Context Headscratchers / BeybladeBurst

Go To

* Young Bladers like Valt and Shu are shown going to school. Well, how often do they take time on education compared to Beyblade? Do they even do homework?
** Maybe they do. We just don’t see it, because it’s just an anime.
* How did Boa get that scar, starting from Episode 27? Some good [[FanficFuel Fanfic Fuel]] here.
** Maybe the same way Shu got his scar?
** Maybe something ''a lot'' darker?
* A lot of characters are at an unknown age, especially those in the second season. But a lot of fans debate on Norman’s age, for a variety of reasons. So what ''is'' his age?
** Some suggest he’s only in his midteens. That causes friction, because some accuse Norman/Theodore shippers of supporting a pedophilic ship.
** Maybe he’s around late teens, around 18-20. He sounds like an adult, but he looks fairly young. The International Blader’s Cup lets in Kurt, who seems to be an adult as well. Perhaps the tournament accepts no one past full adult?
*** Then again, a lot of characters in this series are younger than they seem to be.
** Some people just make him a full adult, probably as a shipping excuse.
** ''Turbo'' seems to be having the same problem with Phi and Hae-jin. While Xander, despite being 6 feet tall and muscular, could (probably) be excused, Phi and Hae-jin seem to already be adults, yet the latter was allowed to compete in the Luinor Cup. Perhaps this is ''Burst's'' way of saying that Beyblade is for anyone, not just children?
* In the International Blader's Cup, why did Shu destroy Nightmare Luinor, Twin Noctemis, and Valtryek's Reboot tip, but not Ark Balkesh, Alter Cognite, and Boom Khalzar?
** Maybe the destroyed Beys belonged to those he saw as significant, and are actually some sort of “threat” to him.
** Still doesn’t explain why he destroyed Ghasem’s Maximus Garuda. Seriously, the guy did absolutely nothing to warrant that.
* What’s up with the referee in this series? The referee doesn’t seem to do anything whenever a Bey breaks (there are no disqualifications or such).
** Official tournament rules state that a Beyblade that breaks or is broken is not eligible for play, thus disqualifying it. (Unless they allow you to swap it out for the exact same part).
** The series is more grounded to reality than Metal Fight, which means "commanding" the bey doesn't control it. Once it's launched, the breaking is not anyone's fault unless you use an intentionally worn down part.
** I take it whenever a bey breaks, it counts as a Burst. Especially since there are times where a bey gets broken by accident, and the only people that would go out of their way to break Beys are Phi and Aiger under the influence of Dark Resonance. Even then, the ref treats it as a Burst Finish. I guess it helps that the majority of the characters that had their beys broken end up getting them repaired/fixed at one point, even strong Bladers such as Valt, Shu, Lui, Aiger, and even Free.
** Breaking mid-battle is excusable as you aren't really using some remote control or Metal Saga-like Beyblade to break it. The real question is why wasn't Kurt disqualified? He clearly was trying to break Genesis Valtryek's layer with his foot on TV. You can even see him lift his leg up high as if he were preparing to step hard.
* How did Raul get his cybernetic eye?
** Sadly, that's never explained. I guess when he was working on a Bey, he got into an accident that cost him his eye. He does love to mess around with advanced technology after all, so it was bound to happen.
** Or, it's possible that given his old age, he was losing vision in his left eye and so got the lens to restore it.
* What's with the lack of language barriers? Nearly everyone on the show speaks with American accents (in the dub), and speaks fluent English.
** Considering that characters are traveling all over the world, language barriers would indeed make sense. However, given the amount of nationalities represented in ''Evolution'' alone (Spanish, Japanese, British, French, American, etc.), it would become extremely annoying if characters frequently had to stop interactions just to ask each other what the heck they're saying.
* Why doesn’t the anime ever acknowledge that Zac and Count Nightfell are brothers, nor that Ange and Kit are mother and son?
** Probably because it's not important to the plot or an integral part of their character. Think about it: it's important to know the relation between Toko, Nika, and Valt, because the former two are the siblings of the protagonist, and cheer him on when the going gets tough. It's important to know the relation between Ryota and Daigo, because that's who Daigo is giving his all for. It's important to know the relation between Rantaro and Ranjiro, because Rantaro taught Ranjiro how to blade, and inspired him to become a blader. It's especially important to know the relation between Phi and Hyde, because their argument in their youth is what caused Phi to go on his Bey-breaking spree and kick off the plot of the second half of the third season. However, it's not important to know that Kit and Ange, nor Count Nightfell and Zac are related, respectively, because it doesn't impact anything.
* Why didn't Kris and Trad think to question on whether or not Stan was being honest when he spread that rumor about Valt and Rantaro joining AS Gallus? And why didn't anybody (sans Shasa) listen to their side of the story?
** A ''lot'' was going on at the time that had everyone on edge. Remember that it happened during a time where people were leaving BC Sol left and right (most notably their ace Free) and they were in the midst of a losing streak. At that point, Valt and Rantaro were the best bladers of the team but they were also the newest additions. When Stan, one of their veteran members, thinks they are also leaving and he tells everyone else that, it's kind of natural that they're quick to assume the worst. Valt and Rantaro can also be too laid back for their own good which annoys certain other characters. Shasa is the only one to look past this because it's clear she is built as the most rational character on BC Sol as a whole. Trad doubting Valt and Rantaro is somewhat understandable, as he often gets on those two more than anyone, but Kris not believing them when she's supposed to be the ReasonableAuthorityFigure is a bit surprising as she always tries to hear out both sides. Then again, out of everyone affected by Free's departure, she took it the hardest so thinking that two more bladers she had personal high hopes for are going to ditch her as well must have hit a nerve.
* How did Valt become the World Champion by winning the International Blader's Cup if it's an unofficial tournament hosted by Theodore, and one in which the participants are hand-picked by him instead of being taken from a pool of national champions? Granted, some of them ARE national champions or top-ranked bladers, but Cuza, Norman, and Boa definitely aren't, and one could argue Norman and Boa are mainly there because of their Snake Pit connections.
** It is quite possible if you are someone with a lot of time, money, and power which is something Theodore definitely has. The man has access to advanced technology where some are used by present day bladers. Not to mention he had most of the top-ranked bladers by his side to help bring in the appeal. It's quite possible to afford to pay for a world-wide tournament where the winner will be recognized as the top blader in the world. This is what happened in Season 1 and 2 of the '''Metal Saga''' where the BigBad Doji hosted the first season's tournament and the father to the hero for this series was the one that funded the Season 2 tournament.
* Since Shu is the manager of the Raging Bulls in ''Turbo'', what happened to Theodore, the former manager? Did he just give the position over to Shu?
** With his main plan of creating his own army of strong bladers under his control failed, maybe he just decided to step down and give up on that dream. Shu made a HeelFaceTurn, Free already returned to BC Sol, and Joshua pretty much got cast aside after his actions in the team tournament finals. Moreso, considering Shu was his top project that clearly surpassed anyone that the Snake Pit had to offer (even speculated to be able to beat Free in battle). However, he probably just left suddenly after one last chat to Kris and Shu decided to pick up his group (as, once again, he was pretty much Theodore's best blader).
* People take Beyblade training too seriously and even hurt themselves in the process. Why? Just how much of an impact does Beyblade have in the sports economy or even the world in general that would make people go through so much pain for essentially a top game?
** TruthInTelevision. People in real life risk their well-beings for the sports they love such as wrestling, boxing, skateboarding, etc. Beyblade is the main sport of the series that people of ages all-alike can compete in. Plus, I only really seen truly serious bladers such as Lui, Shu, and Free would go that extra mile in their training (hell Free is the only one that was close to permanently ending his career as a blader due to his excessive training but he was trying to keep his reputation as the strongest blader in the world in check).
* What happened to everyone's custom launchers in Surge? Shu no longer uses a Dual Launcher and isn't seen swapping it for a different direction, Aiger doesn't use a trigger, Free's carabiner and weight are gone, Rantaro's Knuckle grip is gone, and Dante no longer uses a Light Launcher.
