* Quan Chi's one of the most despicable villain of the entire timeline, being a ruthless demon from the Netherrealm that's murdered Scorpion's entire family and clan, [[WouldHurtAChild including children]]. His deep booming voice will send chills down even the bravest individual's spine and every ending he's in show what a vile monster he is, slaughtering allies and foes alike.
* Sub-Zero's ending, specifically when Quan Chi's head rolls right in front of the camera after being blown up by Scorpion.
* Both of Reptile's fatalities:
** Face Chew: In which he gnaws the skin off his opponent's head.
** Acid Puke: In which he levitates in to the air and pukes acid all over his opponent, reducing them to nothing but a bloody skeleton.
* Fujin's Wind Skinner fatality does exactly what you think it might do; Fujin uses high speed winds to skin his opponent alive.
* Meat. A bloody skeleton with bits of muscle attached.
* [[HaveANiceDeath The]] GameOver [[https://youtu.be/tusqdmFHjnU?si=Ga-tBUPua5bPQ2BE sequence.]] It's not the [[ForegoneConclusion inevitable impact with the ground]]. It's the set-up, especially the music, what really drives the point it home. Five seconds of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EB_GI7ATE-w this]] are more than enough to make you desperate to pop another quarter or to beg the character to just die already. It doesn't help that in the arcade version of the game, the well darkens slightly as the chosen character is fated to make impact unless you pay up.
* This game had a special type of grab called "Bone Breakers", which meant grabbing an opponent's limb and cracking it at the elbow or knee (with the knee being especially gruesome by bending the opponent's knee ''backwards''). SickeningCrunch obligatory, obviously.
** Taken to the extreme with Tanya's Kiss of Deceit fatality. She kisses her opponent, causing their arms and legs to bend backwards, their torso to twist and their head to twist before finally, mercifully exploding.
