!!Troll Tribunal

[[folder:As a whole]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/troll_tribunal.png]]

A council of troll leaders from different tribes who watch over the well-being of trollkind and come together when in dire circumstances, especially Gunmar.
----

* AntiVillain: Excluding Vendel, who is on the good side, and [[spoiler:Usurna, who is a [[TheMole secret advisor/spy of Gunmar's]],]] the Tribunal as a whole act as both Type II and III. They are nothing but a biased nuisance to the heroes, but they do genuinely care about the troll community and had every right to claim that Jim entering the Darklands alone was reckless. However, they've let their fear of Gunmar cloud their judgments and decide to blame Jim instead of protecting trollkind and dealing with Gunmar. Of course, [[spoiler:they've been unknowingly influenced by Usurna to distract them and allow Gunmar to take Trollmarket for himself]].
* DirtyCoward: Toby accuses them of being this, as they're willing to risk the life of a human child that would've caused scrutiny for TheMasquerade just because they don't wanna deal with Gunmar, or even a couple of ''minor Gumm-Gumm scouts''.
* HeroAntagonist: Although they're against Gunmar, they serve as the secondary threat in Part Two, acting as [[ObstructiveBureaucrat obstructive nuisances]] to the Trollhunters after they've escaped the Darklands and unintentionally freed Gunmar. [[spoiler:However, one of Tribunal members is later revealed to actually ''be'' evil.]]
* IdiotBall: If they're so worried about Gunmar being freed and are willing to send Jim – their ''own Trollhunter'' – to his doom, why hasn't it occurred to them that Jim possesses the ''only'' weapon capable of slaying the one troll they fear most?
* JerkassHasAPoint: The Tribunal have been nothing but ignorant nuisances throughout Part Two and were [[spoiler:influenced by the evil Usurna]]. However, they're not completely wrong that a human child [[HonorBeforeReason entering the barren Darklands alone]] without their knowledge/permission firsthand was stupid and reckless. The problem is, they choose to blame Jim instead of plotting to deal with Gunmar.
* KangarooCourt: Clearly, the Tribunal's courts are almost always stacked to go against the accused, not to mention the members are ''allowed'' to be unfairly biased against them.
* LawfulStupid: Granted, [[spoiler:Usurna has [[ManipulativeBitch clouded the Tribunals' minds with their fear of Gunmar and skepticism of the human Trollhunter]] to help Gunmar achieve Trollmarket]]. However, it was ''monumentally stupid'' of the members to put Jim on trial instead of plotting to stop Gunmar. Vendel was, by far, the OnlySaneMan of the Tribunal who hasn't fallen under [[spoiler:Usurna's influence]].
* LoonyLaws: Their justice system works very differently than that of humans.
* NeverMyFault: Although Team Trollhunters were partially responsible for Gunmar's unintentional release from the Darklands, it is argued that the Tribunal are just as responsible – if not ''more'', in fact. If they'd allowed Jim to deal with a few Gumm-Gumm scouts chasing him before they closed the Killahead Bridge, then [[CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot the chain of events that would lead up to Gunmar's escape would NEVER have occurred]].
* ObstructiveBureaucrat: While the Trollhunters are actively doing something to try and stop Gunmar, all the Tribunal does is act as biased nuisances to the heroes, from blaming them for releasing Gunmar to [[spoiler:convicting Jim to his presumed death, which ultimately leads to Trollmarket's downfall when Usurna murders [[OnlySaneMan Vendel]] and hands it over to Gunmar]].
* SkewedPriorities: Instead of being reasonable leaders and actively deal with Gunmar to protect their world, the Tribunal instead focuses on the Trollhunters to question them, and later puts Jim on trial for releasing Gunmar, [[spoiler:which only gave Gunmar more time to sneak into Trollmarket and apprehend it. Justified as Usurna, a member of the Tribunal ''working'' for Gunmar, used their fear and arrogance to turn them against the Trollhunter instead of foiling her plans.]]
* WellIntentionedExtremist: They are well aware of how much of a threat [[TheDreaded Gunmar]] is to trollkind, but are willing to use any means necessary to keep him locked up. Even risk TheMasquerade by trapping Jim in the Darklands, [[DidntThinkThisThrough which would cause Arcadia to question his whereabouts and almost expose the troll world]].

[[folder:Vendel]]
!!Vendel
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vendel_trollhunters.jpg]]

Former leader of Heartstone Trollmarket, Vendel acts as elder adviser to the Trollhunter.

----
* BenevolentMageRuler: Underneath all his cantankerous cynicism, he's an understanding and reliable authority figure in Trollmarket.
* CrazyPrepared: Brings an anamnesis stone with him when he goes to present evidence of a Changeling spy in Trollmarket, [[spoiler:so that if he gets killed as a result, the stone will be able to replay his last moments, providing Jim and co with valuable information.]]
* DeadpanSnarker: He occasionally makes dry remarks regarding Jim's role as Trollhunter.
* DentedIron: In his youth, he was once strong enough to wrestle AAARRRGGHH!!! to a standstill.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:He is killed in season 2 for his knowledge of TheMole in Trollmarket and to [[FrameUp discredit Jim]]]].
* OldMaster: The oldest troll in Trollmarket
* OnlySaneMan: Basically, he's the only member of the Tribunal who believes the Trollhunter's trial for releasing Gunmar to be a waste of time and tries to implore his colleagues to deal with the real threat... [[spoiler:only to realize that one of the Tribunal was Gunmar's [[TheMole mole]] the whole time]].
* ProphetEyes: His eyes appear milky white.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Becomes one in the second half of Part One after Jim [[spoiler:kills Bular.]]
* RulesLawyer: He's presumably the leader of Trollmarket, so naturally, he pulls this trope.
* TookALevelInKindness: In the first half of Part One, he starts off (like many other trolls) as distrusting and mocking towards Jim. After [[spoiler:Jim kills Bular]], he gets a lot better.

->'''Voiced by:''' Fred Tatasciore

A massive mountain troll known for hoarding treasures and superior of the Volcanic Trolls.
----
* AntiVillain: Gatto's not affiliated with Gunmar in any sort of way nor has any intentions of world conquest. However, the fact that he's willing to let the world fall into chaos, eat his own people plus visitors, make up slanderous accusations, and even run away from Gunmar's mere presence makes him villainous enough.
* BadBoss: Will devour his own servants quite readily.
* EvilIsPetty: [[spoiler:Gatto knows fully well that Gunmar will destroy everything and everyone once the Eternal Night began. Yet he refuses to allow his Volcanic Trolls to fight along with Blinky against Gunmar simply because Blinky escaped his captivity twice.]]
* FightingAShadow: He can use a group of rocks resembling his face to communicate with those outside his domain.
* GeniusLoci: Gatto is a Mountain-size troll akin to a living volcano, his stomach acting as the vault to vast, magical treasures like the Birthstone.
* {{Jerkass}}: Don't expect him to keep his word.
* LargeAndInCharge: He is about the size of a mountain and rules over the Volcanic Trolls.
* LethalLavaLand: He is a living volcano.
* MonstrousCannibalism: He "accidentally" eats his servants on a regular basis, and keeps treasure in his stomach to lure victims.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: He (in the form of his floating face) ''immediately'' flees [[spoiler:when Gunmar reveals himself to Trollmarket in the Season 2 finale.]]
* WeaksauceWeakness: Tacos will give him the geological equivalent of burning diarrhea in a matter of seconds (especially weaksauce due to how tiny they are compared to [[GeniusLoci him]]), also because of his massive size and shape he can't get up and walk, requiring smaller trolls to bring food to his mouth.

The new queen regent of the Quagawump Tribe after Blungo's death and a close friend of Toby's.
----
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Wumpa willingly handed Toby the Killstone, even though he lied to her, as [[IOweYouMyLife he saved her life]].
* DumbassHasAPoint: Although she's merely afraid for her life that Gunmar would escape, she's right that Jim's decision to enter the Darklands alone was foolish.
* EasilyForgiven: [[spoiler:Blinky forgives Wumpa for handing him over to Usurna, mostly because he knew she was just trying to look after her people]].
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: [[spoiler:Wumpa betrays Blinky and Aaarrrgghh!!! to Usurna in order to protect her people. Luckily, soon after Usurna is drowned in a bog, Wumpa quickly allies her tribe with Blinky's to stop Gunmar.]]
* TurnTheOtherCheek: Forgives Toby for lying about being the human reincarnate of the Shattered King, and still gives him the Killstone [[BecauseYouWereNiceToMe as gratitude for saving her life]].

A member of the Tribunal.
----
* AllThereInTheScript: Is never mentioned by name in the series, but her name appears in the end credits of her appearances.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler:After Gunmar reveals himself to Trollmarket, Bork is his first unwilling recruit, turning her into a Gumm-Gumm]].
* FlatCharacter: Not much about Bork is expanded upon, other than the fact that she's a leader of another tribe and a member of the Tribunal. [[spoiler:She sadly gets brainwashed by Gunmar before more could be built on her.]]
* ReusedCharacterDesign: She has the same design as Nomura but with a different hairstyle, skin color, and choice of clothing.
* TooDumbToLive: [[spoiler:Bork put up a good front refusing to bow before Gunmar, but it cost her her own free will.]]

!!!'''Appearances:''' ''WesternAnimation/{{Trollhunters}}'' | ''WesternAnimation/Wizards2020''
->'''Voiced by:''' Fred Tatasciore

A troll living in Trollmarket, Bagdwella is a troll that repeatedly has the Trollhunter runs errands for her.
----
* HiddenDepths: ''ComicBook/TrollhuntersTheSecretHistoryOfTrollkind'' reveals that when the trolls aboard the Mayflower were starving some of them (Blinky included) wanted to eat the human yet Bagdwella actually chastised him for it and wantes to stick to the Pact.
* KarmaHoudini: She tries mailing a volatile, highly infectious (and possibly illegal) gravity curse to her sister, possibly as a prank. It causes the Trollhunting team nothing but grief for the [[Recap/TrollhuntersS1E19Airheads entire episode]] and no consequences are confirmed to fall on Bagdwella.
* TheMainCharactersDoEverything: She repeatedly has Jim do menial work that she could either do herself or have other people do (like dealing with gnome infestations or mailing packages for her), getting away with it because the Trollhunter is obligated to heed the call regardless of context.
* NominalImportance: She is one of the few Trollmarket citizens that gets a name and she is also one of the more recurring minor characters, even being the first to leave the cave to safety after the evacuation of Trollmarket.

!!!'''Appearances:''' ''WesternAnimation/{{Trollhunters}}'' | ''WesternAnimation/Wizards2020''
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/IkeAmadi

An ancient assassin who hunts Trollhunters.
----
* AntagonistAbilities: Against Bular, all Jim needed was his sword and quick thinking. Angor Rot on the other hand is not so easy to deal with, his magic allowing him to trap Jim, steal his sword, summon {{Mooks}} and a variety of other tricks meant to disorient, divide and conquer.
* ArcVillain: The main antagonist for the second half of the first season ever since [[spoiler:Bular's death]].
* ArtifactOfDoom: The Inferna Copula, a ring that houses Angor Rot's soul. Should another wear the ring, Angor's will is forced under the control of the one who wields it.
* BondVillainStupidity: More than once, he's had Jim at his mercy, but chooses to spare him each time. [[spoiler:Justified as he wants to use Jim to free himself from Strickler's control. [[SubvertedTrope Once the handcuffs are finally off, he pulls no punches from then on.]]]]
* ColdHam: Rarely raises his voice, yet manages to maintain a terrifying presence all the same.
* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: To Bular. Bular was a HotBlooded fighter who got by on brute force and disdained sticking to the shadows. Angor Rot, on the other hand, relies more on cunning than strength, preferring to study his targets meticulously before setting elaborate traps and ambushes for them.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler:He made a bargain with Morgana to help his village in the war, but ended up having his soul taken and was ordered by her to kill future Trollhunters.]]
* DealWithTheDevil: Made a deal to sell his soul to gain great magical powers.
* DemotedToDragon: Thanks to Strickler having possession of the Inferna Copula, a magic ring that contains Angor's soul. [[spoiler:It doesn't last.]]
* TheDragon: For Strickler, albeit an unwilling one.
* DragonWithAnAgenda: Is constantly scheming to free himself from Strickler's control. [[spoiler:Eventually he succeeds, but at the cost of his soul.]]
* DragonInChief: He is much more active and dangerous than Strickler is. The only reason that Strickler's plan to seize power for himself lasts as long as it does is because he is able to control Angor Rot. [[spoiler:Once Rot is free, the rest of Strickler's allies desert him and he is left helpless, proving that Rot was always the more powerful of the two.]]
* TheDreaded: Feared by Trollhunters for a good reason.
* EmpathicWeapon: His Shadow Staff is fueled by the negative emotions of it's user; light purple when unpowered, and dark purple when the user is angry and the staff becomes active. [[SuppressedRage It says a lot that the thing is ALWAYS dark purple when in Angor Rots hands]].
* EvilerThanThou: [[spoiler:Once he's free of the Inferna Copula's control, he easily cows [[BigBadWannabe Strickler]] and proves to be ''much'' more dangerous than Bular or Strickler had even been.]]
* EvilIsNotAToy: If there's one ultimate mistake he made in his life, it was overestimating Morgana's generosity.
* EvilIsPetty: He's absolutely tickled when he sees the Lakes having a familial spat as he spies on them for the first time.
* EvilSoundsDeep: As he is without a soul, he speaks with a low, ominous voice.
* EyeScream: [[spoiler:Loses his right eye when Jim carves it to take away his ability to steal Daylight]].
* FinalBoss: He acts as this for Part 1, being the final antagonist Jim faces before going into the Darklands.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: [[spoiler:He was once an ordinary Troll citizen. Now, he's a feared assassin.]]
* HeroKiller: Killed many Trollhunters [[spoiler:and one of the main characters, AAARRRGGHH!!!]].
* HoistByHisOwnPetard:
** He uses a curse to allow him to wield Jim's Sword of Daylight. [[spoiler:And Angor winds up accidentally destroying his soul with the sword.]]
** [[spoiler:He ends up turning into stone with his own Creeper Sun Blade.]]
* {{Irony}}: He approached [[spoiler:Morgana]] to gain the power to protect his people from Gunmar and was subsequently enslaved into hunting the Trollhunters, who were the Gumm-Gumm tyrant's chief opposition.
** [[spoiler:This gets even worse in Part 3, where he is forced to work with Gunmar through Morgana's orders after she resurrects him.]]
* JumpedOffTheSlipperySlope: After Jim [[spoiler:tricks him into destroying The Inferna Copula, Angor's soul withers away before his eyes, presumably because of all the death he has caused. He doesn't take it well.]]
* KnightOfCerebus: While the show is hardly sunshine and rainbows, the mood always darkens when he turns up.
* LimitedWardrobe: Of a CGI model variety; while his BlackEyesOfCrazy and clustered rot holes at first appear to be due to his undead nature, it turns out he's had the exact same design, down to his clothing, since before he even gained his powers.
* LiterallyShatteredLives: [[spoiler:[[HoistByHisOwnPetard After Jim uses Angor's own dagger to turn Angor into stone]], Toby smashes the petrified troll into rubble for good measure.]]
* MagicKnight: Uses magic (golems), imbued weapon spells, and traps to hunt prey. And is no slouch when it comes to physically fighting others.
* MagicStaff: Carries a Shadow Staff that lets him make portals and stand in daylight without harm, until it becomes [[spoiler:Claire's signature weapon.]]
* MasterSwordsman: Curses Jim, allowing him to use Jim's sword. [[spoiler:Thanks to Jim forging Angor's eye into a stone for him to use, it breaks the curse, losing his main advantage over Jim]].
* MookMaker: Can create golems using small statues and the surrounding elements.
* NeverMyFault: [[spoiler:Accidentally destroyed his own soul upon destroying the ring, [[HoistByHisOwnPetard and with Jim's sword he stole from him]], but seeks to kill Jim for it]].
* OurLichesAreDifferent: He is a troll lich, with his soul being sealed in the Inferna Copula ring.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: [[spoiler:After regaining his soul, Angor betrays Morgana and orders Jim to kill them both in order to end the battle, but unfortunately Morgana survives, while he shatters.]]
* SenselessSacrifice: Seizes [[spoiler:Morgana to give Jim the chance to impale them both, but Morgana proves invulnerable to the weapon while Angor is mortally wounded]].
* SealedEvilInACan: Specifically sealed under rocks and chains, or at least he appears to be this way based on his dialogue with Strickler.
* ShadowWalker: Through the use of his staff.
* TakenForGranite: This is one of his signature moves, thanks to his Creeper's Sun Blades. [[spoiler:Fittingly, this is also how he meets his end.]]
* TokenGoodTeammate: In the third season he still serves Morgana and the Gumm-Gumms under her, but his more empathetic side is revealed, culminating with [[spoiler:a full HeelFaceTurn]].
* TheSoulless: Losing his soul to [[spoiler:Morgana]] made him cruel. [[spoiler:Accidentally destroying it himself drove him insane.]]
* TheStarscream: Just because he's bound to obey the one wearing the Inferna Copula doesn't necessarily mean he has to ''like'' it. During his time under Strickler's control, Angor makes various attempts to take the ring from Strickler, even going as far as to secretly make a deal with Jim.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: PlayedWith, Angor certainly understands that Jim's friends can be dangerous when together so often works to separate him from them, but he tends to be dismissive of them on an individual level. This causes him to be bested by Claire at least twice and [[spoiler:killed by Toby coming out of Claire's portal.]]
* UngratefulBastard: After he's freed, his first act is to try and murder Strickler and Otto (he had already killed the Goblin that had accompanied them) for releasing him.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: [[spoiler:Initially tried to make a bargain with a seemingly EldritchAbomination for magical powers to defend his home from Gunmar and the Gumm-Gumms. When instead Angor's soul is extracted to make the [[SoulJar the Inferna Copula]], he starts hunting Trollhunters under orders of the mysterious magical being (later revealed to be Morgana).]]
* WouldHitAGirl: Has no problem attempting to kill Claire.
* WouldHurtAChild: Angor had no qualms on killing Jim (a 16-year-old boy) and his friends.
* YourSoulIsMine: With his soul imprisoned within the Inferna Copula, Angor was tasked by Argante to steal the souls of Trollhunters in a futile attempt to fill the void.

----
* ActionGirl: Shows her battling chops as she escapes Camelot alongside Jim, [[spoiler:and later even stands toe-to-toe with none other than ''Gunmar the Black''.]]
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: The other trolls shun her, calling her "Callista the Calamity" and [[spoiler:take her being the first Trollhunter as a sign that working with the humans to fight Gunmar (since giving them the amulet was meant as an olive branch) is doomed to fail]].
* BigDamnHeroes: She has a knack for saving Jim when he's in trouble in Camelot. [[spoiler:Most noticeably, by leading TheCavalry to turn the tide of the Battle of Killahead Bridge.]]
* BigSisterInstinct: She latches onto Jim when the two are imprisoned, treating him as her kid brother. When the shard injuries slow him down, Callista always grabs him and helps him walk.
* CassandraTruth: She laughs when Jim tells her he's a time-traveling Trollhunter that used to be human. Callista quips that by that logic, she's half-goblin. [[spoiler:When she wields the amulet and then realizes their armor matches, Callista realizes he's telling the truth]].
* DeadpanSnarker: Almost every line she has is sarcastic.
* DoomedHometown: Her home was destroyed by Arthur when she was very young and she's been on the run ever since.
* FamedInStory: As it turns out, Callista is quite famous: [[spoiler:she's actually Deya the Deliverer, the very first Trollhunter and the badass who defeated Gunmar's forces.]]
* FoeTossingCharge: Her arrival at [[spoiler:Killahead Bridge]] is shortly followed by her throwing around foes like nobody's business.
* GivenNameReveal: She lost her family and home at such a young age that she no longer remembers her true name, using the human name "Callista" as a placeholder. It's not until she finds one of her old dolls that she rediscovers her true name: [[spoiler:Deya]].
* HartmanHips: She has a larger bottom body and tiny waist, especially with her legs and butt. She uses her massive legs to push a large water bowl to pin down a savage AAARRRGGHH!!!, the Gumm-Gumm general.
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: The years of being called "Callista the Calamity" and an orphan bane to the world clearly left a mark, so she's always carrying herself with some self-deprecating wit. [[spoiler:She only stops after she fully embraces her role as the first Trollhunter.]]
* KnightInSourArmor: She's justifiably cynical about their chances at survival, but keeps coming back to help Jim and her fellow trolls anyways.
* MeaningfulName: Callista means "most beautiful" and is the name of a fabled huntress in Greek mythology, fitting her badass nature. Particularly when [[spoiler:it's revealed she's actually the first Troll''hunter''. Her real name, Deya, also fits like a glove given its phonetic similarity to "day" (the very thing she wields at her command).]]
* PrecursorHeroes: Essentially an early Troll resistance in Camelot, preceding Jim's exploits by centuries. [[spoiler:Even further when revealed she is the first of all Trollhunters.]]
* RefusalOfTheCall: [[spoiler:She is shocked when the Amulet of Daylight chooses her and keeps trying to throw it away. A pep talk from Jim convinces her to take it up just in time for the battle of Killahead Bridge.]]

[[folder:Krubera]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/krubera.png]]

A tribe of bioluminescent trolls who live in the deepest caverns under the Earth's mantle, ruled by Queen Usurna. It's revealed that AAARRRGGHH!!! was born a Krubera before taken by the Gumm-Gumms.
----
* BlindedByTheLight: The Krubera live under the Earth's mantle as they are sensitive to light. AAARRRGGHH!!! is an exception because he hardened himself to survive his time with the Gumm-Gumms.
* TheBrute: According to Draal, the Krubera are bred for combat and trained to kill. Given we've seen what AAARRRGGHH!!! is capable of, it's easy to see why Gunmar made him his top general.
* EveryoneHasStandards: The Krubera initially followed Usurna's cause through blind faith, even joining Gunmar's army without question. However, [[spoiler:they were appalled to learn that [[EvilQueen Usurna]] purposely gave away their younglings to Gunmar instead of kidnapped as they previously thought. This is what helped the Krubera [[HeelFaceTurn redeem themselves]] and remove Usurna from power by leaving her to drown.]]

After getting rid of Usurna, the Krubera join the Trollhunters' cause against Gunmar and some are seen fighting against the Gumm-Gumms during the Eternal Night.]]
* HulkSpeak: Most of the Krubera soldiers speak this way, yet sound more elegant than AAARRRGGHH!!!, whose speech was permanently impaired due to being taken at a young age.
* UndyingLoyalty: [[spoiler:Subverted.]] The Krubera initially followed Queen Usurna through blind faith. But it's implied that this was because Usurna lead them to believe that when their younglings were kidnapped, they likely thought of their queen as a WellIntentionedExtremist just looking out for her people, hence why they joined [[spoiler:Gunmar's army. However, when they overhear that Usurna [[BadBoss never actually cared about her people]] – being willing to selfishly trade younglings to the Gumm-Gumms and all – the Krubera ''immediately'' turn on her.]]
