3Jane Wyman (born Sarah Jane Mayfield; January 5, 1917 – September 10, 2007) was an American actress and dancer whose career spanned seven decades.

5Wyman spent her early years in Hollywood as a supporting actress and bit player, before breaking out as a star in 1945 with ''The Lost Weekend''. She won the UsefulNotes/AcademyAward for Best Actress for her performance in ''Film/JohnnyBelinda'' (1948), and won the Golden Globe three times. She was also featured opposite Creator/RockHudson in the loose melodrama duology composed of ''Film/MagnificentObsession'' (1954) and ''Film/AllThatHeavenAllows'' (1955), both directed by Creator/DouglasSirk. She achieved continuing success in television playing the lead role of matriarch Angela Channing in the soap opera ''Falcon Crest'' (1981–1990).

7Outside of acting, she is known for being the first wife of UsefulNotes/RonaldReagan, a fellow actor who would go on to become the 40th [[UsefulNotes/ThePresidentsOfTheUnitedStates President of the United States]]. They married in 1940 and divorced in 1949.
