!!Karyl Borgomirsky
A mercenary commander and a legend throughout Nuevaropa. His oldest companion is his pet allosaurus Shiraa, who imprinted on him when she hatched. He's betrayed and killed at the beginning of Lords, only to be revived and given a new purpose by Aphrodite.
----
* TheAce: Not only is he an excellent warrior, he's also a clever strategist and genius tactician. The tragedies in his life also make him a bit of a BrokenAce.
* AnArmAndALeg: Loses his left hand during his second death. Aphrodite makes it grow back within a few weeks.
* BackFromTheDead: Revived twice at the beginning of the story, first from a blow to the head with an axe and later from falling down a cliff.
* CameBackWrong: He's been resurrected but now he has regular migraines as well as nightmares. Plus the Fae removed his old emotional buffers he developed over his lifetime, though he hides it well he's struggling to reign in his emotions.
* TheChosenOne: He's been chosen to be Aphrodite's champion against the Grey Angels. Likewise, Uma the Fae Queen has also chosen him to be her instrument.
* ColonelBadass: He was promoted from Captain of the Providence army and this was final rank before Providence was sacked by Raguel's army and they became the Fugitive Legion.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: His mother and brother were killed by a wild allosaur, and then his father was killed by his stepmother, who proceeded to expel him from his family's land, with only his clothes and Shiraa on his back. He became a mercenary until he gathered enough strength to reclaim his lands.
* TheDreaded: He's is so well-known, no one wants to face him directly on the field.
* DreadfulMusician: He's not a musician by trade, and Rob notices it. Although he was one-handed at the time, it's possible he's simply not good.
* DoomMagnet: How he sees himself, since everyone he has loved has either died or suffered a FateWorseThanDeath.
* EasyComeEasyGo: Wealth comes and goes for him. He was exiled by his half-brother's mother when his voyvod father died and became a caravan guard and other miscellaneous combat-oriented jobs. Eventually he wins his title and land as voyvod only to become an extremist against the arts leading to his downfall as voyvod. He gains wealth and fame as the commander of the famous White River Legion only to lose that and his life. Brought back he was a street busker before he was hired to be the Captain and then Colonel of the Providence's new army. After that he became Imperial Duke which finally sticks.
* EasilyForgiven: He quickly forgives Rob Korrigan and Count Jaume for their roles in destroying the White River Legion and getting Karyl killed.
* ExpectingSomeoneTaller: Melodía is actually surprised he's rather average and unassuming.
* GoodIsNotNice: He was a very efficient and merciful Lord, who also happened to dissuade art and passions to maintain order.
* LivingLegend: He's famed throughout the Empire as an incredible commander of dinosaur forces.
* TheChampion: Aphrodite makes him her champion against the Grey Angels, a role he certainly doesn't enjoy.
* RagsToRiches: After the fall of the White River Legion and his death, he woke to only find himself with some clothes and his shikomizue (sword in staff). He became a street performer to eke out a living. Eventually he becomes an Imperial Duke and this time his wealth and title are lasting.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Unlike the vast majority of nobles, he's good to his underlings and knows them by name. He's also surprisingly quick to forgive transgressions against himself and Rob notes that he's never done anything for petty reason.s
* TheSocialExpert: He's actually smart enough to play people's expectations and convince them to work with him.
* TheStrategist: His main function with Providence was to devise strategies and Jaume claims that Karyl is unrivalled in Nuevaropa for that field of expertise.
* SupportingProtagonist: While one of the protagonists, most of what we see of him is from Rob's POV.
* WarriorPoet: He can give some pretty deep answers.
* WorldsBestWarrior: Many believe that of him, in Nuevaropa his swordsmanship might only be equalled by Jaume (Jaume himself has doubts he'd win between the two of them and his archery skills and strategic/tactical accumen is unrivalled.
----

!!Rob Korrigan
A wandering bard, rogue and dinosaur handler, who finds Karyl after the man lost his memories and decides to accompany him in his mission. He's rather frank and dislikes nobility as a whole, but makes an exception for Karyl.
----
* TheBeastmaster: He's a dinosaur handler and knows the different creatures very well.
* TheBard: He's a professional troubadour as well as dinosaur master.
* CombatPragmatist: Oh yeah, he's certainly not above giving someone a GroinAttack and then beat the shit out of them when they're on the ground. He's learnt his fighting skills from being through a lot of bar brawls
* HeroWorshipper: Self-admitted Karyl's number one fan.
* HorseOfADifferentColor: His mount is an Einiosaurus named Little Nell.
* ICallItVera: He carries around an axe that he named Wanda.
* KnowWhenToFoldThem: When the count who hired him orders a full front charge against a huge Triceratops force, he stays behind and then releases their secret weapon - very angry ankylosaurs.
* LovableRogue: He calls himself one more than once, and certainly fits the bill.
* NumberTwo: For Karyl throughout their entire experience at Providence. He's the one that instructs the people in basic combat while Karyl teaches the more advanced skills.
* TheKnightsWhoSaySquee: He's positively *ecstatic* to work with the famed Karyl Borgomirsky, despite his own accomplishments as a dinosaur handler.
* TheResenter: He actually hates nobles because a gang of nobles raped and murdered his older sister. At the time the only exception to this were such legendary and gracious heroes as Karyl and Jaume. Rob can easily lose his hatred if a noble he meets is a good person, he comes to like Princess Melodia and Emperor Felipe because of their decency.
----

!!Tir
Karyl's cousin. She belongs to the Olvan tribe and brings several Triceratopses to reinforce her cousin's army.
----
* ActionGirl: As befits a dinosaur knight.
* LadySwearsALot: Not to Lupe's degree, but she curses like a champ if she wants to.
----

!!Prince Jaume
The Comt de Flors and the Emperor's nephew, as well as one of the Empire's finest warriors and poets. He's betrothed to his cousin Melodía, whom he's very much in love, although that doesn't stop him from looking at his male companions.
----
* AgentPeacock: He's handsome, stylish and a great poet, and also happens to be the Emperor's champion, and a great warrior and field commander.
* ChickMagnet: His appearance sends all the ladies in Melodía's clique and her handmaidens swooning.
* CoolSword: His sword is named Lady's Mirror in honor of his patron deity.
* EveryoneHasStandards: Because of power differences owing to age and status, he won't have sexual relations with anyone of his Companions who is too young or too far off of the nobility. His relation with Pere dated back when they were both starting off as equals in their Order, before Jaume's promotion.
* TheFightingNarcissist: He's certainly full of himself, and worries about the army's aesthetics nearly as much as actual combat.
* FirstPersonSmartass: Isn't allowed to snark out loud, so he does it in his head.
* TheHedonist: He enjoys the beauty and pleasures in life to their fullest, and this philosophy even inspired the Garden of Truth and Beauty.
* HorseOfADifferentColor: His personal dinosaur mount is a Corythosaurus named Camellia.
* KissingCousins: He and Melodía are cousins and clearly in love with each other. Among the nobility, this isn't rare.
* MrFanservice: His physique and beauty are noted by Melodía several times.
* WarriorPoet: Literally; he rides to war and writes poetry.
----

!!Princess Melodía
The older of the two Imperial princesses, Melodía wants nothing more than prove herself, both as a politician and a warrior, but her temper and sheltered upbringing blind her to the harsh realities of the world.
----
* AffectionateNickname: 'Día', by her clique.
* BreakTheHaughty: At the end of Lords and she's forced to escape the palace hidden under dinosaur dung. In Knights, she's beaten up by Pilar to make their charade convincing, and when she arrives to Providence and tries to help, disaster ensues. After that she grows a lot.
* CoolBigSis: While she sometimes ignores her sister Montserrat, she truly cares about her.
* CoolHorse: Her beloved mare Marevellosa.
* DeadpanSnarker: Always has some cutting remarks about the people around her, and in contrast to her boyfriend, she rarely keeps them to herself.
* FieryRedhead: Has wine-colored hair and is very fiery-tempered.
* ImportantHaircut: Cuts her long hair to separate herself from her previous role. She starts to regrow it in Princess.
* KissingCousins: She and Jaume are cousins and are in love with each other.
* MsFanservice: Her average wardrobe at the palace is only a loin cloth and a feathered yoke.
* NiceToTheWaiter: At the end of Knights, she decides that she's not going take her servants for granted ever again, and decides to learn their names, families and their dreams.
* PrettyPrincessPowerhouse: Melodía slowly morphs into one when she joins the militia; one-third into Knights she's already slaying dinosaur riders from horseback.
* RedBaron: She's known amongst the Fugitive Legion as the "Short-haired Horse Captain" for her new close-cropped haircut and her skill in leading their light cavalry.
* SkilledButNaive: She clearly has a lot of military knowledge and skill as a warrior, but has a rather naive view of the outside world.
* StatuesqueStunner: She's actually 1.76m (5'9), and has some muscle too.
* TookALevelInBadass: From a skilled, but hopelessly naive princess, to an experienced horse-raider capable of slaying dinosaur knights on horseback.
----

!!Duke Falk von Hornverg
A former northern rebel who joins the Empire's court, earning the emperor's trust, and eventually becoming head of his guard (after defeating his predecessor). He plans on becoming the most influential person the emperor listens to, all under orders from his mother, the Dowager Duchess.
----
* AbusiveParents: He dreads his mother, who manipulates and controls him, and his father was openly one, until Falk snapped and pushed him down the stairs to his death.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Pretends to be a loyal supporter of the Emperor, when he's actually a manipulative bastard with creepy thoughts towards Melodía.
* TheBrute: Downplayed, everyone notes his unusual size and strength but he's actually very intelligent and manipulative though he constantly defers to his mother and Bergdahl.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Not his mother, but Snowflake, since its the only being that shows Falk genuine kindness.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: While undermining a political rival is standard for nobles, he's furious that Bergdahl continues to spread damaging rumors among the army when they're about to face an enemy that heavily outnumbers them.
* EvilVirtues: Melodia notes that he's as courageous as he is evil.
* TongueTrauma: In Dinosaur Princess, Falk engages in a sword fight with Karyl. For his efforts, Falk ends up getting his tongue severed by Karyl's shikomizue.
* UnknownRival: He wants to earn Jaume's recognition, aspiring to surpass him. Jaume only sees him as a coworker, not a rival.
* WellDoneSonGuy: Wants nothing more than to impress his mother the Dowager Duchess, who belittles and manipulates him like a child. Its obvious she would never encourage or recognize his achievements.
----

!!Bergdahl
Falk's master servant - or rather, Lady vor Hornverg's servant whom she thrust upon her son to control him.
----
* ManipulativeBastard: Plays with Falk's emotions like a fiddle, and is excellent at spreading rumors at court.
* ObviouslyEvil: His face is described as goblin-like by Falk and Rob, has the complexion of a scarecrow, and there's the way he treats those he considers his lesser.
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: Constantly refers to Melodía as a whore or a cunt in his talks with Falk. Rob later found out he beat a prostitute to death.
* ServileSnarker: He constantly snarks and belittles Falk despite nominally serving him.
* TheCorrupter: Loves pushing Falk into greater villainy when he shows hesitance or has surges of conscience.
* TreacherousAdvisor: He's assigned by Falk as Rob's seneschal, not knowing he wants nothing more than sabotage him for Falk and his mother.
----

!!Emperador Felipe
The elected lord of Nuevaropa, and Melodía's and Montserrat's father. He's perfectly aware that he's little more than a figurehead, but can execise the power he nominally has from time to time.
----
* DotingParent: Known to indulge both his daughters, whenever he has time for them.
* TheEmperor: Although his position doesn't have that much real power.
* HeadInTheSandManagement: Many people at court, including his own daughter, think sending a Corregidor army to Terraroja is a very bad idea, since it seems as if the Emperor is attacking his own people. However, most of his bad decisions are thanks to his mysterious confessor Fray Jerónimo.
* TheMourningAfter: The death of his beloved wife Marisol deeply affected him, and hasn't looked at any other woman since.
* ParentsAsPeople: While he genuinely loves his daughters and wants to do was right as emperor, his stubbornness and lack of foresight for inner problems make him a rather unstable ruler for an empire in dire times.
* TryToFitThatOnABusinessCard: His list of titles is so long, it takes several minutes for the herald to say them all.
* UglyGuyHotWife: Felipe isn't known to be a looker, he's got protuberant eyes and been dealing with obesity his whole life. His beautiful daughter Melodia got her looks from her mom, Marisol.
* UnfitForGreatness: Melodía believes he was elected emperor because most saw him as completely average, and while he has taken reasonable and sometimes wise decisions, his stubbornness while making choices, his ignorance of subjects that don't interest him and his mistaken trust in Jerónimo and Falk are seen as a recipe for disaster in the conflicts to come.
* WarriorPrince: He was one in his youth and served as a common pikeman to his uncle. He still is an expert warrior, after the battle against Raguel people saw that his sword became heavily notched from all the hordelings he struck down personally.
----

!!Princess Montserrat
Second Imperial Princess, Montserrat is only 14 (10 years by our standards) years old, but is more clever than people giver her credit for.
----
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: She has dark blonde hair, and is a kind and friendly person.
* NiceToTheWaiter: Likes watching the servants of the palace do their work. Her friendliness with the servants is the reason why they help her sneak out Melodía from the palace.
* ThePigPen: Her sister mentions that she can barely walk around without getting dirty.
* TomboyPrincess: In contrast to her older sister, she likes running around with servants and getting her hands (and most of herself, really_ dirty.
* WiseBeyondHisYears: By our standards she's only around ten, but is much smarter than people give her credit for. Best exemplified in Princess when, after being kidnapped, she keeps sending hidden messages for her rescuers whenever they stop.
----

!!Pilar
Princess Melodía's loyal handmaiden.
----
* GoodIsNotSoft: She's nice and loyal, but also capable of beating the shit out of Melodía to make their charade as a noble and her servant convincing.
* HeroicSacrifice: Lets herself be devoured by raptors to allow Melodía to escape from Count Guillaume.
* MasterActor: She's surprisingly good at pretending to be a noble lady.
* NiceGirl: Unless it's a life-or-death situation, she's by far the nicest of Melodía's palace companions.
* RoguishRomani: She's actually a Traveller (same as Rob though they're both of different ethnicities) and there's indication she's a worshipper of the Fae, despite their worship being proscribed by the Book of Law. Her background as a Traveller, despite mostly growing up alongside Melodie, is why she's so competent and cunning.
* SacrificialLion: Dies near the mid-climax of Knights in a way that changes Melodía to the very core.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Melodía.
----

* FemmeFatale: Knows she still has the goods, and how to use them to ingratiate herself with the Emperor.
* GreaterScopeVillain: For Lords and Knights she remains as the power behind Falk's ambitions. She takes the main stage in Princess.
* MyBelovedSmother: Controls Falk like a child, telling him she knows what's best for him.
* SilverVixen: Her adult son notes her breasts are barely sagging and her hips are still firm. And she knows it.
* StatuesqueStunner: As tall as Jaume, who's 1.80m, and is barely shorter than her son.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: Considers Karyl nothing more than a brute without political acumen. Too late does she realize she's sorely mistaken, as his skill in battle translates fairly well into politics. She also thinks Karyl and Rob would be easily killed by her hired goons, while they escape after severely injuring Falk and Snowflake.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Has long, silver blonde hair and
----

!!Rosamaría Delgao, la Gran Madrota
Emperor Felipe's grandmother and Melodía's great-grandmother. She's considered the oldest living person in Paradise, at 300 years old (about 187 on our years). While she usually inhabits the Torre Delgao, she comes to court to help Melodía in counteracting Falk and his mother's influence.
----
* ChekhovsGunman: Mentioned briefly by Melodía in Lords and makes her first appearance in Princess.
* CoolOldLady: Old as a fossil, but still cool as a cucumber.
* GoodIsNotNice: Wants to keep her family in power and safe, but admits she has done pretty ruthless things.
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: Says she has done lots of things she's not proud of, but had to for the sake of the family.

* ScrewPolitenessImASenior: Knows how old she is and how to get away with throwing court etiquette out the window.
* TheMentor: Becomes Melodía's mentor in court intrigue so that she can counter the von Hornberg's influence.

* FullFrontalAssault: Wears nothing but a cape during the final battle between the Empire and the horde.
* Hypocrite: Despite being one of most vocal supporters of pacifism and egalitarianism, she loves all the new power that's been conferred on her.

* LightIsNotGood: Rides a white hadrosaur and wears a white cape during the final battle between the horde and the Imperial army.

* ChurchMilitant: One of the biggest preachers of an armed Crusade against the Garden of Love and Beauty.

* ThanatosGambit: His death actually forces the church to endorse his final will of a crusade, despite their dislike for his warlike policies.
----

!!Bishop Tavares
A Papal Legate assigned to the Correction Army to be in charge of their 'spiritual health'. Unfortunately for Jaume, instead of doing that, he undermines his authority every time he can and incites the army in committing atrocities in the name of expiating sins.

* RewardedAsATraitorDeserves: Goes to Raguel's side the moment the two armies meet to continue slaughtering his fellow humans. The Grey Angel waits until he and his cronies are within the mob, then he orders the horde to rip them to pieces. Florian thinks he deserved it, and no one argues.
* TurbulentPriest: Villainous version, since he incites the Corregidor army into a bloody frenzy where innocent people are tortured, raped and killed in the name of purging their sins.
----

----
* CampStraight: While just as pretty and flamboyant as the other Companions, Jaume notes he doesn't take male lovers.
* DeadpanSnarker: He always brings the snark whenever someone does or acts stupid, bringing some headaches to his superior.
* FrenchJerk: More like French JerkWithAHeartOfGold. He's deadpan and occasionally mean to the other Companions, but he nonetheless follows Jaume unconditionally.
* HorseOfADifferentColor: His personal mount is a Parasaurolophus named Here-Comes-Trouble.
----

One of the main proponents for the Crusade, less for religious reasons and more because he loves treating his serfs worse than his cattle.
----
* AristocratsAreEvil: Not only does his army RapePillageAndBurn for fun, he even uses his pack of trained raptors to hunt innocent people.
* DiscOneFinalBoss: The main antagonist for the first half of Knights and once he's finished, Raguel's threat shows up.

----

The GeniusLoci of Paradise, a NatureSpirit of sorts who wishes for humanity's continued survival, in contrast to pretty much every other "magical" creature on the planet.

* GeniusLoci: She's the spirit of Paradise.

!!Raguel
The first of the Grey Angels to be seen directly acting against the Paradisians. Like all his kin, he despises humans and would much rather wipe the slate clean.
----
* AffablyEvil: He's actually surprisingly fun to be around, if you ignore the omnicidal tendencies.
* BigBad: Of Knights.
* BodyHorror: His statue-like body crumbles, revealing a skeletal frame underneath.
* EvilIsBigger: He's at least three times taller than a human.
* FanDisservice: His massive penis is described as very unsettling by Melodía.
* TheManBehindTheMan: He's behind the corruption of the Gardeners at Providence.
* NoBodyLeftBehind: Its body crumbles into dust after being defeated.
* NotQuiteDead: Him getting snapped by Shira is an inconvenience as that "body" was merely a projection. But due to Geas-like rules, he's not allowed to attack humanity again until it's his turn.
* RedOniBlueOni: He's the red to Uriel's blue, being energetic, cheerful and even fun, although he's associated with ice.
----

!!Uriel
A fellow Grey Angel with a far more serene temperament. Whereas his kinsmen prefer direct action, Uriel skulks in the shadows to play the game of empires.
----
* OnlySaneMan: Ironically ends up mediating between Aphrodite and Gabriel when they interact. Even he is surprised he's doing it.
* RedOniBlueOni: The blue to Raguel's red, being calm, thoughtful and introspective although he's actually associated with fire.
* TheFundamentalist: Raguel calls him one.
* TheManBehindTheMan:
----

!!Gabriel
The third Grey Angel introduced, taking on the role of Red Oni to Uriel's Blue after Raguel is offed.
----
* DeathGlare: Gives one to Aphrodite when they encounter each other at Raguel's mental world.
* FieryRedhead: Takes the form of a woman with red-blonde hair, and is very fierce and emotional.
* GiantWoman: Her human form is 2.5m tall.
* LastEpisodeNewCharacter: Shows up only at the prologue and epilogue of Princess.
* MyRulesAreNotYourRules: Normally a Grey Angel will decay from their beautiful form, Gabriel is exempt from this. She's also the only Grey Angel capable of entering another Angel's "dream" without needing permission.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: The only female Grey Angel so far.
----

!!Uma
The Queen of the Fae, who wants to destroy humanity, but not as much as she wants to destroy the Grey Angels.
----
* ChaoticStupid: Inverted. The Fae are normally ChaoticStupid in their fickleness and have no more forethought than to entertain whatever is their current whim. Aphrodite mentions that Uma is almost unique among the Fae for being able to hold motivation and plan accordingly, it's this ability that lets her become the self-proclaimed Queen of the Fae.
* EnemyMine: Make no mistake, she hates Aphrodite and humanity, but hates the Grey Angels even more, hence her offer to Karyl about aiding him.
* TheFairFolk: She's the Queen of the Fae, and her way of thinking is very different from a human. Even Aphrodite has trouble understanding her.
* ForTheEvulz: Why did she let her Fae torture Karyl after reviving him? It amused her.
* AFormYouAreComfortableWith: Can appear as a tall woman with glowing skin, like how she tries to seduce Karyl.
* KillItWithFire: Kills a dinosaur knight that intended to mutilate Karyl by burning him with her magical fire until his corpse is unrecognizable.
* LesserOfTwoEvils: She doesn't deny that she wants to destroy humanity, but can wait some centuries, the Grey Angels want to purge the world now, so Aphrodite thinks she's the better option.
* SelfMadeMan: The Fae actually don't have royalty. She's a self-proclaimed monarch but she's able to get most other Fae to generally do her bidding because she's not ChaoticStupid and she's a greater, more powerful entity than the vast majority of them (most are little more than ethereal flying bugs that can talk).
* WalkingSpoiler: Her identity is a huge spoiler for Princess.

!!Shiraa
Karyl's loyal allosaurus, whom he has raised since hatching. After being separated from Karyl at the beginning of Lords, she decides to look for her missing 'mother', like a good allosaurus.
----
* ActionPet: She's an Allosaurus, for crying out loud.
* ArchEnemy: Has made Snowflake her personal dinosaur nemesis.
* BigDamnHeroes: Arrives to save Karyl from Raguel, killing the angel just in time.
* Determinator: Nothing will stop her from finding her 'mom'.
* MonstrousCannibalism: Eats a smaller allosaurus that was annoying her.
* StealthyColossus: She's an ambush predator, and as such she's very stealthy if she needs to.
----

!!Little Nell
Rob's personal mount. A two ton einiosaurus, she's Rob's oldest companion.
----
* GentleGiant: She's a rather placid herbivore, but a beast of war and burden nonetheless.
* IronicName: As mentioned above, she's bigger and heavier than the largest draft horses.
----

!!Snowflake
Falk's ride, a rather small, very rare albino Tyrannosaurus rex.
----
* FluffyTheTerrible: Why would someone name an albino T. Rex "Snowflake" is anyone's guess.
* MightyRoar: Wouldn't be a T-rex if he didn't had one.
* OnlyFriend: The only creature in the world to unconditionally love Falk.
----
