [[spoiler:Shiro]] from ''Manga/DeadmanWonderland''. You're going to wish you never did once [[SuperpoweredEvilSide the Wretched Egg]] takes over and [[http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lxyclm554b1qzl4tgo1_500.jpg unleashes a unsettling grin]] (complete with a '''''skrkt''''' sound effect, no less). [[spoiler:Even moreso [[http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m6pnv3QDHG1rsqhhxo1_500.jpg without]] [[http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lq7hbxQMLc1qce4iao1_500.jpg her mask.]]]] [[spoiler:Chapter 53 takes the best of both worlds and makes an already chilling smile incredibly worse.]]
* ''Manga/DeathNote'': [[spoiler:As L dies,]] before he [[spoiler:closes his eyes]] he sees [[Characters/DeathNoteLightYagami Light Yagami]] looking at him with one of these. [[spoiler:Higuchi, too,]] after getting the Shinigami Eyes. One look at that creepy face and death will follow, without the Death Note.
** Light again, during the finale (at least in the manga), sports one so big he gets cross-eyed.
** Mikami Teru, one of the most psychopathic of the Kiras, also sports one of these on occasion.
** The Death God Ryuk also has one permanently etched to his face, along with MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily. Light showed what a badass he is when he only was seriously freaked out for a few seconds, when Ryuk spontaneously appeared in his bedroom.
* In ''Manga/DemonSlayerKimetsuNoYaiba'', quite uncharacteristic for someone as a kind as Tanjiro, but in a pure rush of adrenaline and satisfaction for finally feeling he and everyone has gotten the upper hand over Hantengu Tanjiro smiles like a mad man; Hantengu's evil disgusted Tanjiro so much that the prospect of winning over the demon really overjoyed him. Then at the very end of the series, when [[spoiler:Tanjiro is turned into Muzan's last creation, his successor as the demon king as Muzan is about to die for good, the newly formed demonic Tanjiro sports a really malicious smile to really drive home he became a new being entirely; Tanjiro's time as a demon is short lived though, he is cured by the same vial that helped kill Muzan]].
* ''Manga/DGrayMan'''s Tyki Mikk will do this sometimes. This is a sign that he's [[BeatStillMyHeart about to pluck out your heart]]. The [[BigBad Millennium Earl]] is a cross between this, a StepfordSmiler, and a MonsterClown with his perpetual huge, cheery, and absolutely ''horrific'' grin. In fact, every single member of the Noah family seems to do this occasionally.
** Which now includes the Fourteenth, which is downright disturbing considering [[spoiler:[[TomatoInTheMirror his host is]] Allen Walker. Seriously, who expected the kid to ''ever'' look like this?]]
*** And now [[spoiler: Allen]] doesn't even need the 14th Noah to do this. Somehow, he manages to make such smiles ''even worse.''
** And when the Earl is pissed off, the preexisting smile goes [[SerialEscalation so far off the deep end]] that hiding under the bed begins to seem like a very attractive option. Meep?
** For someone who doesn't smile very often (or only smirks), Kanda seems just too creepishly happy when the room collapses on him and everything turns into empty space in the Ark. When he comes back, he starts his day by arguing with Allen rather than thinking about how he could've died.
** Road Kamelot does this sometimes as well too, especially when she starts to get too much fun out of tormenting the main characters.
* ''Manga/DragonBall Z'': Zarbon manages one that's ''just'' twisted enough to be freaky, just before transforming into a... [[OneWingedAngel rather unattractive salamander-looking thing]].
** Captain Ginyu breaks into one [[spoiler: right before he uses his body change ability to switch bodies with Goku]].
** Frieza often has [[https://78.media.tumblr.com/944829ae9d61ee7b5b2985df22bb1f2b/tumblr_inline_nkm606v00R1sowhjk.gif one]] on his face, most notably when [[https://media.giphy.com/media/kXY0CA4v8mKXe/giphy.gif committing genocide]] on the Saiyans complete with EvilLaugh.
*** Golden Frieza has a particularity ugly [[https://pm1.narvii.com/6498/cb8b0d5ab7c994fa4ab67ca20466a8388b3b74f0_hq.jpg one]].
** Who could forget [[http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZJjScyCywYY/UC_Dv5flHNI/AAAAAAAAGkc/Ei_befSvAiQ/s1600/Cell-dragon-ball-z-16072250-521-751.jpg Cell?]] [[https://i.ytimg.com/vi/knnqwVyPr8M/maxresdefault.jpg Imperfect]] (with no teeth) and [[https://i.ytimg.com/vi/15RuE0LKnbA/hqdefault.jpg Semi-Perfect too]]
** And Gohan, ''[[NiceGuy Gohan]]'' sporting a downright menacing one while blowing Cell away with a one-handed Kamehameha.
** Vegeta gets a magnificent one after getting possessed by Babidi and becoming [[https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/4c/b0/28/4cb02888cb2494dd9ab209527813c6b1.gif Majin Vegeta]].
*** Even before that, he sports [[http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/7O5_dtPiWvo/mqdefault.jpg one]] after he kills Jeice.
** Super Buu and Kid Buu smile like this by default since they're both textbook definitions of AxCrazy characters (or forms in this case).
** All the movie villains wear one, but Broly is the [[https://33.media.tumblr.com/fab16dd207af3a4d9c95882b3558aae9/tumblr_inline_n9jxh0oVkI1rbpimx.gif strongest example]].
** Super Android 17 from GT deserves a [[https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/d0/5a/a8/d05aa82b1f8c4adbbe89d303b36d8091.gif special mention]] complete with drool.
** ''Goku'' of all people sports one right before he turns Super Saiyan 3 for the first time.
* Just about everyone in ''Manga/{{Drifters}}''. It could even be said the heroes do it more than the villains.
* ''Manga/DuskMaidenOfAmnesia'' gives us the horror that is [[http://static.zerochan.net/full/15/05/1040265.jpg Shadow Yuuko.]]
* Hiruma Youichi from ''Manga/Eyeshield21'' has one of these, aided by his fang-like teeth and his habit of constantly carrying large guns when not on the field. In fact, he does it so often that he scares his teammates when he DOESN'T have a slasher smile, and uses it to his advantage against his opponents.
* There's been a few characters who do this in ''Manga/FairyTail'':
** The crown for the most disturbing SlasherSmile goes to an all-around psychopath named [[AxeCrazy Jackal]], a member of Tartarus, which he sports while [[spoiler:'''slaughtering the Magic Council''', as well as forcing a SadisticChoice on Lucy involving her choosing whether to save the life of a former Magic Councilor... or a pregnant woman, who was crying and trying to reassure her unborn child that everything would be okay]]. Yes, the Tartarus arc took the DarkerAndEdgier level of this series to heights unseen.
** [[spoiler:Though a machine manages to give him a good run for his money. The arc's DoomsdayDevice, Face, a large pillar with, well, a [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin face]] on top, looked kinda stoic when we first see it. It turns out there's more though,and we see some with...rather creepy smiles on them.]]
** [[spoiler: That's nothing. Mard Geer, anyone?]]
* ''Manga/FruitsBasket'': Hatsuharu Sohma's SplitPersonality, Black Haru, has some pretty disturbing smiles that are nonetheless better than the alternative (in the vein of "I'm going to ''love'' kicking your ass" is better than "I'm going to kill you").
* ''Franchise/FullmetalAlchemist'':
** Both Envy and Kimbley have serial slasher smiles.
** Greed, [[spoiler: both his first body and in Ling's]], have this. Pride's shadows also usually have this default expression as does [[spoiler: his body after he eats Gluttony]]. Must be a family trait since Father was shown to have one [[spoiler: back in the days where he was only a blob in a flask]] and he can still pull it off as shown [[spoiler: When he leaves his 'human form' which is just a humanoid blob with these and eyes]].
** Barry the Chopper has one built into his helmet.
** Some of the minor characters even have these, such as General Raven, when he's trying to offer someone immortality and in his EyeCatch, and also some of the more unsympathetic State Alchemists that participated in the war.
** In the [[Manga/FullmetalAlchemist manga]] and ''Brotherhood'', Truth almost always has this expression on his face, because [[JerkassGods he's a sadistic dick]] who enjoys handing out ironic but [[DisproportionateRetribution disproportionate punishments]] to people who try to break the laws of the universe. The only exception is [[spoiler:when Ed correctly offers to sacrifice all of his alchemist powers to get Alphonse back]], Truth displays a ''real'' happy smile as he cheerfully [[spoiler:congratulates Ed on choosing the right answer and opens the way for him to retrieve Al and dissolves into nothingness]].
** Wrath from ''Anime/FullmetalAlchemist2003'' constantly has these, especially when he's fighting.
** Gluttony adopts a slasher smile after [[spoiler:Dante destroys his vestiges of humanity]] in the 2003 anime.
** Also in the 2003 series, Lust adopts an eerie one when she attacks Scar in the 18th episode.
* [[AxeCrazy Yuno]] [[{{Yandere}} Gasai]] of ''Manga/FutureDiary'' has a smile on her face on a more or less permanent basis. She is... not well.
** Minene also sports a kill grin as her default expression, though unlike Yuno, she keeps her cool most of the time.
* ''Anime/{{Gankutsuou}}'': The eponymous Count wears a rather terrifying example of this when everything is going according to plan (which usually involves a humiliating and/or painful death).
* Yomi from ''Manga/GaRei'' puts one on when she's under control of the Sesshouseki. It's even creepier when her eye colour inverts.
* Kuroudo Akabane from ''Manga/GetBackers'''s happy face.
** Ban pulls one as well, specifically just before he fights Fudou.
** Even [[spoiler:Kazuki]] gets to pull this in the manga, both while [[spoiler:BrainwashedAndCrazy]] and under the influence of [[spoiler:his SuperpoweredEvilSide.]]
* With ''Manga/GetterRobo'', it'd be easier to list the characters who ''don't'' have one of these plastered on their faces most of the time. Ryoma in particular seems to have this as his natural expression.
* Kagura from ''Manga/{{Gintama}}'' [[http://gallery.minitokyo.net/view/418521 gets one]] when her Yato side kicks in harder than she can control.
** Also her brother, Kamui.
** Even Shimaru does this to Katsura while the latter gave him intoxicated tea.
** Besides the above examples, this trope is usually PlayedForLaughs.
* Ryuuhei Sawamura and Bryan Hawk of ''Manga/HajimeNoIppo''.
* The Master of Synapse from ''Manga/HeavensLostProperty''.
* It's hard to find a minor/major character in ''Manga/{{Hellsing}}'' who doesn't invoke [[http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac200/esetios/Hellsingsmiles-1.png this trope.]]
* ''Webcomic/HetaliaAxisPowers'': Russia signature move when he's not being a StepfordSmiler or wearing a PsychoticSmirk.
** Japan imagines Italy pulling one in the strip where he makes binoculars to read people's thoughts. "I'll touch the back of your head to my heart's content", indeed.
* Kohta Hirano, from ''Manga/HighschoolOfTheDead'', often dons one when fighting "Them". Contradicts nicely with his [[BewareTheNiceOnes usual personality]].
* ''Manga/HisAndHerCircumstances'': there are instances where Yukino Miyazawa sports one of these.
** In the anime Yukino gets an epic ''series'' of different slasher smiles in a rampage after [[spoiler: Tsubasa]] presses her BerserkButton.
* Tsuchiya gets one in ''Manga/{{Holyland}}'' Chapter 144 just before he turns a fight around.
* Killua from ''Manga/HunterXHunter'' gets [[http://www.onemanga.com/Hunter_X_Hunter/21/13/ one]], holding not a knife, but the [[BeatStillMyHeart still beating heart]] of his latest victim.
* This is Koko Hekmatyar's default facial expression in ''Manga/{{Jormungand}}''. Though she rarely does her own dirty work, the fact that she is a [[ArmsDealer dealer of death]] makes this appropriate.
** Also her older brother, Kasper and his bodyguard Chiquita.
* Akura-ou from ''Manga/KamisamaKiss'', being a PsychopathicManchild, has this as his default facial expression. One of the main protagonists, Tomoe, also tends to sport one when he is about to do something nasty. [[spoiler: Small surprise since he used to be Akura-ou's partner in crime.]]
* Half the cast of ''Manga/KarakuridoujiUltimo'' probably has one. It doesn't matter who it is. Piss off anybody and you'll be greeted with any of these expressions.
* Kaguro from ''Manga/{{Kekkaishi}}'' almost constantly has one of these, and an endless supply of lethal blades to back it up.
* In ''Manga/KimiNiTodoke'', when Sawako Kuronuma tries to smile it usually look like this.
* Warsman, from ''Manga/{{Kinnikuman}}'', is a cyborg. Predictably, he normally can't smile... unless he's in his batshit psychopathic personality, in which case he sports the [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Warsman Smile.]] He did use it once, while normal, to catch an arrow in his mouth, though.
* One episode of ''Manga/KyouNoGoNoNi'' mentions how nobody remembers seeing EmotionlessGirl Kazumi Aihara ever smile. If the first episode is any indication, it's because her smiles end up as one of these...
* [[{{Yandere}} Mimi]] of ''Manga/LovelyComplex'' wears one of these when threatening Risa.
* ''Manga/MajinTanteiNougamiNeuro'': Neuro has a psychotic grin most of the time, and ''then'' he reverts to a parrot-headed-EldritchAbomination. There's also the twisted, insane looks of the criminals as they confess.
* Michiko from ''Anime/MichikoAndHatchin'' sports one right before she breaks through a police roadblock.
* In the final page of the Japan only ''VideoGame/MegaMan10'' manga titled "Rockman 10 -Extra F-", Bass pushes this to the absolute extreme.
* In ''Manga/{{Monster}}'', the unspeakably evil Johan Liebert, commits MindRape on a former cop who had killed a boy while drunk and is trying to atone, playing on his guilts. He eventually asks him how he would look his estranged daughter in the eyes and then realizes that he's got him, and then makes one of the most [[https://imgur.com/a/WLgEROa unsettling and terrifying smiles]] imaginable before asking "[[DrivenToSuicide well Richard, how about a drink?]]"
** The likes of [[http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/obluda/images/d/db/Roberto-glee.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140114063618 Roberto]], Peter Čapek, Hartmann, and Christof Sievernich have some quite unnerving slasher smiles in their own right.
* Shark Fujishiro from ''Manga/MyBrideIsAMermaid'' often pulls off a lot of these right before trying to eat Nagasumi.
* ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'': [[PsychopathicManchild Tomura Shigaraki's]] face is usually hidden by a disembodied hand covering it. However, when that hand is off and he shows his face, he's capable of making [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CVbnGs3U8AAvO6F.jpg some pants-crappingly creepy smiles]]. He gets it from his master and adoptive father, All For One, whose scarred visage further highlights his constant, eerie grinning.
* Akane and Akari seems to do this at least once per chapter in ''Manga/MyMonsterSecret''. Considering the light-hearted tone of the series, the trope is completely PlayedForLaughs. Later, Karen seems to be playing the trope seriously, until she reveals her NiceGirl side and began saying adorable things while making this face.
** Box Girl ([[WalkingSpoiler WALKING SPOILER]]) gives a horrifying one [[http://img.bato.to/comics/2017/03/02/j/read58b78320bc196/img000012.png here]].
* ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'':
** Gaara displays a particularly frightening one of these during his fight with Rock Lee during the Chuunin Exams, after Lee knocks off the sand armor covering his face. It gets worse. Apparently he has that [[http://images4.fanpop.com/image/polls/694000/694494_1303278710690_full.jpg expression]] ''24/7''. It's only hidden by the sand armor. After his HeelFaceTurn, Gaara lost the creepy smiles.
** Here's another exemplary performance from [[https://i.ytimg.com/vi/yjWwrvXXJp8/maxresdefault.jpg Gaara]].
** During particularly grueling battles, Naruto (or rather the Kyuubi displays this, most notably when Sasuke talks to the Kyuubi in Naruto's mind).
** Naruto also (by himself) displays ''two'' slasher smiles in the [[{{Filler}} 101st episode]] of the anime.
** [[PsychoForHire Hidan]] often wears one in battle.
** Zetsu seems to have this whenever he's battling someone.
** Kisame. The only times it usually leaves his face are when he's using a jutsu and has to expel water from his mouth.
** Kabuto gains one after he [[spoiler:absorbs Orochimaru's DNA.]]
** Sakura gets one in a [[PlayedForLaughs comedic fashion]] after Konohamaru insults her.
** In Chapter 628, The normally-stoic Madara Uchiha instantly develops an [[https://weareawesomeness.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/bubliton-contest-628.jpg?w=497&h=710 epic one]] when he feels the First Hokage's chakra. Between him, Sasuke, and Itachi, it looks like terrifying expressions are just another part of the BigScrewedUpFamily.
** In Chapter 677, as Madara activates the Infinite Tsukiyomi, we get the wonderful picture of [[http://i.imgur.com/sfCZYPs.png Kaguya gazing over the world with the moon as her Third Eye]].
* ''Manga/NegimaMagisterNegiMagi'' has [[PsychoLesbian Tsukuyomi]] doing one of these when she fights Setsuna.
* Even a nice guy like Monkey D. Luffy of ''Manga/OnePiece'' gets one of these, in the 8th opening for the show after landing on a marine ship. Luffy [[https://media.tenor.com/_ue_QyMfgQMAAAAC/luffy-smile-smile.gif is full of epic grins]].
** Zoro does [[https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/40/f1/c8/40f1c8500f7b73c3e7cdf4d738aa9c0d.jpg this]] often too, which is suitable for a character who is often accused of being insane…or a demon.
** Sanji cracks some good ones in series, notably towards the end of [[https://cm.blazefast.co/6d/7d/6d7dd598378b254420286c512632af1c.jpg his fight with Jabra]] and later when [[https://cm.blazefast.co/f1/00/f10038fbfcdacd5241cab04e42cb9341.jpg fighting Oars]]. But his grin when talking about taking down Big Mom viva cake is the winner.
*** [[spoiler: Sanji's brothers Yonji and Niji do this often, [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C_KDOOEXoAAUqsK.jpg Yonji]] when taunting the Straw Hats and later Niji who gives an especially [[https://pm1.narvii.com/6540/436da5aa4f77ca52a4aac35dfaa9e96d95050126_hq.jpg creepy one]] when he's about [[WouldHitAGirl assault]] Cosette]].
** Gecko Moria has a permanent one, but it's most apparent during his VillainousBreakdown.
** Donquixote Doflamingo has this as his default look, appropriate for what seems to be One Piece's counterpart to ComicBook/TheJoker.
** [[EvilRedhead Eustass Kidd]] sports one almost all the time, Funnily enough, his face even looks quite similar to the Joker, but even he isn't quite as psychopathic as Doflamingo.
** Blackbeard has had a few.
** This happens to the Straw Hats (minus Luffy and Nami) when Oars has his horns stuck to the ground and unable to move. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYa9SOuyowE Cue the Straw Hats' slasher smiles]] and a nonchalant, epic, off-screen beatdown of Oars.
** Much like the Oars example, Luffy, Robin and Zoro get slasher smiles (and GlowingEyesOfDoom in the anime) when they reach the cold side of Punk Hazard and see centaurs wearing warm clothes.
** Trafalgar Law rarely shows any emotion, but when fighting [[DoubleAgent Vergo]] he lets [[https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRULM8RamzUmC13LJZG7eMofSGBFrOT2gpPOw&usqp=CAU one]] slip across his face.
** CreepyChild Sugar gets one of these in Chapter 758 when she goes after Luffy.
*** Dellinger is even [[https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/onepiece/images/0/00/Vicious_Dellinger.png/revision/latest?cb=20161221020835 worse]], right up to NightmareFuel standards.
** Sabo may be NiceGuy but that grin he has when enraged at Burgess [[https://thumbs.gfycat.com/HarmfulBruisedIbizanhound-size_restricted.gif oh Jesus]].
** [[spoiler: Ladies and gentleman, say hello to [[https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSqCRcKgrCKP-CizuEBifDYRMxgj2f7GKQfjw&usqp=CAU Pudding]] Sanji's blushing bride to be.]]
* Two [[PersonOfMassDestruction teens of mass destruction]] of ''Manga/OutCode'' lapse into this when their real personalities are exposed (PsychoForHire and {{Manipulative B|astard}}itch, respectively). Interestingly, both of these characters were [[DelicateAndSickly frail-looking girls]]. The MadScientist who gave them their powers seems to owe his look to [[Franchise/SailorMoon Dr. Tomoe]].
* Harry from ''Manga/OutlawStar'' gives a creepy one when Gene figures out he's been trying to MindRape Melfina and another when talking to Melfina [[NotSoDifferentRemark about how they're not so different.]]
** Aisha Clanclan is usually found either smiling a mischievous smile or a genuine smile, due to being a bit of a GenkiGirl. But when she gets an excuse to fight with the full power of a Ctarl-Ctarl, such as when she realizes her opponent in an MMA fight [[spoiler:is also a Ctarl-Ctarl in disguise]], [[https://i.pinimg.com/originals/dd/da/88/ddda88ed9b7b85e61c9218a6eb321c1f.gif her smile]] becomes considerably more malicious.
* Lots of characters in ''Manga/PandoraHearts'' pull one of these at times. Especially the Baskervilles and Will of the Abyss.
** Break does this at times too.
* ''Manga/Reborn2004'': Birds. And Mukuro as well. Hooo Boooy...
** A few members of Tsuna's [[strike: harem]] family do this sometimes too, namely Gokudera, and Hibari.
** Xanxus too. His smile is ''terrifying'' [[strike:[[DracoInLeatherPants and hot]]]].
** Bel [[spoiler: and his twin]]. Who also adds CheshireCatGrin and [[GigglingVillain evil giggles]] to the mix.
** A certain BigBad named Byakuran.
* Several characters in ''Manga/RosarioPlusVampire'' pull this off nicely, but the best example would be [[OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent Aono Tsukune]] in his "[[SuperpoweredEvilSide Ghoul]] [[AxCrazy Form]]." Bonus points for grinning at an attack just inches from his face and then proceeding to [[CurbStompBattle beat the shit out of everyone in front of him]].
* The various {{Blood Knight}}s in ''Manga/SamuraiDeeperKyo'' often have this in their faces while really enjoying a fight. Top dog Onime no Kyo combines it with RedEyesTakeWarning ''and'' the GlowingEyesOfDoom to create a visage unparalleled in its ominousness.
* Gyororo from ''Manga/SgtFrog''.
** We also see Keroro with a manic grin on his face when he learns Natsumi is [[WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes afraid of slugs]].
* In ''Manga/SoulEater'', Maka gets one of these when she [[spoiler: [[http://randomc.maximum7.net/image/SOUL%20EATER/SOUL%20EATER%20-%2021%20-%20Large%2007.jpg goes completely nuts while fighting Chrona]]]].
** Medusa, whenever she makes [[http://randomc.animeblogger.net:8000/image/SOUL%20EATER/SOUL%20EATER%20-%2022%20-%20Large%20Preview%2003.jpg one of her]] [[http://randomc.maximum7.net/image/SOUL%20EATER/SOUL%20EATER%20-%2031%20-%20Large%2012.jpg crazy faces]].
** Stein on [[http://randomc.maximum7.net/image/SOUL%20EATER/SOUL%20EATER%20-%2029%20-%20Large%2014.jpg several]] [[http://randomc.maximum7.net/image/SOUL%20EATER/SOUL%20EATER%20-%2018%20-%20Large%2013.jpg occasions]], but particularly when [[http://randomc.maximum7.net/image/SOUL%20EATER/SOUL%20EATER%20-%2023%20-%20Large%2022.jpg he goes nuts while fighting Medusa]].
*** Additionally, his appearance during the anime's second opening has him sporting one as well.
** Asura gets them pretty often, being insane and all. [[http://randomc.maximum7.net/image/SOUL%20EATER/SOUL%20EATER%20-%2023%20-%20Large%2033.jpg They're]] [[http://randomc.maximum7.net/image/SOUL%20EATER/SOUL%20EATER%20-%2042%20-%20Large%2026.jpg pretty]] [[http://randomc.animeblogger.net:8000/image/SOUL%20EATER/SOUL%20EATER%20-%2050%20-%20Large%2036.jpg impressive]].
** Oh, and [[http://randomc.maximum7.net/image/SOUL%20EATER/SOUL%20EATER%20-%2020%20-%20Large%2024.jpg the Imp]]. It's even worse [[http://randomc.animeblogger.net:8000/image/SOUL%20EATER/SOUL%20EATER%20-%2050%20-%20Large%2003.jpg when he's in Soul's body]].
** They seem to be the stock expression for mad characters; it's [[http://www.onemanga.com/Soul_Eater/69/01/ weird]] to see ''Justin'' sporting one, especially with that visor obscuring his eyes.
** Even the Moon has one in this series.
** Even the Woobie, Crona, has a few!
* Legato Bluesummers from ''Manga/{{Trigun}}'' has probably the most nonchalant one ever.
** His boss, Millions Knives, has quite a few of his own.
* Kurogane from ''Manga/TsubasaReservoirChronicle'' often does this. In fact, that's the only way he ''ever'' smiles.
* ''Manga/VinlandSaga'': Thorfinn, when he does smile. Thorkell's is more of a Slasher Grin, with a big thumbs up thrown in there.
* Robo of ''Manga/WastefulDaysOfHighSchoolGirls'' [[EmotionlessGirl rarely ever smiles]], but when she does it's rather unsettling if Ota is to be believed.
-->'''Akane:''' I haven't seen Robo smile like that in a long time.
* Haguro and Ryuuko of ''Manga/WolfGuyWolfenCrest'' revel in this.
* ''Manga/YuGiOh'': Dark Marik constantly sports one.
** Dark Bakura often has one as well, even moreso during the final arc.
** Not so much in the anime, but during the Death-T arc in the manga both Kaiba brothers each get a couple at the prospect of killing Yugi and his friends.
*** Seto actually sports one a lot in the manga, especially when he's about to crush an opponent during a duel.
** In the early chapters of the manga, when Dark Yugi just awakened from his 3000-year long slumber in the Millennium Puzzle, appearing like he still had a few screws loose, [[http://ravegrl.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/littlekuriboh_reviews_yu-gi-oh_1.jpg?w=550 he almost always sported one...]] especially when he declared to a rival that they would undergo a "Penalty Game" if they lost to him. He sports it from time-to-time in later chapters, but by then he mostly favors the [[SmugSmiler cocky grin]] and whenever he inflicted a Penalty Game, it was more of an intense, scary frown.
** Dartz gets one when [[spoiler: he uses the Seal of Orichalcos in the final battle against Yami Yugi and Kaiba.]]
** Quite a majority of the Duel Monsters themselves sport permanent slasher smiles, especially the more demonic ones. Heck, Slifer the Sky Dragon looks like he has TWO!
* In ''Manga/ZatchBell'', we have [[http://www.onemanga.com/Zatch_Bell/158/18/ this little beauty]] from Zofis.
