Rachel Sermanni (born 7 November 1991) is a [[FolkMusic "folk-noir"]] artist from Strathspey, [[UsefulNotes/BonnieScotland Scotland]]. Active since 2010, she has produced two studio albums as well as a live album and a number of extended plays, primarily under the equally Scottish indie label ''Middle Of Nowhere''. [[note]]Which is something of a MeaningfulName when one considers how sparsely populated that area of Scotland is.[[/note]] She is known for her sparse and moody sound, smoky voice and bizarre, fairy-tale imagery in her lyrics, which are [[WordOfGod apparently]] inspired by [[BasedOnADream her own dreams.]]

Her first album, ''Under Mountains'', is much folkier than the second, [[NewSoundAlbum ''Tied To The Moon,'']] which has more of a rock flavor.

!!This creator's work has examples of:

%%zce* DeadpanSnarker: Shows shades of this in concerts.
* OminousFog: A whole song about it: ''The Fog''.
** Although this fog could be interpreted as a visualization of a [[SanitySlippageSong gradual loss of control.]]
* RereleaseTheSong: The [=EPs=] ''The Boathouse Sessions'' and ''Everything Changes'' share two tracks: ''Black Hole'' and ''Two Birds''.
* PrefersGoingBarefoot: In some of her music videos and press releases, as well as gigs.
* ScaryMusicianHarmlessMusic: [[InvertedTrope Inverted]]. She has quite a quiet and polite stage presence between songs, but her music can be [[NightmareSequence quite]] [[SurrealHorror disturbing.]]
* SpookyPainting: The cover of ''Under Mountains'' sports a bed with a faceā€”an [[EyelessFace eyeless]] one at that. Oh, and the hills have eyes.
* SurrealHorror: A common theme in her music.
** ''The Fog''.
-->"''Under skies of pressing sky upon my dress,''\
"''Watch it turn from white to red under the bone clean moon,''\
"''I am clinging to this burning, shaking bed...''"
** ''I've Got A Girl'' sounds like a light-hearted love song. [[SubvertedTrope For a few seconds.]]
*** It's actually about a creepy doppelgänger [[BasedOnADream she encountered in a nightmare.]]
