----
* TheAce
* FourPhilosophyEnsemble: The final four.
** Ethan = The Optimist.
** Kim J. = The Apathetic.
** Lex = The Cynic.
** Big Tom = The Realist.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: The final four again.
** Ethan = Leukine.
** Kim J. = Phlegmatic.
** Lex = Choleric.
** Big Tom = Sanguine.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: The (original) tribe members are notably not in the same age group yet they get along really well, most notably the BigThinShortTrio of Ethan, Lex and Big Tom.
* NakedPeopleAreFunny: The tribe decides unanimously to strip to their underwear during the rescue drop immunity challenge. Granted they won but them taking their clothes off didn't contribute as much to their win as they thought it would
* TeamSpirit: After losing the first three challenges, Boran regrouped and managed to hold it together. Compared to Samburu who imploded due to a power struggle.
* TrueCompanions: Ethan, Lex and Tom are all very close friends ''fifteen years'' after the game's end, and they are still considered one of the tightest alliances in the history of the game.

->'''Members (swap):''' Brandon Quinton, '''Kelly Goldsmith''', Kim Powers, '''Lex van der Berghe''', Lindsey Richter, '''Tom Buchanan'''

----
* AHouseDivided: Compared to Boran, who was super chill the entire time, Samburu was pretty much a trainwreck the entire time.
* DividedWeFall: The separation between generations came to bite them hard in the long run.
* DwindlingParty: They were 4-6 come to the merge, and by the final four, no original Samburu members were left.
* LawOfChromaticSuperiority: Subverted.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: The tribe was split between old and young.
* WeAreStrugglingTogether: They spend more time in-fighting than sticking together against Boran.

The merged tribe of the season.
----
* CurbStompBattle: The Samburu tribe's infighting came to a head at the merge, which put the more cohesive Boran in a de facto alliance. Accordingly, the final four all began at Boran, with the final two having never left it until the merge.

->'''Age/ home/ job:''' 27/ New York, New York/ soccer player
->'''Luxury item:''' hacky sack
->'''Tribe:''' Boran -> Moto Maji
Ethan returned for [[Characters/SurvivorAllStars All-Stars]], [[Characters/SurvivorWinnersAtWar Winners at War]], and competed on Characters/TheAmazingRace19 with [[Characters/SurvivorTheAmazon Jenna Morasca]]

----
* ActuallyPrettyFunny: Ethan clearly found Tom's infamous "HE'S A JEW!" moment more funny than offensive given that he spends that moment doubled over in laughter.
* AfroAsskicker: His most notable physical characteristic.
* AlwaysSecondBest: Obviously averted in the end but Ethan often fell just short of winning challenges due to Lex's immunity run, to a point where Ethan openly told the cameras how tired he was of his own friend winning.
* BlueIsHeroic: Always wears a blue shirt which happens to be the most vibrantly colored shirt on the show
* BrutalHonesty: When Brandon asked Ethan which jury member would be least deserving of being in the Final 2, Ethan bluntly says "You". He did lose Brandon's vote because of that, but it didn't hurt him in the long run.
* ChekhovsGun: Earlier in the season it comes up that Ethan is emetophobic and during the FIC he loses the challenge quickly after seeing a cameraman vomit off screen (though the explanation is left out from the show)
* HeartwarmingInHindsight: The scene where Ethan explores a Kenyan village and plays hackysack with some local kids was the moment that inspired him to create Grassroots Foundation, an organization to fight the AIDS crisis in Africa.
* GoodIsNotSoft: A distinctly nice character, but her organized throwing the challenge to boot Silas.
* InformedJudaism: He obviously looks the part, but any religious beliefs Ethan may have are never mentioned outside of his inability to eat ham.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: His trio with Lex and Big Tom. The former was in his late 30s while the latter was in his mid 40s. Ethan himself was 27 at the time. Also counts with Big Kim, who was in her 50s at the time.
* TheLancer: With Lex as the most prominent voice of the tribe, Ethan was his closest ally and his number two.
* LovableJock: He's a professional soccer player and was pretty good in the physical challenges. He was also an all-around nice guy, which is probably the reason why he won.
* MessianicArchetype: Very early on in the season's airing a message board poster famously predicted his win with a theory based entirely on a perceived prevalence of religious imagery in the edit, with Ethan being positioned as a Christ figure. Whether the theory was accurate or just EpilepticTrees, Ethan fulfilled part of it by becoming the first Jewish winner, the first universally liked winner and one of the most charitable winners post-game.
* NiceGuy: The first universally liked winner because of this and one of the nicest Survivor winners period, putting most of his survivor winnings into starting a charity foundation.
* NoDamageRun: Received no elimination votes and was the first winner to win by more than one jury vote.
* OddFriendship: With Big Tom and Lex specifically.
* TheQuietOne: One of Kelly and Brandon's criticisms of him is his introversion, especially compared to the much more outspoken Lex.
* ReallyGetsAround: In a meta sense, in the early days of Survivor Ethan was known having dated several female survivors which earned him the nickname among fans as the Survival village bicycle.
* SoleSurvivor: The third.
* TallDarkAndHandsome: Forty seasons later and Ethan still shows up on most "Most Attractive Male Survivors" rankings
* VitriolicBestBuds: Ethan references this trope directly when talking about his friendship with Big Tom.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:2nd. "Big" Kim Johnson]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s3_kim_johnson.jpg]]
->'''Age/ home/ job:''' 56/ Oyster Bay, New York/ retired teacher
->'''Luxury item:''' paints and paintbrush
->'''Tribe:''' Boran -> Moto Maji

----
* ChekhovsGun: Kim's luxury item was a set of acrylic paints. They would be used in the SOS Challenge, giving Boron their first immunity win.
* CoolOldLady: Kim was the oldest person by Birthdate to make it to the final tribal council.[[note]]Kim was the oldest person, in general, to make it to Day 39 and Final Tribal Council until [[Characters/SurvivorGabon Bob Crowley]] made it to the end at 57 years old while Kim was 56 at the time of filming.[[/note]]
* CoolTeacher: Her job before retiring.
* DownToTheLastPlay: The only reason Tom and Lex were the fourth and third placers was that she somehow won two clutch immunities.
* GracefulLoser: She picks Ethan because she would lose no matter what.
* LethalChef: According to Big Tom, the mush she made was inedible. Ethan says it's not good, too.
* NeverMessWithGranny: Outlasting Lex and Ethan in terrible heat and physical exhaustion during the last Immunity Challenge, despite being respectively twenty and thirty years older than them.
* OneSteveLimit: With Kim Powers. The first instance in the show's history. To differentiate them, she's typically referred to as Big Kim.
* OutOfFocus: Despite being a finalist, she doesn't get as much content as Lex or other, much more dynamic personalities, despite outlasting all of them.
* PluckyGirl: The moment T-bird was eliminated, Kim found herself at the bottom of the Boran alliance, but she managed to make it to the final two,
%%* ThePollyanna
* UndyingLoyalty: To Ethan. When Teresa repeatedly pleads with Kim to flip on Ethan and says that he's too dangerous to keep in the game, Kim immediately turns to Ethan and tells him everything before commenting on the audacity of Teresa to think she'd flip.

!The Jury

[[folder:3rd. Alexis "Lex" van den Berghe]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s3_lex_van_den_berghe.jpg]]
->'''Age/ home/ job:''' 38/ Santa Cruz, California/ marketing manager
->'''Luxury item:''' child's baby shoes
->'''Tribe:''' Boran -> Samburu -> Moto Maji

Lex later returned for [[Characters/SurvivorAllStars All-Stars]].
----
* TheAce: He won ''five'' individual challenges (three immunities and two rewards), and even when he didn't win, he still got to go on most of the rewards as a tag along. Jeff Probst lampshaded this when Lex won the reward where he got to go to the Massai Mara National Reserve:
-->'''Jeff Probst:''' It seems like every time I turn around, I'm handing you something. Now I'm handing you my Visa card.
* BerserkButton: Teresa voting for him instead of Clarence gives the viewers their first real glimpse at Lex in a much less flattering light than he'd been portrayed before that point; he goes into a paranoid rage, vowing to figure out who voted for him and get rid of them immediately (and doesn't even get it right).
* TheCharmer: One of the reasons he was so threatening. Most of the contestants who've played with him have said that he's ''very'' persuasive and likable when he's not too busy being a paranoid {{Jerkass}}.
* TheChessmaster: Did the heavily lifting in his alliances.
* ControlFreak: His outburst when he learned someone voted for him, doing everything he can to find out who it was and eventually getting Kelly eliminated for the mere ''suspicion'' of her voting him out.
* DeathGlare: Not intentionally. He just has really intense-looking eyes when he's frustrated.
* DiabolusExMachina: Getting sick on ''the second to last day, during the final immunity challenge!''
* EvilGenius/TheSmartGuy: The big strategist this time around.
* IdiotBall: During the merge, Lex gave up a 6-4 lead for his Boran tribe by voting out Clarence, and almost gets voted out himself in the next round because Kelly was sick of him and wanted to defect to the Samburu's. In a very close vote (5-4), Kelly left instead of Lex, but only because Brandon was holding an even bigger one by becoming a defector to Boran.
* ImproperlyParanoid: It's true that he was a challenge threat and cutthrout strategist, but he goes on a wild goose chase for stray vote and almost gets himself kicked out early for the trouble. He was lucky the person that ''did'' leave that night was Kelly, his prime suspect, who he was ultimately wrong about. He continues to have this problem up until his elimination, and [[JerkassWoobie said he was still having nightmares of paranoia for the first few months he got home]].
* IneffectualDeathThreats: He threatens to (literally) slit the throat of whoever votes against him at several points(to be fair though, one of these threats was during a confessional). Thankfully, he never follows up on any of them.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Ethan (20s) and Big Tom (40s). Lex himself was 36-37 at the time of the competition.
* ManipulativeBastard: Part of his strategy as TheCharmer.
* MoralMyopia: Has no problem with voting for anyone else however he wants, but the moment he got even ''one'' vote cast against him he had a huge FreakOut.
* {{Narrator}}: Lex has the most confessionals out of anyone with 85 (though not excessively like what you find in recent seasons), and is pretty eloquent in them too.
* OddFriendship: With Big Tom and Ethan, considering how different the three are from one another and yet maintained a friendship that lasted beyond the show.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Lex is in his late thirties during ''Africa''.
* SanitySlippage: He gets increasingly paranoid as the game goes on, to the detriment of his relationships with his alliance. In his Reddit AMA, he said that after the game he had trouble sleeping indoors, was haunted by nightmares for weeks and had difficulty trusting the people around him, including his family.
* SpikyHair: Definitely has that trapping of the TheQuincyPunk.
* TattooedCrook: Subverted. According to his AMA, he was almost not cast because his personality didn't match his appearance. He is a loving family man that's intelligent and complex instead of a thuggish brute.
* ViewersAreGeniuses: His viewpoint that people are smarter than CBS gives them credit for because they believed that people would find Lex too confusing on account of the above. Not only was CBS proven wrong, but Lex also became one of the more iconic players of the series.
* WitchHunt: He started one after receiving a vote against him that he wasn't expecting. See BerserkButton above.
* WorthyOpponent: Both finalists agree that Lex definitely deserved a spot as a finalist and didn't hesitate when asked about it.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:4th. "Big" Tom Buchanan]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s3_tom_buchanan.jpg]]
->'''Age/ home/ job:''' 45/ Rich Valley, Virginia/ goat farmer
->'''Luxury item:''' raccoon penis
->'''Tribe:''' Boran -> Samburu -> Moto Maji

Big Tom returned for [[Characters/SurvivorAllStars All-Stars]].
----
* BigFun: The funniest person of the season.
* TheBigGuy: It's in the nickname, after all. Fans have commented on him being even bigger in person.
* CantTakeCriticism: Though he was always going to vote for Ethan, his diatribe towards Kim reeks of this. She had previously said that he was sexist and that she didn't learn anything from him and he got really mad, despite not showing any animosity previously.
* CoolOldGuy: Among the oldest people in the game, and a textbook example of BigFun.
* DirtyOldMan: Waxes philosophic about pulling a tick out of Lindsay's butt before slapping it, openly states a not-so-wholesome attraction to Teresa and splashes water on Kim P's chest repeatedly while showering with the whole tribe.
* DrunkenMaster: Ethan accredited Big Tom to carry him to the end.
* FarmBoy: He's a goat farmer.
* HiddenDepths: Knows enough about Judaism to know that Ethan can't eat pork and is nigh-unbeatable at checkers.
* GentleGiant: He's energetic, somewhat weird and deceptive, has slight moments of bigotry this time around, but ultimately a NiceGuy who isn't threatening for any physical reason.
* GoodOlBoy: Cast as this archetype, but older than many examples. [[YoungerThanTheyLook And looks even older than that]].
* InnocentBigot: "HE'S A JEW, HE CAN'T EAT HAM!". Ethan didn't really mind, though.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Ethan (late 20s) and Lex (late 30s).
* LargeHam: Especially when it comes to ham!
* {{Mooning}}: During the S.O.S Message Immunity Challenge, Tom moons everyone with a black feather stuck up his butt.
* NoodleIncident: The time he walked into a bar not realizing it was a gay bar.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Some of the tribe speculate that Tom is playing up his redneck background so that no one suspects him. He admitted this after the show, and it was proven on it with his skill in checkers and strategizing with Lex.
* RacistGrandpa: There were a lot of racist undertones regarding his treatment of Clarence. Calling him boy (something he doesn't call the others), wanting to shoot him and giving him a "warning vote".
** Also, yelling about Ethan being a Jew during the auction was questionable, (even though Ethan [[ActuallyPrettyFunny found it hilarious]]).
* TakeThat: His jury "question" was pretty much just a shot at Kim's cooking.
* TheUnintelligible: Because of his thick accent and habit for speaking far too fast to articulate.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Ethan ''and'' Lex.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: Tom was 45 during ''Africa''. Does he look it?
[[/folder]]

[[folder:5th. Teresa "T-Bird" Cooper]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s3_teresa_cooper.jpg]]
->'''Age/ home/ job:''' 42/ Jackson, Georgia/ flight attendant
->'''Luxury item:''' lucky bullet necklace
->'''Tribe:''' Samburu -> Boran -> Moto Maji

Teresa was a Candidate for [[Characters/SurvivorCambodia The second Chance season]] but failed to get enough votes to return.
----
* BeneathSuspicion: She had a clear motive for voting for Lex (voting for Clarence would have been dishonorable), but no one connects the dots that she might have done it because she's so sweet and trustworthy.
* CassandraTruth: She brings up the idea of voting Ethan out, knowing that his kindness and physical prowess would probably grant him the victory. She's ignored and Ethan ends up winning.
* DeusExMachina: The first-ever tribe switch. It doesn't let her win the game, but she goes a hell of a lot further than if she were still in the Samburu tribe. She managed to outlast the Mall Rats after they did their best to pick them off.
* LastOfTheirKind: She's the final Samburu member.
* MileHighClub: During the merge icebreaker game, she admits that she has done this.
* OddFriendship: Her and Frank, as she’s much more socially conscious.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Referred to as "T" and/or "T-Bird" way, way, more than her actual name.
* PluckyGirl: By the time Brandon was voted off, she tried to do everything to stay alive in the game, knowing that she was on the chopping block by being on Samburu.
* SouthernFriedGenius: In terms of game strategy she was deceptively cunning and never stopped trying to come up with ways to break up the Boran alliance even when she was the last Samburu tribe member left.
* TeamMom: Of the original Samburu tribe. She later shares the role with Kim Johnson in the combined Maji Moto tribe. Ethan even calls her his safe space during the Final Tribal Council.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Not for herself, but she sowed the seeds of discord when she voted Lex instead of Clarence during the latter's boot. She did it because Clarence was an honorable man, but this drove Lex into a paranoid frenzy which got Kelly booted.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:6th. "Little" Kim(berly) Powers]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s3_kim_powers.jpg]]
->'''Age/ home/ job:''' 29/ Conoshocken, Pennsylvania/ marketer
->'''Luxury item:''' string necklace
->'''Tribe:''' Samburu -> Moto Maji

----
* TheCutie: Attempts to fill the role that [[Characters/SurvivorBorneo Colleen Haskell]] and [[Characters/SurvivorTheAustralianOutback Elisabeth Filarski]] did before her.
* EtTuBrute: Kim was shocked that Brandon flipped on Samburu.
* GirlyGirl: To her Samburu "Mall Rat" alliance.
* MaleGaze: Not usually, but we get a lot of shots of her butt when the tribe showers together.
* MsFanservice: Considered the "hot chick" of the season.
* OneSteveLimit: With Kim Johnson. To differentiate them, she's often referred to as Little Kim.
%%* ThePollyanna
* RunawayFiance: She considers this to be her greatest accomplishment, but her mom thinks otherwise.
* {{Shorttank}}: Not too big a focus, but an atheltic and attractive woman who is present most of the game.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:7th. Frank(lin) Garrison]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s3_frank_garrison.jpg]]
->'''Age/ home/ job:''' 43/ Odessa, New York/ telephone technician
->'''Luxury item:''' whitetail antlers
->'''Tribe:''' Samburu -> Boran -> Moto Maji

----
* ButtMonkey: He's anti-social and a little rough around the edges, and in a social game like ''Survivor'', you do not want to be this.
* TheComicallySerious: Occasionally filled this role. For example, in a game of I Never, the raunchiest thing he could think of was dishonoring a handshake.
* CrazySurvivalist: In one episode he said that if he weren't playing the game for his friends or family, he would dump all the water and food that wasn't his own so the younger, brattier members of his tribe would suffer. Also, in one interview post-show, he said he regretted that he wasn't able to hunt on the national preserve they were stranded in.
* DeadpanSnarker: Anytime somebody criticized him or he perceived somebody as criticizing him:
-->'''Carl''': Hey Frank, what branch of the service were you in?"
-->'''Frank''': I was in the American branch. It's called ''freedom''.
* DeusExMachina: Though all it accomplished was letting him reach the jury stage, he would have been the next on Samburu's hit list had the tribe swap not happened.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: His comment about being in the American Freedom branch immediately pegs him as a patriotic conservative.
* HiddenDepths: Both supported and subverted. Frank at first came off like a two-dimensional FishOutOfWater curmudgeon with [[StrawmanPolitical conservative]] values, but in later episodes, it was obvious that there was a lot more nuance to his personality (like when he waxed philosophic when he watched the sunrise). It didn't dispel anyone's preconceptions, but it did make them see there was more to the guy.
* HilarityEnsues: During his movie date reward with card-carrying CampGay member Brandon.
* GunNut: On his boot episode, he becomes uncharacteristically chatty and starts talking about gun control and how liberals are stupid for wanting to take away their guns. It makes everyone, particularly Lex, uncomfortable.
* InformedFlaw: Downplayed. Though he's obviously a right-leaning political, he's primarily depicted as just old-fashioned and aloof. However, the new Samburu believe that he'd cast votes on Brandon from bigotry, and Brandon himself tanked his own game because he didn't want to be associated with somebody as hateful as Frank. It was only on his boot episode that the extent of his fanaticism was shown, when ''Teresa'' of all people talks about how uncomfortable he makes everyone. Even then it was just his opinions on gun rights, nothing as "hateful" as Brandon accused him of being. His contempt towards Brandon was for a valid reason, that being Brandon's refusal to pull his own weight around camp.
* JadedWashout: ''To his tribe''. Off the show; he ironically seems to be a pretty happy guy, being well adjusted with a loving family.
* KnightInSourArmor: Especially after Carl left and the Mall Rats(an alliance of the younger tribe members) took over Samburu.
* NoSocialSkills: What gets him in hot water with the rest of the tribe, being a loner with a curt attitude. He even notes that he's much better with animals than with people.
* OddFriendship: Him and Teresa, and Big Tom as well.
* OldSoldier: Aside from multiple references to his military past; he is blatantly militaristic, conservative, and a gun nut.
* SeinfeldianConversation: There was a somewhat lengthy segment on how Frank doesn't know what the term "brunch" means.
* TeamDad: Fills this role in the original Samburu tribe, being their provider.
* UnusualEuphemism: "Linda's so solid, she's buried at the bottom of the Hoover Dam.". This was about Linda being attractive; and if the context wasn't given, you'd never know what he meant.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:8th. Brandon Quinton]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s3_brandon_quinton.jpg]]
->'''Age/ home/ job:''' 25/ Dallas, Texas/ bartender
->'''Luxury item:''' lip balm
->'''Tribe:''' Samburu -> Moto Maji

----
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: In his boot episode, Brandon said he rather be voted next than being in an alliance with Frank. Guess What happened.
* CampGay: To be fair about it though, Brandon wasn't weak in the challenges and stood up for himself. His personality though was as gay as a three-dollar bill.
* FalseFriend: In the episode after Lindsey’s vote-off (where she became very emotional and said she was happy she hasn’t betrayed her “friend” Brandon), Brandon drags her name through the mud in a confessional, deriding her for being whiny and saying he’s glad he doesn’t have to deal with her anymore.
* HilarityEnsues: When Brandon and Frank won an obstacle course reward challenge and got to see the movie ''Out Of Africa'' together at a drive-in.
* HonorBeforeReason: one of the reasons he tanked his game was because he hated Frank's beliefs and refused to continue working with him.
* IdiotBall: Defecting from Samburu by voting for Kelly, instead of sticking with his tribe and voting out Lex.
* {{Jerkass}}: Had very few nice things to say about anyone.
* MilitaryBrat: According to his [[AllThereInTheManual pre-game profile]].
* OddCouple: Brandon and Frank during the drive-in movie trip they won together.
* TheQuisling: He prevented his Samburu tribemates and Boran defector Kelly from having a shot at voting off Boran leader Lex out of a petty dislike for and refusal to work with Frank. [[RewardedAsATraitorDeserves He was then promptly voted out by everyone]] ''[[RewardedAsATraitorDeserves except]]'' [[RewardedAsATraitorDeserves for Lex]].
* SmugSnake: Seemed deeply confident that he had a good mind for game strategy, and then he made probably the stupidest move of the entire game by turning on Samburu and joining Lex (whilst at the same time confirming to the ''other''' members of the Boran alliance that he wasn't trustworthy at all).
* SpannerInTheWorks: Pretty much screws over Teresa's, and by extension Samburu's, chances at winning the game by flipping over to Boran despite Kelly being the swing vote of a 4-4 split.
* StopBeingStereotypical: He revealed during the reunion show, that he wanted to dispel the stereotype of the flamboyant gay guy who parties all the time. He was disappointed that he wasn't able to do so.
* TemptingFate: See Be Careful what you wish for.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:9th. Kelly Goldsmith]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s3_kelly_goldsmith.jpg]]
->'''Age/ home/ job:''' 24/ San Diego, California/ behavior psychologist
->'''Luxury item:''' crochet needles and yarn
->'''Tribe:''' Boran -> Samburu -> Moto Maji

----
* AntiVillain: Only flipped because of Lex targeting her because he wrongfully believed that Kelly voted against him.
* BadassAdorable
* TheCassandra: She was the first one to point out Lex's massive ego and hypocrisy [[MoralMyopia when it comes to him voting out friends and allies at the drop of a hat but freaking out when he gets even ''one'' vote cast against him]]. No one listened to her, though nobody in that season really got it in the same way she did.
* DeadpanSnarker
* DeathByPragmatism: When she realizes that she was getting the boot, Kelly did the only sensible thing and flipped to Samburu. However, Brandon's flip still gotten her voted out.
* TheHeart: To her Boran tribe.
* {{Jerkass}}: She doesn't always show it, but it came up at times such as her final tribal council speech and saying Frank should be put on medication to cure his introversion.
* JerkassHasAPoint: She is clearly bitter at the final tribal council about how she was voted off. However, given that Ethan and Kim helped boot her at least four councils earlier than planned[[note]]Though we don't know the exact payout structure of the runners-up on Survivor, [[https://www.cinemablend.com/television/2557322/how-much-money-do-survivor-contestants-make there's evidence to support that being ejected four episodes early would have reduced Kelly's final payout significantly]][[/note]] on the [[WitchHunt mere suspicion of her casting a single vote against Lex]] without either of them even ''trying'' to get her side of the story, she has every right to feel betrayed by her former teammates and not want to support either one of them.
* LargeHam: In her Final Jury vote.
* ManipulativeBitch: Subverted. She listed "Manipulating men" as one of her hobbies on her application, but she actually does not do this in the show and is a decent person - in fact, the only reason she put it on there in the first place was so she would get cast.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Took the [[Characters/SurvivorBorneo Sue Hawk]] approach to her jury question at the final tribal council.

* TheAtoner: By the time he got voted out in 10th, he'd more than redeemed himself for his earlier transgressions regarding his appetite.
* BeingGoodSucks: Decides to feed Diane because she wasn't feeling good and it bites him in the ass, placing him at the bottom of the totem pole when the merge happened.
* BigEater: Half of Clarence's story arc revolved around him being hungry all the time and eating food whenever he could get his hands on it.
* TheBigGuy: The reason why he wasn't voted out after eating the Beans is that he was capable in challenges unlike Diane and later Jessie.
* YouLoseAtZeroTrust: Subverted. A pretty big deal was made over him eating extra cherries and a can of beans. Normally, that would be cause enough to kick most people out but he was a physical asset. When his time came, he'd made up for his mistakes and they acknowledged that he'd grown as a person. He wasn't kicked out because they couldn't trust him, but because he was a physical threat.

----
* AlphaBitch: Was very condescending towards the older tribe after Carl's vote-off and she often liked to brag about being up for anything. She got better, though.
* ChekhovsBoomerang: The votes against her in her first Tribal Council, with Silas use it to keep the other tribe members safe and with her friends trying to protect her.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: The moment she and Tom were tied, she started saying her goodbyes before the revote, knowing she already had four against her.
* LadyMacbeth: As Silas rose to power, she became his right-hand woman and her cruelty towards the older Samburu rose to a head.
* MsFanservice: She’s quite pretty. Even a nasty scrape she receives on her cheek mostly just accentuates it.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: Or at least having a tribal swap and subsequent vote off equals redemption.
* TheScapegoat: This was the period where ties were resolved based on previous votes against you. Lindsey already had four, so Silas wanted her to be a lightning rod of votes so that no one else would be at risk when the merge happened. This didn't work out for three reasons: the older people thought Silas was duplicitous and cast votes against him, Brandon and Kim P. wanted to draw attention away from her to keep their numbers, and she was ultimately voted off pre-merge.

* ArcVillain: Of the first half of the season.
* AssholeVictim: Fell victim to a major twist, had his entire new tribe pretty much conspire to take him out by all but throwing an immunity challenge to get rid of him, and since it was ''Silas'' there wasn't exactly a huge uproar from the fanbase.
* BackstabBackfire: See below in Cosmic Plaything.
* CosmicPlaything: In what is perhaps the ultimate example of HoistByHisOwnPetard in ''Survivor'', Silas was the first victim of the tribal swap, a twist he never could have predicted. What's worse was that the swap took place only a week after he betrayed the people he initially aligned with so he could be the leader of Samburu, and the people he got stuck with were the very people he betrayed!
* DiabolusExMachina: He was a dominant leader of Samburu until he became the first-ever victim of the tribe swap. He had no way of trying to rectify his situation. Granted, he did put himself in that situation.
* DiscOneFinalBoss: Was one of the main antagonists in the first four episodes, only to get voted off in the fifth after a tribe swap.
* DoNotCallMePaul: Was originally known as Chip, but insisted before the game started that everyone calls him Silas instead.
* GracefulLoser: For all his smugness, he did take his ouster very well especially when compared to later ''Survivor'' "villains".
* SmallRoleBigImpact: For how well he's known by the fandom, you wouldn't really expect him to be a ''fifth boot''.
* StepfordSmiler: Had a habit of grinning really wide when something pissed him off.

* ArmorPiercingQuestion: Silas and the younger people noted a split in their tribe and the older people were getting picked off. He wanted to direct all of the older tribe's votes towards Lindsay to use her as a scapegoat until she asked "What's in it for us?" The older tribe members then voted him so that he'd be in a precarious position in case he ever had a tie vote against him.
* CloudCuckoolander: The younger tribe noted that she had two sides to her. One was a kindly mother figure, the other was a crazy woman. The latter facet often surfaced.
* DefiantToTheEnd: She and the rest of the old people were on the chopping block and Silas wanted them to follow his instructions to keep the rest of the tribe safe. They refused to do that because he was an asshole and, on her boot episode, wrote down his name despite him being completely safe.
* HolierThanThou: Averted, although she did often bring up her belief that the gods were invoking bad luck on her tribe for its disharmony.
* InspirationallyDisadvantaged: According to her [[AllThereInTheManual Bio]] Linda beat out cancer.
* SanitySlippage: According to Brandon.

* DeadStarWalking: Jessie had one of the highest pre-show scores in the popularity poll on CBS.com, and was one of the players the commercials focused on most. Needless to say, her popularity dropped dramatically after the first episode showed her being sick and unable to actively compete in challenges and plot strategy back at camp.
