''Pillars of Pentegarn'' is the third book in the ''Literature/EndlessQuest'' {{Gamebook}} series.

A young child named Jaimie happens upon a party of adventurers on a quest to take back the ancient castle of Pentegarn (the wizard leading the expedition) from the control of the Evil One.

Was one of the few books in the series to get a direct sequel, ''Literature/RevengeOfTheRainbowDragons''

!!''Pillars of Pentegarn'' provides examples of:

* FighterMageThief: The make-up of Pentegarn's party, excepting Jaime and the animals. Baltek's the fighter, Pentegarn himself is the mage, and the elven Lydia is the thief.
* FountainOfYouth: Finding the two magic treasures needed to take on the Evil One makes Pentegarn younger and more powerful.
* GenericDoomsdayVillain: The villain of the book's just called "the Evil One", and nothing's revealed about him except being a powerful evildoer. The book can't even settle on what he's called, and refers to him as the Evil Master once or twice too.
* IneptMage: Losing his kingdom and the source of his former power haven't been kind to Pentegarn, who goofs his magic as often as he lands it on this quest.
* KidSidekick: Jamie's basically one to the whole party.
* LukeIAmYourFather: Jaimie is Pentegarn's great-grandson, which explains how he can talk to animals.
* MagicStaff: The party's main goal is to get the mighty Staff of Kings away from the Evil One.
* NonHumanSidekick: Jaimie has a pair of animal friends, a talking fox and a talking owl ([[ADogNamedDog named Fox and Owl]]). They're even friends with a talking ''tree'' at the very beginning of the book, but obviously it doesn't get to go on the adventure with them.
* TheOwlKnowingOne: Jaimie's owl buddy is portrayed as the wiser, more patient one.
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: The reason why a kid with no appreciable skills ends up making the major decisions for a party of seasoned adult adventurers. This quest is Pentegarn's last desperate attempt to regain his kingdom and his companions are the best he could do, so there's no real cohesion in the party. Jamie deciding which plan to go with results in it getting two votes, and breaking the tie.
* RedheadsAreRavishing: The fighter Baltek is smitten with his new ally the redhaired thief Lydia. Jaimie finds her beautiful, but he's too young to be thinking much about that kind of thing.
