The thing about Chaos is that one never knows what to expect. Even then, the God of Chaos himself showing on Applejack's porch and declaring his undying love for her came completely out of left field. Despite the predictable instant rejection, unpredictably Discord remained resolute in romancing the farm pony, and even decided to ask a professional for advice.

Can Princess Cadance teach Discord to change himself to something Applejack will accept? Will Applejack be won over by Discord's unique charm? Will Big Macintosh be able to deliver his apples with the spirit of disharmony tagging along?

!!This Story demonstrates these tropes:

* BelligerentSexualTension: Building heavily with Applejack to Discord. She's admitting she enjoys his humor and finds his goofy looks endearing while bemoaning his interest in her in the same breath at this point.
* CrackPairing: Discord, the God of Chaos, and Applejack, the down-to-Earth farmpony.
* CoconutMeetsCranium: Well, an apple in this case, but the effect is the same. Like Newton, leads to a Eureka moment.
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: Discord and his [[InsaneTrollLogic unique method of thinking]] lead to many instances of this happening, though whether he genuinely doesn't get it or is just trolling someone flips equally often.
* DeerInTheHeadlights: Turns out, the thought of ruining a romantic interaction is one of Discord's few fears, which Cadance discovers when the time comes to knock on Applejack's door.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: Cadance mentions this is why she hates Manehattan so much, [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E8RarityTakesManehattan since they wouldn't show you any gratitude even if you were a princess]], and that if she were to ever turn evil, she'd blow up this city first.
* EurekaMoment: Discord feels a pang of sadness as he observes the Cakes while an apple falls on his head at the same moment, making him realize he's pretty lonely [[InsaneTrollLogic and marrying Applejack is the sway to resolve the problem]].
* FourthDateMarriage: Parodied, as Discord tries to propose to Applejack with an elaborate wedding backdrop before the mare even knows he's trying to romance her. Naturally, she immediately rejects his offer, much to Discord's confusion.
* HappilyMarried: Despite the increased absurdity of the story of the source material, Cadance and Shining Armor's loving relationship stays constant.
* InsaneTrollLogic: As the poster child of a MadGod, Discord operates on this level. Of note was how he decided Applejack was his soulmate; while sitting in a conjured tree, he saw the Cakes being HappilyMarried with their kids, then felt a pang of loneliness at the same time an apple fell on his head. From the collection of coincidences, he concluded that he loved Applejack and is destined to marry her.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Discord, just as his canon personality. Makes hilarious moments, but leads to a serious problem when he's trying to convince Applejack she should give him a chance, as he's coming across as arrogant and selfish in exactly the manner that Applejack can't stand. A lot of the story is Discord working to overcome that character flaw, such as actually helping Applejack around the farm despite it being 'degrading.'
* LemonyNarrator: First person and with multiple narrators, but it's clear the author is having a fun time writing the story, with plenty of silly asides, jokes, or general snark.
* PalsWithJesus: The Oranges with Cadance, although slight twist in that Cadance grew close with them back when she was a regular pegasus filly instead of an Alicorn Princess. Cadance and the family still get along swimmingly.
* RhetoricalQuestionBlunder: Being a RealityWarper, Discord is quick to punish those why ask him these types of questions. Of note is when Cadance asks Discord if he truly thinks a little farm work would kill him, he transforms into a grave with an epitaph describing his death by 'farmwork.'
* ShipperOnDeck: Cadance, as befitting the Princess of Love. She literally has a shipper sense, one so strong she could sense Discord nearly ruining his dating proposal when he was a country away. When she finds out Discord is trying to romance Applejack, she takes a vacation to mentor Discord on how to court her properly, and also is simultaneously evaluating her underlings' romantic potential.
* ShoutOut: Frequent.
** When Discord finally caves in to letting Cadance take an active mentorship role, [[ShoutOut he appears before her and announces she's his only hope]].
* SitcomArchNemesis: While actual nemeses in canon, Cadance and Chrysalis become this as well in story. Notably, they still fight each other in fantastic and deadly ways, but their attitudes and pettiness evoke this trope as well.
* StalkerWithACrush: Discord spends quite some time spying on Applejack initially. Eventually, she catches on and confronts him.
* TitleDrop; Not quite, but close:
--> '''Cadance''': Simply put, I’m saying this. Love has no reason, Love has no rhyme. [[RhymesOnADime Love will find you any old time]].
* UnequalPairing: Discord is a the PhysicalGod of Chaos, holding immense power and able to rewrite reality on a whim. Meanwhile, Applejack is essential just a regular Earth Pony farmer.
* WackyMarriageProposal: As practically wackiness incarnated, Discord presents a truly absurd proposal to Applejack while informing her of the God of Chaos' interest, Discord wearing a bridal gown being one of the tamer shenanigans. Since Discord hasn't even expressed any romantic interest in Applejack before, the proposal is shot down as quickly as it's launched.
