2	Still upset over their super asymmetry theory being disproven, Sheldon tries to find hope from a tape made by him as a child (Creator/IainArmitage). When Howard auditions for Magic Castle, Bernadette turns into a stage mom.

5	* AllForNothing: Subverted. After seemingly losing their Super Asymmetry theory in the previous episode, George Sr.'s speech is what convinces Sheldon to look at it from a different angle, reviving it.
6	* {{Crossover}}: With ''Series/YoungSheldon'', via a video taped by Sheldon when he was younger.
7	* IdiotBall: The physicist Leonard thinks the curtain will be safe from the flames because they're in water, forgetting a pretty basic fact about physics: fire rises.
8	* MourningAnObject: As a way of moving on, Sheldon and Amy hold a symbolic funeral for their theory.
9	* NotSoDifferentRemark: After watching his father's RousingSpeech that George taped over Sheldon's childhood speech, adult Sheldon remarks that he always thought that their journeys were different but they both faced disappointments and setbacks.

11	* RousingSpeech: Sheldon had taped one as a child for his older self. Unfortunately, his father taped over it. However, later in the tape there's a video of George Sr. giving his team a pep talk. It was this speech, not the one he made for himself, that ends up motivating Sheldon.
12	* ShaggyDogStory: Bernadette encourages Howard to audition for the Magic Castle. Howard does try out at the end of the episode, but he botches it when his attempt at magic trick ends with him accidentally breaking the Rolex he borrows from his audition judge for said magic trick.
13	* SomethingOnlyTheyWouldSay: Overlaps with TrustPassword. To prove to the young Sheldon on the VCR that the person watching is the adult Sheldon, the one on the tape asks the viewer what he is thinking now. They both respond "Robot Monkey Butler."
14	* TapedOverTurmoil: Sheldon finds to his dismay that his father had taped a football game over his video to himself... although he later admits that he remembered the whole speech anyway. It later ends up helping him anyway when he finds that the new footage captured a RousingSpeech his father gave to his football team.
15	* TemptingFate: PlayedForLaughs when Leonard, Penny, Sheldon, and Amy give a VikingFuneral. Amy expresses doubt about its safety, so Leonard assures her that it IS safe, since it's in a bathtub filled with water. Barely a second after Leonard's statement, the curtains are set on fire, prompting the "funeral attendants" to throw bathtub water at the curtains to put out the fire.
16	* TheUnreveal: Sheldon takes out a tape he made for himself as a kid in case he ever needed motivation. Young Sheldon's advice to Older Sheldon was… taped over with a football game by his father at the most crucial moment.
