[[folder:In General]]
* OppositesAttract: A non-romantic example for both Talon and Gwynn as well as Garret and Janzo.
** Talon and Gwynn are more or less complete opposites both in terms of their characterization and in their appeal of their gender. Talon's a [[BrokenBird cynic]] while Gwynn is more [[WideEyedIdealist hopeful and idealistic]]. Talon is more [[OneOfTheBoys tempermental]] while Gwynn is more [[YamatoNadeshiko level-headed]] and [[PrincessClassic tender]]. Gwynn has a [[BlueBlood noble upbringing]] while Talon has a peasant upbringing. Talon has a [[AmazonianBeauty more rugged and Amazonian]] kind of appeal while Gwynn has a more [[YamatoNadeshiko innocent and Nice Girl appeal]]. Talon is more [[ActionGirl action oriented]] and on the front lines while Gwynn is less action oriented and more behind the scenes.
** Garret and Janzo are both essentially everything the other one isn't. Janzo [[TheSmartGuy has brains]] while Garret [[BigGuy has brawn]]. Garret is strong and action oriented while Janzo is [[NonActionGuy weak and more behind the scenes]]. Garret has a traditionally masculine appeal to him while Janzo has a cute and nerdy NiceGuy appeal to him. Garret is more [[IdealHero noble and heroic]] while Janzo is more [[DeadpanSnarker quirky and snarky]]. Garret is popular with the ladies while Janzo is less successful in that regard.
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: All of them have their quirks and flaws, but at least one of them is generally able to get the job done.

!!Talon
->Played by: Creator/JessicaGreen, Bella Padden (child)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/talon3.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:250:'''Talon:''' ''"I've always been stronger than I appear, faster than I seem. And somehow I can anticipate my opponent's next move."'']]
----
* ActionGirl: She's a superb fighter, with swords, knives and her bare hands.
* AlienBlood: Talon's blood is as black as ink. In fact her people are known as 'Blackbloods'.
* AllAmazonsWantHercules: Strong, fighting men like Garret or Zed seem to turn her on, but not so much for the nerdy Janzo who she places in the dreaded friend zone.
* AloofDarkHairedGirl: She fits this perfectly, with long dark brown hair, pale skin, a large bust and a somewhat cynical, taciturn attitude which helps make her look older. At first she's quite reserved and distant to others, although she [[DefrostingIceQueen loosens up over time]], making very good friends of people [[FireForgedFriends who stand with her facing great dangers]]. She still is cold and hard at times though, which isn't too surprising given her very harsh life.
* AntiHero: While she does brighten up after a while, Talon's still far from a typical IdealHero starting out when she's cynical, hard-edged and fairly ruthless in seeking revenge for her family being murdered.
* BadassInDistress: Talon, on several occasions, is taken prisoner by Marshal Withers, the Greyskins, or the Prime Order, and has to fight her way free.
* BathtubScene: Talon has one in "The Mistress and the Worm", when Gwynn invites her to dinner at her house and insists she clean up beforehand.
* BettyAndVeronica: The Veronica to Gwynn's Betty and Garret's Archie.
* BloodFromTheMouth: While being held captive by the Gods, they rough her up a few times, some of which have her spitting out blood from her mouth.
* BraidsOfAction: Kind of, by season 2 and even before hand, she had always worn her hair in braids, just not in a traditional style typical of Action Girls.
* BrokenBird: She initially starts off as one, as a tough female fighter with a traumatic past who puts up a hard exterior, but slightly mellows out over time.
* ButForMeItWasTuesday: When Talon confronts Toru Magmoor, he sighs in a bored tone that "it sounds like vengeance, then." As he faces her, he just shrugs to ask "so who was it?" indicating he's more than used to people seeking revenge for those he's murdered.
%%* CoolBigSis: Flashbacks show that Talon had a brother named Eremus. She also starts to starts to develop this type of relationship with Janzo over time.
* ConvenientlyAnOrphan: Talon's mother, brother and everyone else who lived in their village were murdered, while her father was absent for some reason, so she's left free to go on adventures.
* CynicismCatalyst: The massacre of her village in which her family was murdered set Talon on the path to being a cynical and ruthless {{anti hero}}.
* DaddyHadAGoodReasonForAbandoningYou: While speaking with her father, he tells her that the reason he abandoned them was because he "accidentally" took the black kinj from someone else, which quite literally made anything he touched die.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Her family and entire village were slaughtered. Then her adopted family was murdered too.
* DeadGuyJunior: She was apparently named after her grandmother and ancestor, both of whom were named Tallya, or Tallyan-Indrin or something like that, which is explained by Aster. Talon apparently comes from Tallyan.
* DefrostingIceQueen: She starts out quite cold, cynical, and rough around the edges, until befriending Garret, Gwynn, and Janzo, mellows her out a bit.
* {{Demihuman}}: Blackbloods look visually indistinguishable from humans except for having pointed ears with black tips and, well, [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin black blood]].
* DoomedHometown: The Blackblood village Talon was born in was completely destroyed.
* TheDrifter: She's spent most of her life since the massacre on the move.
* DrowningMySorrows: After Queen Rosmund's memorial, she can later be seen drinking and gambling to the point that she later stumbles back to her house clearly intoxicated.
* EnemyMine: Talon and Gwynn were never enemies, but they did team up and become allies over their shared desire to kill the Bones. Gwynn wants them to be friends, but Talon doesn't necessarily share her enthusiasm.
* ExplainExplainOhCrap: Talon, Garrett and Janzo are on a mission to find a book in a cavern that's been burned. Garrett muses on how "if they can go to that much trouble to burn a book, surely, he'd go through just as much trouble" to kill Talon. Talon asks [[spoiler:"what, send an army?" Instantly, all three get looks of horror as they realize the Outpost is in serious danger.]]
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: In the first season, Talon always had her hair cover her ears, obviously because the Prime Order are looking for her and she doesn't want anyone to find out she's a blackblood. By the second season, her little secret isn't much of a secret anymore and so she has no problem wearing her hair in a way that shows her ears.
* FemininityFailure: Gwynn tried to bring out Talon's girly side by burning her clothes and putting her in a dress. Needless to say, that would be the last time she would wear one [[spoiler:until marrying Garret in the finale]].
* GenocideSurvivor: Talon's entire village, along with her mother and little brother, were killed by human mercenaries as a result of [[FantasticRacism anti-Blackblood bigotry]], with her the SoleSurvivor and initially believed to also be the LastOfHerKind. Her adoptive parents were then murdered too, by a ''Blackblood'' bigot. She is naturally bitter and jaded as a result for a long time after this.
* GoodParents: From what little's shown, Talon's birth mother was a kind, devoted parent.
* GodzillaThreshold: With a Prime Order army about to overrun the outpost, Talon [[spoiler:opens up a portal and allows the other Blackbloods and the Lu'quiri to cross over so they can aid in the fight. They win but it immediately backfires on Talon.]]
* HairContrastDuo: She represents the dark-haired girl, or the "bad" one: moody, testy, serious, cynical, often relishes in {{Angst}} and her DarkAndTroubledPast, tends to break the rules and snap. Contrasting with Gwynn.
* HappilyAdopted: Talon, after losing her birth parents, found kind human ones who took her in.
* HatesWearingDresses: Talon is only persuaded to wear one once, and then never again ([[FemininityFailure it didn't work for her]]) [[spoiler:until her and Garret's wedding later]].
* HealingFactor: As a Blackblood, Talon is able to survive multiple stab wounds to the stomach and a few days later the wounds have healed.
* HideYourOtherness: As a child, Talon cut off the tips of her pointy ears in order to blend in with human society after her village's massacre.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: Talon gets run through by Toru Magmoor with a sword and the Lu'quiri with its claw, though she's tougher than ordinary mortals and manages to kill Magmoor the same way in return.
* InnocentBlueEyes: As a child she had them.
* InterspeciesRomance: Talon is a Blackblood, who is in love with Garret who is human.
* ItsAllMyFault: Talon blames herself for the slaughter of her people in the Plane of Ashes by the Blackfists because she didn't allow Zed to open a portal earlier to let the rest of the Blackbloods through before more of them were killed. Garret responds to this with the typical "It's not your fault" response.
* JustFriends: With Janzo. After Janzo was pretty obvious about his crush on Talon and jealousy towards Garret throughout the first season (and Talon was well aware of it), there's a scene with a rather cruel misunderstanding in the last episode that serves as definite ShipSinking, with Talon telling Janzo that he's a better man than Garret but that she "loves him like a brother". To his credit, Janzo takes this rejection remarkably gracefully - especially considering he was already stressed and crying with severe pain at the time, and that Talon had just [[spoiler:kissed him, to momentarily distract him from said pain.]]
* KillSteal: When she mentions to Luna that she killed Rebb, her sister's killer, Luna get's a bit mad because she wanted to kill her. Talon quite correctly points out that she didn't even know who she was at the time.
* LastOfHisKind: Talon is the only survivor of her village, and is believed to be the only Blackblood left alive. Subverted by Season 2, which reveals that there are other Blackbloods living in the Plane of Ash with the Lu'quiri.
* TheLeader: Since she's the protagonist of the series, she gets to serve as this to the 4 main characters.
* LightFeminineAndDarkFeminine: Talon represents the slightly colder, darker, tomboyish, and Amazonian kind of appeal contrasting to Gwynn's more light, pure, and girly kind of femininity that's basically useless in a fight.
* LikeFatherLikeSon: Yavalla mentions that like her, her father was also headstrong, brave, cold, and a bit of a loner since he chose to live separately from the rest of the Blackbloods.
* LoveTriangle: She has one with Gwynn over Garret. It's not a traditional one in that all three of them are on good terms with each other and is not really a source of conflict in the show.
* OnlyOneName: Something that seems to be fairly common among Blackbloods, she doesn't appear to have a surname and is simply known as "Talon".
* OurElvesAreDifferent: The Blackbloods have the requisite pointy ears, have black blood, are stronger than humans and can survive injuries that would kill a regular person.
* ParentalAbandonment: Talon's father's absence is unexplained [[spoiler:at first]]. Her mother was murdered. [[TraumaCongaLine As if that weren't enough]], she's adopted by a human family, and they are slaughtered by Varek (a Blackblood who hates humans). The girl just can't catch a break.
* PerpetualFrowner: Instances of her smiling are fairly few and far between.
* ProperlyParanoid: She's initially quite careful choosing her friends considering that the Prime Order wants her dead.
* RavenHairIvorySkin: She has these looks, fittingly for an AloofDarkHairedGirl.
* {{Revenge}}: Talon wants to avenge her family and people by killing those who wiped them out. After learning that Toru Magmoor was a mercenary involved, she kills him, and escapes the punishment due to Gwynn's intervention. Then later she also kills another mercenary who helped, Tiberion Shek. On defeating Dred, who is with the Prime Order which started the genocide, she tries to kill him too before Gwynn stops it.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Talon has made it her life’s purpose to hunt down and kill the men who slaughtered her family.
* SexyDiscretionShot: Used in "There Will Be a Reckoning", when Talon and Zed sleep together. They both kiss and start to take off their clothes, when the camera cuts away to them cuddling together on the morning after.
* SheCleansUpNicely: [[spoiler:In the finale, Talon marries Garret wearing a dress and with her hair in a wavy style. Though she's hardly unnatractive, they make her look especially lovely.]]
* ShouldersUpNudity: In "The Mistress and the Worm", when Talon takes off her filthy clothes to take a bath, the camera stays above her shoulders.
* SoleSurvivor: After the massacre of her people, Talon is the last living Blackblood. Subverted when Season 2 reveals that there are more imprisoned alongside the Lu'quiri.
* StatuesqueStunner: A stunning beauty played by an actress who's 5' 9".
* StrongGirlSmartGuy: The strong girl to Janzo's smart guy.
* SummonMagic: This turns out to be the power Talon has (and Blackbloods generally). She's able to invoke and banish the Lu'quiri (most people call them demons), although it's difficult to master (the latter especially) and they must obey her when she speaks in her language.
* SympatheticMurderer: He may have [[AssholeVictim amply deserved this]], but Talon killing Toru Magmoor was murder. The show still portrays her as being in the right, with Withers being wrong for trying to get her executed (granted, he doesn't give her [[KangarooCourt anything like a fair trial]]).
* [[ThisIsUnforgivable This Is Unforgivable!]]/[[RevengeBeforeReason Revenge Before Reason]]: For the "crime" of using his newfound MindControl powers to save her from a grey skin, Talon (over)reacts by telling Zed how he "betrayed" her. A duel ensues which ends with him being pushed through a portal back to the Plane of Ash, supposedly [[PutOnABus never to be seen again]]. Of course, it didn't help that Zed had lied about knowing what his Kinj power was. Or that his first reaction to Talon's anger was to try and ''mind control her into calming down''.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: She's the Tomboy to Gwynn's Girly Girl, wearing masculine clothing and having trained to fight.
* TookALevelInKindness: Talon started off as a cold, cynical, loner-type of AntiHero who only really cares about herself, until she makes a few friends, in which she brightens up over time, becomes more willing to help other people, and ends up [[spoiler:being chosen as leader of the outpost]].
* ToplessnessFromTheBack: Used when Talon takes off her shirt to sleep with Zed. He even brushes her hair away, seemingly to [[MaleGaze give the viewer a better view]].
* TraumaCongaLine: Poor Talon. As a young girl, her father disappeared, but at least she had a loving mother and brother. Then they were murdered, along with her entire village. However, she's then adopted by a kind human family.... until they were all murdered too. Then her mentor Wolf is also murdered. [[spoiler:Years later, it turns out that her father is alive, but she's only briefly able to see him before he dies too]]. No wonder she's aloof, cynical and leery of making connections at first.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: She can be underestimated due to her gender and appearance, [[FemmeFatale and she's not afraid of exploiting that fact]].
* VengeanceFeelsEmpty: Talon eventually admits that killing everyone responsible for her family's deaths didn't make her feel any better.
* WhatBeautifulEyes: Talon has striking blue eyes, which is commented on in the series. In fact, Wolf says it's part of the reason he stopped himself from killing her.
* WhenSheSmiles: Talon doesn't smile very often, but when she does, it makes her look even more beautiful.
* YouAreInCommandNow: At the end of season 3, following [[spoiler: Gwynn's death, Talon is chosen as the new leader of the Outpost.]]
* YouRemindMeOfX: While talking with Aster about releasing the Kahvi, despite Aster saying that they shouldn't, Talon tells him that she's not doing any plan that doesn't involve saving the Kahvi. Aster then tells her that she reminds him of someone who died 1,000 years before she was born.

[[caption-width-right:250:'''Garret:''' ''"I have to go. It’s time that their weapon was turned against them."'']]
----
* ArmorIsUseless: [[spoiler: He's run through from behind while wearing a full suit of plate armor.]]
* BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler:He gets resurrected by the Three, after he's accidentally killed by negative conditioning that went overboard (i.e. he was beaten to death).]]
* BadassInDistress: He faces imprisonment on several occasions and remains [[DefiantCaptive defiant]] every time.
* BefriendingTheEnemy: [[spoiler:When he gets manipulated by Sana into doing her bidding.]]
* BettyAndVeronica: The Archie to Talon's Veronica and Gwynn's Betty.
* BigDamnHeroes: Just as Dred is about to have all the heroes hanged, the rebel army that Calkussar and Garrett spent all season building come charging through the gates to the rescue.
* TheBigGuy: Him and Talon do most of the fighting and heavy lifting of the 4 main characters.
* BloodFromTheMouth: Happens to him when he's getting the shit beat out of him by the Tormentor.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: In season 2, Garret [[spoiler:is subjected to a combination of torture, a "[[FlorenceNightingaleEffect kindly nurse]]" seducing him and trickery to be convinced Rosmund is not the true Queen, Talon is a monster and he has to destroy them both for the Prime Order. He even stabs Withers to prove his new loyalty.]]
* CavalryOfficer: The dashing Captain of the Border Guard who makes his debut coming to Talon's rescue.
* ConvenientlyCellmates: Not cellmates but more accurately ''inmates'' with Dred at one point.
* DisneyDeath: [[spoiler:He's seemingly killed by Dred in the Season 2 premiere, but it's revealed two episodes later that while the wound he received was serious, he was taken to healing fast enough to be saved.]]
* DressingAsTheEnemy: He disguises himself as a Prime Order soldier to sneak in and break Luna out of jail because she was going to be executed the next morning.
* FaceHeelTurn: [[spoiler:Thanks to the FlorenceNightingaleEffect and other means, he's turned (temporarily) evil.]]
* FlorenceNightingaleEffect: Garret develops feelings for Sana, a Prime Order nurse who tends to him. [[spoiler:But he doesn't realize she's also a HoneyTrap and has deliberately set up the situation to seduce him.]]
* HatesTheirParent: Garret has an enduringly strained relationship with his father, Marshal Wythers.
* InterruptedSuicide: [[spoiler:After breaking his conditioning by the Prime Order, he was overridden with guilt that even led to him becoming suicidal for a brief moment before Gwynn stopped him.]]
* InterspeciesRomance: Garret is in love with Talon who is a Blackblood, while he is human.
* LaResistance: Since before the start of the series, Calkussar and Garret have been building an army to rise up against the Prime Order and retake control of the kingdom. They finally go into action in the season finale.
* LoveTriangle: Has one with Talon and Gwynn. It's not a traditional one in that all three of them are on good terms with each other and is not really a source of conflict in the show.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:Just as he's about to kill Gwynn, Garret (off the drug that had been affecting his mind) realizes how the entire "false queen" story was a trick by the Prime Order to use him against his love. He nearly turns his blade on himself before Gwynn stops him. He also says the line verbatim upon realizing he stabbed Withers.]]
* ParentalAbandonment: Garret's mother was murdered, and [[spoiler:he later kills his own father while {{brainwashed}} as a test of loyalty]].
* {{Patricide}}: [[spoiler:He stabs his father, Withers, to prove his new loyalty.]]
* ReformedButNotTamed: Even after breaking his conditioning he was still angrier than usual and more on edge then he was before. He is more jealous and reckless, though this could be due to him no longer have responsibilities at Gallwood.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Garret goes on one in the back half of Season 2 against the Prime Order agents who brainwashed him.
* ShirtlessScene: He conveniently [[{{Fanservice}} loses his shirt]] while sparring with Talon.
* ThreatBackfire:
** Upon being captured, [[spoiler:a brainwashed Garret thinks he can intimidate Gwynn with how the Prime Order knows she's not the true Queen and undermine her. Of course, the threat is meaningless as the entire "Gwynn a false queen truth" was faked by the Prime Order to break Garret.]]
** [[spoiler:Garret tries to sway Janzo to his side by telling him how Gwynn is a false queen and the Prime Order will lock Janzo up for aiding her. Janzo clearly sees Garrett is not in his right mind and by this point, barely cares about any threats on his life with all he's been through.]]
* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks: He does this to kill a Prime Order soldier pursuing Gwynn.
* VengeanceFeelsEmpty: Garret says the same thing after getting his own revenge.
* YouAreInCommandNow: Before leaving to rescue Talon, Tobin gives command of the outpost over to Garret.
* YouRemindMeOfX: Sana mentions to Garret that he reminds her of her [[TheLostLenore dead husband]]. [[spoiler:Subverted, since it's actually just total nonsense she made up to manipulate him.]]
* ZombieInfectee: [[spoiler:In episode 7, he gets bitten by a plagueling and he tries to hide it by locking himself in Janzo's lab and chaining himself to a post.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lady Gwynn Calkussar]]
!!Gwynn Calkussar

[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s1_gwynn_poster2.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:250:'''Gwynn:''' ''"It's just me and you against the world. It's always been that way since you walked through the door."'']]
----
* ArbitrarySkepticism: Invoked when Naya tries to warn Gwynn the Prime Order have what are basically explosive bombs. She doesn't believe it but Janzo argues she's telling the truth.
-->'''Gwynn''': It's more like a fairy tale conjured up to frighten children.\
'''Janzo''': What, like Plaguelings? Or demons? Or a portal that opens up to new worlds?\
'''Gwynn''': Point taken.
* BathtubScene: Gwynn herself has one in the Season 2 premiere while discussing strategy with Naya.
* BettyAndVeronica: The Betty to Talon's Veronica and Garret's Archie.
* BlueBlood: [[spoiler:Until it's discovered she's actually royalty.]]
* BluffTheImposter: Invoked when Gwynn's long-thought dead brother Alton arrives at the Outpost, claiming to have been hidden in secret like Gwynn was. Over lunch, Gwynn brings up a tale of a cat they used to tease with Alton correcting her it was a dog with a different name. He also is able to bring up other things they did as children to convince Gwynn of who he is. [[spoiler:Turns out he is actually the royal maid's son and was thus witness to all those events. The real Alton is dead.]]
* BodyguardCrush: Garret was recruited by her [[spoiler:adoptive]] father to be her bodyguard. He later falls hard for her.
* ConvenientlyAnOrphan: Gwynn's [[spoiler:foster]] father is killed, right as she takes up her role as a hero too.
* CoolCrown: As shown in the season 2 premier.
* DisappointedByTheMotive: Gwynn assumes [[spoiler:Sammy was posing as Alton as some sort of revenge for how he was the one punished for Alton's actions and how he lived with nothing so becoming king was payback. She's outraged to realize this was about him conning her out of some gold for a fake mission.]]
* DrowningMySorrows: After Garret is [[spoiler:reportedly]] killed, Gwynn starts to drink and gamble frequently while not occupied with her duties.
* FeminineWomenCanCook: {{Averted}}. Although very feminine, she's actually a terrible cook. This isn't that surprising-as a noblewoman, she didn't have to learn.
* HairContrastDuo: She represents the fair-haired girl, or the "good" one: bright, hopeful, enthusiastic, naive, helpful, innocent, tends to follow the rules. Contrasting with Talon.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: She starts to resemble this [[spoiler:upon her growing into her TheHighQueen archetype.]]
* HappilyAdopted: [[spoiler:After he reveals her true parentage, Calkussar tells Gwynn that she probably shouldn't call him her father anymore. However, she replies that he raised, protected and sacrificed everything for her, so he's her father and will always be, which clearly touches Calkussar.]]
* TheHeart: It goes with her being the pseudo-Team Mom.
* [[spoiler: HeroicSacrifice: She takes the Black Kinj upon herself, destroying Yavalla at the cost of her own life.]]
* HiddenBackupPrince: [[spoiler:She is the rightful queen, who'd been kept hidden by a lord who switched her with his own daughter (she was beheaded).]]
* TheHighQueen: [[spoiler:She grows into this when she's shown to be the late king's heir. She's regal, calm and lovely, though still struggling at times with the weight of her new responsibilities.]]
* ImpededCommunication: Gwynn's attempts to summon aid against an advancing army are marred as the enemy archers expertly cut down every one of the carrier birds.
* ImportantHaircut: In the season 1 finale, she cuts her hair short. She grows it back however.
* InnocentBlueEyes: She has her actress to thank for this.
* KneelBeforeFrodo: [[spoiler:Upon TheReveal of her being the rightful heir to the throne, everyone kneels.]]
* LightFeminineAndDarkFeminine: Talon represents the slightly colder, darker, tomboyish, and Amazonian kind of appeal contrasting to Gwynn's more light, pure, and girly kind of femininity that's basically useless in a fight.
* LoveTriangle: Has one with Talon over Garret. It's not a traditional one in that all three of them are on good terms with each other and is not really a source of conflict in the show.
* MistakenForGay: A conversation between Elinor and Gertrusha sees Gertrusha questioning Gwynn's sexuality when she asks why "she is paying more attention to her personal handmaiden than to the handsome Baron who wants to marry her".
* OjouRinglets: Her hairstyle of choice.
* ParentalAbandonment: [[spoiler:Gwynn's birth parents (i.e. the king and queen) were killed in her childhood by the Prime Order, who overthrew her father. Her adopted father is later murdered too.]]
* PrincessClassic: [[spoiler:She's a royal who's regal, calm, and has a [[HairOfGoldHeartOfGold heart of gold]].]]
* ProperlyParanoid: Gwynn reveals that [[spoiler:as much as she wanted to believe Alton was alive, she had to doubt in his story until she could prove he was an impostor.]]
* ReallyRoyaltyReveal: [[spoiler:She's actually the rightful heir to the throne.]]
* RichInDollarsPoorInSense: One would think that how wealthy her family is that someone would teach her how to cook. Instead, she turns out to be a terrible cook.
* RoyalBlood: [[spoiler:It turns out she's a princess.]]
* RunawayBride: After agreeing to marry Tobin, Gwynn left him at the altar.
* ShipperOnDeck: Gwynn at certain points, tries to subtly push Talon in Janzo's direction until she quite bluntly tells her handmaiden, Naya, to make Janzo more "manly" to attract Talon so she "won't be alone". It fails quite spectacularly with Janzo only making a fool of himself before Talon has to slap him with a BeYourself {{Aesop}} to put a stop to Gwynn's matchmaking.
* SkilledButNaive: She lacks the political skills to rule successfully over the realm.
* TeamMom: If you count the Talon, Garret, Gwynn, Janzo quartet as a team then yes, she absolutely is this.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: She's the Girly Girl to Talon's Tomboy, a {{proper lady}} who's in a dress habitually and has traditional female manners. Though not a fighter, Gwynn is also a strong woman in her way and becomes less girly in time, putting on armor and wielding a sword by the end of season one.
* WalkingSpoiler: The fact that she's [[spoiler:actually Princess Rosmund, the heir to the old kingdom's throne, is revealed early on]].

[[caption-width-right:250:'''Janzo:''' ''"What good is killing someone? How will they ever make amends? I’m sorry, but I would do it all over again if I had the chance."'']]
----
* AbusiveParents: His adoptive mother pushes him into situations that he doesn't want to be involved in - such as the colipsum trade.
* ActualPacifist: He hates conflict and tries his hardest to avoid violence or arguments.
* AmbiguouslyAbsentParent: His father is left unmentioned in the show.
* BeYourself: Talon gives him one of these after Gwynn tells Naya to try and make him more "manly" to attract Talon. It obviously didn't work out too well.
* BirdsOfAFeather: Both him and Wren are quite similar to each other in that they serve as more of the brains of the main cast.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Janzo is highly eccentric, to put it mildly. He's often bent over, dislikes meeting people's eyes, and very socially awkward. At the same time, he's brilliant with chemicals, so his foster mother puts him to work brewing alcohol. Then, it's shown his knowledge and skill is also useful for ''far'' more applications, which renders him essential to the good guys.
* BystanderSyndrome: He doesn't intervene in situations or circumstances that don't require his attention.
* CelibateEccentricGenius: Janzo is a brilliant scientist, while also being ''very'' socially awkward, to the point that he'd never kissed a woman when the series starts, let alone ever had sex. Then, after he gets in a relationship with Naya, [[spoiler:it's revealed she's his ''sister'']] (luckily before they'd done anything ''more'' than kiss). However, he finally loses his virginity with Wren in Season 3. They're a couple after that [[spoiler:and Janzo even gets her pregnant]].
* CuteBookworm: So much so that he taught himself how to brew by reading books.
* DeadpanSnarker: He has a sharp tongue and sassy attitude that easily tires of situations.
* DidYouActuallyBelieve: Said verbatim by Janzo when [[spoiler:Naya reveals herself as TheMole to save her captive family. He openly asks if she actually thought the Prime Order was ever going to let them go when they can use them to keep Naya's loyalty and even suggests they're already dead.]]
* EndearinglyDorky: Despite being awkward, Janzo is found attractive by Naya and later Wren.
* FaintInShock: After discovering [[spoiler:Wren is pregnant and that he's going to be a father]], the first thing he does is faint. Presumably out of shock.
* FirstFriend: To Talon. Before him, she mostly worked alone.
* ForScience: He's quite keen on studying 313 and wanting to learn about him, presumably to see if he knows something that could help them, but also to satisfy his own scientific curiosity.
* ForcefulKiss: Janzo tries to do this with Talon, on Naya's advice. She throws him to the ground. Gwynn points out to her this is a bad idea, and likely would get Janzo's arm broken or worse if he keeps it up.
* GrewASpine: Janzo starts the series as an ExtremeDoormat, but by the end of the first season isn't afraid to stand up to anyone.
* HollywoodAtheist: Averted. While he is mentioned as not believing in the gods, this comes after he kindly offers to pray with Naya over her [[spoiler:mother and sister dying]]. This fits with his generally kind, caring nature. Further, he's a great hero in his right, having [[spoiler:found the cure for a deadly disease.]]
%%* InnocentlyInsensitive
* IWarnedYou: When 313 tries to open the pod carrying his son in it, Janzo tries to warn him that doing so will kill him. 313 doesn't heed his warning, and despite Janzo's best efforts, his son dies.
* InterspeciesRomance: He's a human who's in love with Wren, a Blackblood.
* JustFriends: With Talon.
* KissingCousins: [[spoiler:When he starts dating Naya, not knowing that she's his twin sister.]]
* LongLostRelative: [[spoiler:Naya, who it turns out is his sister.]]
* LoveAtFirstSight: Janzo tells Talon he's loved her since the moment he saw her.
* NerdGlasses: He doesn't always wear them though.
* NoSocialSkills: Janzo is quite socially awkward, having a great reluctance to meet people's eyes at first, standing hunched over, and has little knowledge of how to interact with people, let alone romantically approach them. Naya in Season 2 tries to help him get more adept.
* NonActionGuy: He's the brains to Talon's brawn. Later on he gets his chances to prove himself useful in combat, but more with his intelligence and wit than mere brute strength.
* {{Omniglot}}: He can read and write in 12 different languages while speaking 3.
%%* OpenMouthInsertFoot
* ParentalAbandonment: Not counting his adoptive mother. Janzo's mother died giving birth and his father is never really mentioned.
* PrimalStance: Janzo is quite often seen hunching over when he's standing.
* ScienceHero: Janzo is revealed to have a brilliant mind and extensive scientific knowledge. He puts them to good use aiding the good guys, including [[spoiler:curing the plagueling disease]].
* TheSmartGuy: Quite obviously.
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: Much like most Smart Guys, he wears glasses. He doesn't always wear them though.
* StrongGirlSmartGuy: The Smart Guy to Talon's Strong Girl.
* SurpriseIncest: [[spoiler:Janzo is horrified to discover that his love interest who he just finished making out with is actually his long lost twin sister. Naya doesn't take it much better.]]
* TokenMinority: He's one in the four main characters of color on the show.
* UnexpectedVirgin: Garret expresses surprise when Janzo says he's never been with a woman (though given his social awkwardness, it isn't too odd).

* BlackmailBackfire: Wythers tries to hold up how he has letters proving [[spoiler:Rosmund's true identity that will go to the Prime Order "in the event of my untimely death." Rosmund simply states that he'll still be alive...and working in the lowest levels of the mines.]]
* ByTheBookCop: Starts out as one before mellowing out a bit.
* DefiantToTheEnd: Even when on the verge of being hanged by the Prime Order, Wythers can't help but mock Higgs' incompetence.
* EveryoneHasStandards: Marshal Wythers would love nothing more than for Talon to be executed but he refuses to hand her over to the Prime Order. He even suggests that him executing her would be the more merciful option.

* JerkassHasAPoint: Marshal Withers may be an asshole, but as Commander Calkussar is forced to admit, Talon is actually guilty of murdering Toru Magmoor and executing her ''will'' avoid a level of scrutiny from the Prime Order that nobody in town wants. [[spoiler:And in the end, it does lead to the Prime Order coming to the outpost in force.]]

* ToughLove: Wythers tried to do this with his older son. After he was caught committing theft, Wythers sent him down to the mines as punishment, which was just to be a few days. However, it went wrong as the other prisoners Withers sent there recognized his son, beating him to death.

* DyingClue: [[spoiler:As she lies dying, she tells Janzo about the tunnels running under the outpost and the surrounding area, which gives him the idea for the plan that defeats the Prime Order's army.]]
* EverythingsSparklyWithJewelry: She wears a lot of jewelry.
* {{Greed}}: She's willing to let people die from colipsum if it means she can make more money from selling it.
* HopeSpot: In "The Vex Rezicon", [[spoiler:Wythers and the Mistress lead an uprising against the Prime Order's occupation force... and are promptly ambushed and slaughtered, due to Dred's mole tipping him off.]]
* LovesOnlyGold: Despite knowing that colipsum kills people, she still wants to create it so she can sell it.
* MamaBear: Despite being rather poor as a mother to Janzo, when she sees him threatened by a soldier of the Prime Order, she throws herself on the man, stabbing him with her knife. [[spoiler:She's stabbed and killed herself from doing so.]]
* MockMillionaire: Despite her mannerisms and the amount of jewelry she wears, she's just a bartender.
* MoneyFetish: Basically the entire reason she's in the colipsum trade, despite being aware of what it does to people.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: She's usually called "The Mistress" and her real name isn't revealed until the second season when her sister appears.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: [[spoiler:The Mistress does the right thing for once, coming to Janzo's defense during Season 2's climatic battle, and gets fatally stabbed for it. 280----
* TheAlcoholic: He seems to spend a lot of his time at Elinor's tavern getting himself drunk.
* AmbiguouslyAbsentParent: Tobin's mother also isn't mentioned.
* ArmorIsUseless: A giant blunt staff that isn't even sharp seems to impale him in armor quite easily.
* [[spoiler: BackFromTheDead: He's resurrected by Falista and the Two in the season 4 premiere]].
* BlueBlood: He's the son of a nobleman.
* CasanovaWannabe: His attempts to woo Gwynn are largely unsuccessful. His attempts at Talon, even more so.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Tobin at first appears to be an incompetent buffoon, but when sober he reveals himself to be a combatant nearly as skilled as Talon or Garrett.
* CurbStompBattle: On the receiving end of one with Rebb's Lu'quiri, likely due to the fact that he's drunk. The fight lasts all of 10 seconds and ends with him being [[DestinationDefenestration sent back the way he came in]].
* DestinationDefenestration: In season 2 episode 4, when "trying" to save the queen, his very brief battle with Rebb's Lu'quiri sees him out [[BigEntrance the way he came in]]...through a window. He survives, [[MadeOfIron somehow]].
* EpicFail: When Gwynn is held captive, Tobin decides to impress her with a rescue. The fact he's incredibly drunk is just the start as in less than a minute, he's sent flying out a window to the courtyard.
* HisOwnWorstEnemy: Gwynn angrily points out to him that he's quite self-destructive.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: He accompanies Falista to meet the Gods and give them his kinj largely because he just wants a normal life with his wife.

* ParentalAbandonment: His father is dead and his mother simply never gets mentioned.
* PrettyInMink: He often times wears a fur coat.
* ReducedToDust: [[spoiler:How he dies, the second time.]]
* {{Teleportation}}: [[spoiler:After killing Three and getting his kinj, he's now also able to teleport.]]
* TokenMinority: He's one in the four main characters of color on the show.
* WackyMarriageProposal: He offers his allegiances against the Prime Order if Gwynn accepts his marriage proposal. Gwynn obviously didn't agree to his terms. Particularly when he outright stated that he wasn't interested in love, but only creating a legacy and a generation of kings for the future.
* WouldntHitAGirl: Tobin refuses at first when Talon challenges him to a fight, as she's a woman. Once she starts hitting him though, he swings at her, but misses every time since he's fairly drunk.

* TheChosenOne: The Smith has spend many years studying [[TheProphecy an ancient prophecy]] and he is convinced that as the last Blackblood, Talon is the one who will fulfill it.

* AnOfferYouCantRefuse: Dred hires him and the Bones to track down and kill the last Blackblood Magmoor mentioned in his final message. When Shek tries to extort more gold for the job, Dred retorts that Shek will do the job at his regular cost or he'll have Shek and his men tortured to death for failing to do the job properly the first time.[[KnowWhenToFoldEm Shek wisely takes the hint]].
* OhCrap: His reaction to being confronted by an angry Lu'quiri and when Talon [[spoiler: slices his guts open]].
* PrivateMilitaryContractors: He's the leader of a mercenary group called The Bones.
* TheSocialDarwinist: He claims the only thing that exists is strength and weakness, listing himself as among the strong (implying it gives them the right to do whatever they wish with other people).

* HiredGuns: She's pretty much a mercenary hired by Dred.
* HulkSpeak: Not as extreme as other examples, but she does speak with very little eloquence and rarely in complete sentences.
* SavagePiercings: She has a nose ring.
* ScaryTeeth: Her teeth are filed down to sharp points, which she uses to tear apart and feed on her food, sometimes during combat.
* TokenMinority: She's a young Black woman.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: After she seemingly killed [[spoiler: Garret]] in the Season 2 premiere, she is never seen again throughout the rest of the season.

----
* AssholeVictim: Toru Magmoor was such an evil piece of work that most people in the outpost who knew him are happy when Talon kills him.
* TheCanKickedHim: A close variant: Toru Magmoor is peeing in an alley when Talon catches up with him, and coolly asks her to at least wait until he's finished before trying to kill him (rightly suspecting [[ButForMeItWasTuesday she's trying to avenge one of the very many people he's killed]]).
* CouldntFindAPen: After Talon mortally wounds Toru Magmoor, he spends his last moments using his own blood to spell out a message to the Prime Order revealing that there's still one Blackblood left.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: Talon gets run through by Toru Magmoor with a sword and the Lu'quiri with its claw, though she's tougher than ordinary mortals and manages to kill Magmoor the same way in return.

!!Prime Order
[[folder:In General]]
* AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs: The Season 2 finale sees a huge Prime Order army laying siege to the outpost.
* CrystalDragonJesus: The Prime Order has many similarities to Christianity in what's seen of their religion. First of all, the Three (a trio of people-two male, one female) are believed to be holy, and wear robes very similar to the ones Catholic bishops have, along with miters. They have many powers, including an ability to raise the dead. Not only that, but they even appear to have a cross symbol (although it may just be the design of the window slits in one room). Given they are villains, the darker side is also present-they conduct purges of Blackbloods (whom they believe to be inherently evil) plus people who know a language they use, since it might cast doubt on their teaching. Also, the sect appears to have Inquisition-like members, plus having strict bans on drinking, gambling or extramarital sex, as some conservative Christians have enforced.
* FacelessGoons: Prime Order soldiers wear helmets with their visors habitually down (it allows impersonation by their enemies of course).
* TheFundamentalist: The Prime Order are violent religious fanatics who have set up a [[TheTheocracy theocracy]] which forbids alcohol, extramarital sex and gambling with very harsh punishments. Additionally, they have committed genocide against the Blackbloods, believing them to be evil. Other ethnic groups are also mentioned as being purged, likely due to similar beliefs they hold.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: In the Season 2 finale, the Prime Order army besieging the outpost is defeated when [[spoiler:Garrett causes their huge bomb to go off prematurely, killing them all and sparing the defenders]].
* {{Hypocrite}}: A lot of the Prime Order's officials don't abide by their rules. Dred has no tolerance for this, ordering one he catches in bed with a woman to hang (alongside her) as they aren't married.
* LegionOfDoom: The Prime Order wants to kill Talon specifically because she's a Blackblood. Because TheProphecy!!!
* StraightEdgeEvil: The Prime Order forbids alcohol, drug use, extramarital sex and gambling. While some members break the rules or are lax in enforcing this, Dred takes it very seriously.
* TheTheocracy: Fourteen years before the start of the series, the Prime Order overthrew the monarchy and assumed total control of the realm.

----
* BigBad: Season 2 has [[BigBadDuumvirate The Three]], Dred's superiors and the apparent [[GodEmperor God Emperors]] of the Prime Order.
* TheChessmaster: During Season 4, The Three end up using Falista and Tobin as puppet rulers to enforce their control over the realm. Because they [[spoiler:brought Tobin back to life]], they use that as a bargaining chip even if Falista and Tobin don't share their morals. Tobin himself even thinks they're just using them as puppets.
* EvilChancellor: By Season 4, they act like this to Falista and Tobin as they largely just use them as puppets to enforce Prime Order control over the realm.
* GoodPowersBadPeople: Of The Three, the one that sits in the middle apparently has healing powers as demonstrated when she heals Garret. She can even [[spoiler:bring people back to life]].
* KarmicDeath: [[spoiler:When Two drains the life force out of tons of innocent people to serve her masters, there comes a bit of karma when those same masters end up killing her.]]
* {{Teleportation}}: Three's kinj allows him to teleport.
* YouHaveFailedMe: For failing to both stop the blossoming rebellion at the Outpost or kill Talon, Dred is punished by The Three by being stripped of his rank and imprisoned.

* DidYouActuallyBelieve: [[spoiler:He gloats to Naya that her family was executed years before and how she never even asked for some sort of proof they were alive before doing his bidding.]]
* DisproportionateRetribution: Dred ordered that Karric be executed because he witnessed the Elders being slaughtered many years ago and did nothing.
* TheDogBitesBack: He's on the receiving end of this. [[spoiler: After informing Naya he had her family killed long ago, she puts a knife through his gut]].

* {{Jerkass}}: He's a real asshole.

* ImprobableWeaponUser: He uses a giant table to K.O. Garret when at one point he tries to escape. One of the rare times he doesn't use his fist or foot.
* KickThemWhileTheyAreDown: He does this to Garret a couple times.
* NoNameGiven: He's never referred to by name.

* AgonyBeam: He can inflict this, [[spoiler: due to stealing One's kinj during the final battle of Season 2]].
* BeardOfEvil: Has a grey beard and is a thoroughly nasty piece of work.
* TheBrute: A thuggish soldier of the Prime Order. The episode descriptions even refer to him as a brute.
* DangerousDeserter: He and his men deserted from the Prime Order when [[spoiler: the United seized control of the Capital]], and have just been roaming the countryside, killing anyone who crosses their path. 609* FamousAncestor: All Blackbloods are descendants of [[spoiler:Aster]], one of a god-like ancient species whose union with a human woman created the first Blackblood, who fathered all the rest.

* MisplacedAccent: Blackbloods tend to speak with British accents except for her who speaks with a slight German accent. Makes sense since she's played by a German actress.
* NarniaTime: Rebb explains that the reason she looks just the same despite last being in the normal world over three hundred years ago is because time works differently in the Plane of Ashes. There's no sun or moon, and thus no way to really measure it anyway for them.
%%zce* ProudWarriorRaceGirl
* Really700YearsOld: She was actually born 300 years ago.

* AndThisIsFor: Right after pushing Levare through the portal created by Talon, Zed lays down a "that was for Nedra!"
* CavalryBetrayal: The season 2 finale has [[spoiler:Zed and the Blackbloods aiding in driving the Prime Order away... and then Zed declaring they're now in control and making everyone else prisoners.]]
* CannotSpitItOut: It's clear his feelings for Nedra are more than just friendship. [[spoiler: Sadly, he can never face up to that before she's killed]].
* ChildhoodFriends: Zed mentions that him, Nedra, and his brother Corven were all good friends as children.
* ClashingCousins: Despite the blood relationship with his cousin Yobhan, they really don't like each other. Most of it is down to how to handle humans, with Yobhan believing in a strong, firm, and hard treatment of humans with Zed being a bit more merciful.
* EasilyForgiven: Despite the fact that he's betrayed Talon ''twice'', she's still willing to work with him despite everything.
* ExactlyWhatIAimedAt: In a little scrap both him and Garret got in with Levare where they set out to burn down a forest to slow the six down, Zed seemingly fires a [[ArrowsOnFire fire arrow]] at Levare which she dodges which she retorts saying "you'll have do better than that", Zed simply smirks and replies "I already have", as the crate they brought seemingly filled with [[ExplodingBarrels explosive gas]], explodes and sets the forest on fire.
* ItsPersonal: Zed bears no love for Rebb, likely due to the fact that she killed his sister.

* SexyDiscretionShot: Used in "There Will Be a Reckoning", when Talon and Zed sleep together. They both kiss and start to take off their clothes, when the camera cuts away to them cuddling together on the morning after.
* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks: During the Season 4 finale, Zed manages to throw his sword straight through Kultor, allowing Garret to do the same and Talon to open a portal so they can both push him through the portal.
* TokenMinority: He's one in the four main characters of color on the show.

* ActuallyIAmHim: A variation. Alton talks of how he and Gwynn played around a lot with "Fat Sammy" and how he was a good friend. [[spoiler:It turns out Alton has been dead and the impostor is Sammy. "Lost a lot of weight since we last met."]]
* CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot: Upon discovering how [[spoiler:Alton is an impostor, Gwynn relates that had Sammy been up front and honest about being an old childhood friend, she'd have accepted him and welcomed him. Instead, he has to be executed for faking being Alton to con her out of gold.]]
* [[spoiler: KilledOffForReal: He's stabbed by Talon while under mind control to die in Gwynn's arms.]]
* WhatYouAreInTheDark: While it appeared that [[spoiler:Sammy (the fake Alton) was just a greedy coward, when he hears the Prime Order is coming, rather than run, he offers to fight with the soldiers. He proves himself in combat, saving Gwynn's life and taking a nasty stab wound himself.]]

->Played by: Georgia May Foote
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s3_falista_poster.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:250:'''Falista:''' ''"Time makes love grow. And you'll be with me, not Rosmund. And I'm confident that your old feelings for me will return in time."'']]
----
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: She grew up in Aegisford alongside Tobin, and they were childhood friends. They soon fell in love and had a romantic relationship for the majority of their teen years.
* DiedInYourArmsTonight: [[spoiler:Tobin dies in this fashion.]]
* TheFundamentalist: She becomes convinced of the "Gods" of season 4, even despite all evidence of them being monsters. It [[spoiler:costs her her life]].
* GodSaveUsFromTheQueen: It takes a little while, but after an assassination attempt on her life and falling under Two's influence, she really starts to go off the deep end.
* HolierThanThou: Hard to tell if she's this or just making excuses. When Talon and Zed break the news to her that Two was killed by the "Gods", she retorts by saying that "She was prideful and evil. She's been judged and punished. I'm the chosen vessel of the Gods now." [[spoiler:She turns out to be wrong.]]
* OldFlame: With Tobin.
* OldManMarryingAChild: Unknown if she was actually a child at the time, but she was married to Lord Relman, a much older man who was very wealthy.
* ReducedToDust: [[spoiler: Her final fate as the Masters kill her for her Kinj.]]
* TookALevelInBadass: Once she gets a [[spoiler: Kinj, she's able to inflict huge damage on others.]]
* TookALevelInJerkass: Pretty much any redeeming qualities she gained since her introduction are completely undone throughout season 4.
* TookALevelInKindness: She starts out a vain and spoiled woman but slowly shifts to willing to fight for others.
* TrophyWife: She was basically this for Lord Relman.

[[folder:Luna]]

->Played by: Maeve Courtier-Lilly
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/out3b01_0012.jpg]]
Ilyin's sister, a thief who blames Talon for her death but soon becomes an unlikely ally.
----
* ActionGirl: She's trained in Grinjorian, a rare form of martial arts that Talon is adept in. Even as a youngster, she was much better at fighting and less keen on becoming a member of the sanctuary.
* ArtfulDodger: She has a charm with her humor but is willing to rob anyone she can.
* AssassinationAttempt: Twice on Talon and once on Falista, all three of which are unsuccessful.
* BuriedInAPileOfCorpses: As a child, both her and Ilyin hid in a pile of bodies when Dred stormed into the sanctuary she and her sister were staying in. Unfortunately Ilyin stirred and her movement caught Dred's attention so he kidnapped her.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: The second time she tries to kill Talon, now sober this time, it doesn't take long before Talon has her on her back with a sword to her throat. Needless to say, it wouldn't be long before they're working together.
* TheDrifter: Becomes one after fleeing from the sanctuary that she was staying at.
* GreatEscape: After getting busted out of prison by Garret, she later returns the favor by breaking him out of prison in a later episode.
* HowAboutASmile: When busting Garret out of prison, she asks Garret to give her a "thank you" before she let's him out.
* LivingLieDetector: Just like her sister, she can tell when anyone is lying, though it's not quite as honed as Ilyin's power was.
* MisplacedRetribution: She goes to the outpost to hunt down and kill a dark-haired blackblood woman who killed her sister. She presumes that it's Talon and so she tries to kill her, and it takes a second meeting with Talon before she explains that it was a different dark-haired blackblood woman that killed her sister.
* OhCrap: During a BigDamnHero moment of hers to help a fleeing Talon and injured Zed, she fires an arrow at Vorta [[ArrowCatch which she stops with telekinesis powers]] and fires it back at Luna. It's at this moment she figured that now would be a good time to start running.
* OlderThanTheyLook: When Garret first meets her, he assumes she's about 14, only for her to correct him saying she's 18.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Inverted. She and her sister Ilyin look quite different from each other with Luna having an olive skin tone and a darker hair color.
* SuicidalOverconfidence: She can overestimate her skills which leads to some bad injuries.
* YouRemindMeOfX: Garret tells her this pretty much word for word when they first meet in prison. She obviously reminds him of Talon when she first arrived at the outpost.
-->'''Garret:''' All I'm saying, is that you really remind me of a friend of mine. When she first showed up at the outpost, she was always getting into fights and beating men at Octor, and getting thrown into more prison cells than I can count.

----
* FishOutOfWater: Upon being awakened, he's quite unfamiliar with not being subservient to someone else. He's stated to Janzo that he doesn't know what it's like to want something. He only exists to serve the Masters.
* HappilyMarried: The finale reveals that he has a wife and daughter.
* SlaveRace: 313 is a Kahvi, a race that apparently only exists to serve the Gods. He's always asking why he can't hear the voice of Vorta.
* YouAreNumberSix: He quite literally has no name at first, he just says that he's "313". Later, after turning to the good guys' side, Wren suggests "Marvyn" as a name for him. He accepts this.
* WouldntHurtAChild: He initially obeys the command to kill Janzo and Wren. After learning Wren's pregnant, however, 313 is shocked and stops, since he can't bring himself to hurt a child. This makes him rebel against his masters, because he's realized his choice to obey them was wrong as a result.

!!The Masters
[[folder:In General]]
* AlienBlood: Just like the blackbloods, the Masters also have black blood.
* AncientEvil: They're ancient beings who are trying to take over the world.
* BigBadDuumvirate: Of season 4.
* ForeheadOfDoom: Perhaps a slightly more literal example as all of them seem to have their kinjes on their foreheads.
* AGodAmI: They've got the Kahvi thinking they're gods.
* KillItWithIce: Their ultimate fate, as Talon banishes them to a dimension where it's so cold they freeze to death.
* TakeOverTheWorld: They've stated that this is their end goal.

* DimensionalTraveler: He has traveled across many different dimensions, and is responsible for bringing the Masters to the main dimension.
* HeroicSuicide: After determining his death is necessary to stop the other Masters, Aster lets Talon kill him willingly.
* MySpeciesDothProtestTooMuch: Of all of the Masters, he's the only one that seems to not be a total dickhead who wants to take over the world. He loves humans and Blackbloods and does all he can to protect them from his evil kin. [[spoiler:In fact, he sired the Blackblood race by having a child with a human woman, and they're all descended from this union.]]
* ThinkingUpPortals: His kinj lets him open portals to other dimensions, like Talon does.

The original carrier of the Janyakinj.
----
* BackFromTheDead: Her kinj's power gives her the ability to bring the dead back to life. However she has to absorb the life energy of another to do it.
* HealingFactor: Her kinj also apparently lets her heal severed body parts, such as when she restored Tera's detached hand.
* LifeDrain: Her kinj allows her to drain the life out of mortals, which she can then use to bring the dead back to life if she's drained enough life force.
* ShootTheMedicFirst: After [[spoiler:Talon gives Aster his HeroicSuicide]], Vorta orders Janya to resurrect [[spoiler:Aster]], Talon opens a portal behind Janya and Garret fires what seems to be an exploding arrow which launches her through the portal, saying "you wont be resurrecting anyone". Making her [[spoiler:other than Aster]] the first to meet their demise.

----
* ColorMotif: His kinj is red and he also just so happens to be the guy who can throw fireballs.
* CombatSadomasochist: His kinj quite literally allows him to inflict extreme pain on others.
* PlayingWithFire: He can summon fire and throw fire balls like it's some kind of mage spell, something previous human wielders of his kinj never did.

[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/406_sc163.png]]
The original carrier of the Terakinj.
----
* ColorMotif: As the one whose kinj allows him to kill basically anything he touches, is it any surprise his kinj is also called the "black kinj"?
* PinnedToTheWall: In a fight with Zed, he ends up getting backed up against a tree then Zed [[ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice Impales him with Extreme Prejudice]], pinning him against the tree, effectively immobilizing him. Levare later comes by and frees him.
* TouchOfDeath: His kinj, also known as the "black kinj", allows him to kill anything he touches. He does this to Two, Falista, Tobin and Nedra.

----
* ArrowCatch: There's an episode where Luna fires an arrow at her and she stops it, seemingly with telekinesis powers, turns it around and shoots it back at Luna. Luna has an OhCrap moment, and decides that now would be a good time to start running.
* FinalBoss: She's the last of the Masters to be defeated.
* HiveQueen: Same as Yavalla, she can create and control a HiveMind and infect others, forcing them to be complacent.
* MindOverMatter: She has telekinetic powers.
