''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11301202/1/Shinnen-New-Year Shinnen:New Year]]'' is a ''Anime/GuiltyCrown'' Main/MegaCrossover co-author fanfic by [[https://www.fanfiction.net/u/1236084/Ford1114 Ford1114]] and [[http://www.fanfiction.net/~Kanius Kanius]] of their personal take being set years after the anime. This special ‘23rd episode’ is about the canon versions of Shu, Ayase, and Tsugumi meeting new people such as their ''Fanfic/GuiltyCrownTheLostKingdoms'' counterparts and [[Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica the Magical Girls]], while there are many subplots to celebrate New Years Eve in Manhattan. However, when Da’ath makes their return with their own LegionOfDoom, it’s up to the heroes and villains teaming up to stop then, while the canon!Shu confronts his past for his salvation.

This is also taking place in ''Fanfic/KaniusProductionAbridged'' as the fourth story, where these corners have parodied what its like for the crossover characters to have parties. The main fanfics that are use in this shared universe are ''FanFic/YuYuGiDigiMoon'', ''FanFic/DigimonFusionKai'', and ''Digimon Accel Stream''. However, ''Shinnen:New Year'' stands out as a sophisticated special with grimmer situations, despite retaining the same tropes. It is also served as the series finale to that fanfic franchise.

!This fanfic provide examples of:
%%* TheAbridgedSeries: By the time this story is release, WebVideo/YuGiOhTheAbridgedSeries and the Abridged series in general celebrate their 10th anniversary in 2016.
* ActionizedSequel: To ''Guilty Crown'' and Kanius Production Abridged's ''House of Madoka''. This has a lot more intensive fights and deaths.
* AdaptationalBadass: There are characters that obviously have one:
** Upon getting his powers back in Chapter 12, Canon!Shu's skills in using the Void Genome improves and has a headstrong attitude in stopping GHQ/Da'ath.
** Canon!Ayase plays a major role in receiving a new Endlave that's much stronger than her previous ones.
%%** Many of the ''Literature/SwordArtOnline'' characters receive this treatment due to their abilities carried over to the real world that allows them to fight on par with meta-humans and other strong beings.
%%* AdaptationExpansion: Between the final episode and the epilogue, this is a more expanded take of what happens when Canon!Shu Ouma and his friends have a new adventure.
%%* AncientConspiracy: Da’ath makes its reemergence.
%%* AnimatedActors: Like in past segments, this is the main trait the characters have.
%%* ArtificialHuman: There's Inori II, Marvel characters, and metahumans such as the Chimeras and the West Coasters.
* AscendedExtra: Yuu and Da'ath themselves, going from minor characters and GreaterScopeVillain to the main antagonists.
%%* BigBad: Da'ath is shape to be this.
%%* BittersweetEnding: Though Canon!Shu eventually finds the respect he deserves, he returns back to his normal blind self in the epilogue.
%%* BreakingTheFourthWall: This is one of the main themes, though it's downplayed this time.
%%* CerebusRollercoaster: There are moments of seriousness in this crossover.
* ContinuityNod:
** Despite being a stand-alone mega crossover, this references past Abridged corners/stories alongside Guilty Crown itself.
** House of Madoka, the fancy party club that the magical girls owned for the characters is mentioned many times as a past experience of a fun celebration.
%%* DarkerAndEdgier: This story is building up to be this.
%%* EliteFour: The Da'ath Heavenly Kings.
%%* {{Dramedy}}: Has a lot of signs of this.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Chapter 1 has ''Film/JurassicWorld'' mentioned as one of the movies shown in the festivities, then the ''Indominus rexes'' and other hybrids appear as part of Da'ath's army.
%%* FourIsDeath
* TheGoodTheBadAndTheEvil: The heroes are the good, the villains are the bad, and Da'ath are the evil.
%%* TheGovernment: The Lost Kingdoms version of GHQ.
* GrandFinale: It's the finale of the Fanfic/KaniusProductionAbridged series.
%%* HappilyMarried: Canon!Shu and Ayase, though Shu miss Inori a lot.
%%* HeroesUnlimited: Most of Japan's superheroes, especially the YYGDM founders that are viewed as the WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague.
* {{Kaiju}}: Godzilla, King Ghidorah, and Mothra makes an appearance. The Kaijus from Film/PacificRim also make appearances by siding with Da'ath.

%%* MagicalGirl: The Puellas, Sailor Senshi, and the Valkyries.

* {{Mythology}}: First appear in Chapter 6 that many deities and visitors have their divine celebrations. Prominent examples are Myth/ClassicalMythology and Myth/NorseMythology. Not only that, but religion exists in this shared universe.
%%* LaResistance: The Lost Kingdoms versions of Funeral Parlor takes over the original's positions.
%%* SelfParody: Just like its previous corners.
%%* SerialEscalation: This crossover is jam-packed with action and plot twists in a greater scale.
%%* ShellShockedVeteran: Canon!Shu is shown to be this big time ever since he is blind and loss Inori.
* TakeThat:
** In Chapter 2, the LK!Guilty Crown characters talk about how the actual anime have mix receptions with the audience and the YYGDM characters shunned Canon!Shu. This shows some payback at the inconsistent writing Guilty Crown has, though it still saddens for our main character (which takes it much further at the end of Chapter 19).
** Chapter 9 has Linkin Park songs heard during the Dragonball and Naruto scenes, indicating how the music band is so overused back in the early days of anime fandom and [=AMVs=]. Minako's rant on Sasuke and the Naruto franchise in general connects the authors' interest on Naruto fades since their mindsets have change, it's also to remind how the fanbase is so flawed.
** Chapter 31. They have [[spoiler:Superman from WebAnimation/DeathBattle killed by Inkarnierte Mana as making fun of its fanboys]]. And also, [[spoiler:Sasuke killed gives the middle finger to Naruto flashbacks]].
%%* {{Valkyries}}: They are involved in the conflict by helping the united forces.
