!!Tropes:
* BadassBystander: In 2016, a drunk driver crashed his car near Foxx's house, and was left trapped in his seat as the wreck caught fire. Jamie (and an off duty EMT) jumped to action to cut him out of his seat and pull him from the car, saving his life.
* CharacterTitle: He plays with these a lot. And by play, it means PlayingWithATrope. He also appeared in works where he's not the title character
** AntagonistTitle: ''Film/TheAmazingSpiderMan2'' was usually subtitled ''Rise of Electro'' .
** ProtagonistTitle: ''Film/{{Ray}}'', ''Redemption: The Stan Tookie Williams Story'' and ''Film/DjangoUnchained''. Played with in ''Series/TheJamieFoxxShow'' which bring us to...
** JustifiedTitle: ''Series/TheJamieFoxxShow'' is an TheEponymousShow than a straight out ProtagonistTitle. However, he plays the main lead and shares his character's first name anyway.
** SecondaryCharacterTitle: ''Film/TheSoloist'', where Creator/RobertDowneyJr is the lead.
* TheDanza: Jamie King in ''Series/TheJamieFoxxShow''.
* DoItYourselfThemeTune: His songs are often used in his films, especially around the TurnOfTheMillennium.
* DyeingForYourArt: To play Film/{{Ray}} Charles from 1949 to 1979, he dropped more than 30 pounds and wore prosthetics over his eyes so that he would actually be blind.
* GenreSavvy: The reason he changed his first name to Jamie is because it is a GenderBlenderName. In comedy clubs, female comics often perform before the male comics so when a club manager read his name on the list, he would often be moved up on the list of performers.
* HiddenDepths: He knows American Sign Language! Who knew?
* TheHost: Of the Creator/{{MTV}} Music Video Awards in 2001 and the game show ''Series/BeatShazam''.
* RoleReprise: Portrayed the ''ComicBook/SpiderMan'' villain Electro across two film continuities -- ''Film/TheAmazingSpiderManSeries'' and the Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse. [[spoiler: It's actually the same Electro, displaced across TheMultiverse.]]
* ShoutOut: His last name in his StageName comes from his favorite comedian Redd Foxx.
* StageName: His real name is Eric Marlon Bishop.
* StarMakingRole: The titular Film/{{Ray}} Charles.
* ThoseTwoActors: His constant co-stars are Creator/KerryWashington, Creator/GerardButler, Creator/RobertDowneyJr, Creator/JessicaBiel, Creator/AnneHathaway and Creator/JenniferGarner.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Auditioned for the Creator/CubaGoodingJr. role in ''Film/JerryMaguire''.
** Had the role of Slim in ''Film/TheWood'', but had to drop out when he got the role of Willie Beamen in ''Film/AnyGivenSunday''.
