!UX (Unknown X-trikers)
[[folder:Agnes "Agni" Berge]]
[[quoteright:289:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/agnes_7.png]]
-> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/ChihiroSuzuki

A 19-year old ensign-ranked pilot belonging to the EFF forces in North America. Raised with his parents, Agnes grew up in the facility and treats them all as his family. He’s a serious and gentle character but shows his strength and determination when the lives of others are in danger. Agnes also values the lives of others more than anything and will do everything he can to protect those around him, even if it means standing up against much stronger foes. He pilots the Riot B, a customized unit used in close combat and later [[spoiler:inherits the Orphes from Richard]].
----
* {{BFS}}: The Riot B's Proton Saber (Maximum Output) and the Odyssea's sword during the End of Rebirth attack.
* CharacterDevelopment: Arnie started out somewhat of a douchebag, but after being captured by UX and seeing Richard, he realized there needs to be a justice outside of laws like UX and aspires to become like Richard. The fact that he was willing to pilot the Orphes, knowing what it could do to his body is telling. [[spoiler:After Richard's death, he immediately inherited Richard's role to honor his legacy and he has the same characteristics as him in Act 3, let alone being more carefree and cautious in battle.]]
* ChildhoodFriends: He grew up with Jin, making their eventual confrontations even harder for him.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: He has red eyes and reddish-brown hair.
* DecoyProtagonist: [[spoiler:Not him, but rather his initial machine, Riot B. Despite what the promotional material and the first two stages suggest, it isn't the official MC mech of UX; Richard's Orphes is, and Agni doesn't start piloting that until Stage 11.]]
* {{Determinator}}: He will rush in to protect his allies whenever they get into a bad situation, and he won't back down even when the enemy is significantly more powerful than him.
* DudeLooksLikeALady: His portrait as of Act 3 makes him look like more like a woman than previously.
* {{Expy}}: Of [[VideoGame/TalesOfTheAbyss Luke fon Fabre]] due to having the same seiyuu and the stance of the Riot B's Proton Saber (Maximum Output). Somewhat in personality as well, [[spoiler: after their CharacterDevelopment later on.]]
** [[spoiler:Orphes and Odyssea, on the other hand, is one to ''[[Series/{{Hissatsu}} Hissatsu]]'' [[Series/{{Hissatsu}} series]], a Japanese JidaiGeki title, where assassins use a variety of weapons to kill criminals. Lots of Agnes's combat lines are also taken from that series; and don't even mention the BGM used during End of Rebirth]].
* FieryRedhead: Subverted. Despite his reddish shade of hair, he's more mild-mannered compared to his aggressive blue-haired friend Jin.
* GenderBlenderName: "Agnes' is usually a name you see on girls.
* HelloInsertNameHere: You can name him what you want, as nobody has voiced lines where they say his name; whenever Saya supports him during gameplay, she simply refers to him as "Ensign."
* InSeriesNickname: "Agni," which is always what people refer to him as if they're not calling him "Ensign Berge."
* KatanasAreJustBetter: [[spoiler:Odyssea wields a glowing energy katana during End of Rebirth attack]].
* {{Leitmotif}}: Changes based on the situation:
** "Fighting Spirit to The Future" (when piloting the Riot B)
** "The Shadow-Cutting Darkness" (when piloting Orphes)
** "To Awaken is the Will of Man" (when piloting [[spoiler:Odyssia]])
** "The Howling Deathblow" (when using the final attack for the Orphes[[spoiler:or Odyssea]]).
* MidSeasonUpgrade: He gets two in the form of the Orphes[[spoiler:and the overpowered Odyssea]].
* NaiveNewcomer: When he first meets Richard and Saya, they act like a bunch of comedians to fool him, and even after finding out they're with the UX, he still believes they're better off living as actors/comedians (comic story tellers) than mercenaries.
* NiceGuy: In contrast to Jin, he's kind and accepting.
* [[NinjaPirateZombieRobot Ninja Mech]]: The Orphes, [[spoiler:and later the Odyssea,]] has noticeable ninja traits.
* RedOniBlueOni: Played with; The Riot A is red while the Riot B is blue. However, Jin has the calm blue eyes whereas Agnes has the red eyes.
* SpellMyNameWithanS: Arnie or Annie? Well he is a male...
* SuperPrototype: The Riot B (along with the Riot A) are the basis for the mass-produced Riot Cs.
** The Orphes [[spoiler:and later the more overpowered Odyssea are equipped with the powerful Lepton Vector Engine]].
* SupportingProtagonist: He might be the primary viewpoint character, but Saya is more important to the overall story.
* VocalEvolution: His voice is significantly deeper by Act 3.

[[quoteright:323:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/saya_5.png]]

Saya is an 18-year-old mercenary working with the organization called Unknown Strikers. she’s a pro among pros that never lets her emotions interfere with any given mission, often sent on undercover missions but her weakness is not being able to express non-combat related feelings. She pilots the support fighter Lyrath, which is equipped with the Lepton Vector Engine.
----
* AceCustom: The Lyrath is her personal machine.
* AloofDarkHairedGirl: She has black hair and a generally [[TheStoic stoic]] dispostion.
* ArtificialHuman: [[spoiler:Saya is an artificial life-form created to control both Orphes and Lyrath' "Particle Acceleration Reactor".]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: "The Shadow-Cutting Darkness" and "The Radiance of Life" [[spoiler:in the stages following Odyssia's debut]].
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Due to Richard not wanting anyone to find out their identity during undercover missions, she acts like a foreigner who speaks bad English and a comedy gag to make sure they aren't found suspicious by being so serious.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Saya is serious during battle, but has a hard time conveying her personal feelings properly.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: [[spoiler:At one point, She mentions she's a failure since she's incapable of fully controlling it which resulted Richard and even Agnes's life depletion. Seeing her in pain, Agnes still comforts her that "it's alright".]]

[[quoteright:213:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/richard_7.png]]
-> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/JurotaKosugi

Saya's father and also a member of the Unknown Strikers Mercenary group. Considered as a patriot in the battlefield, Richard does countless unrecognized jobs for his country that cannot be seen by the public. He pilots the mysterious unit Orphes, a close combat unit equipped with the Lepton Vector Engine.
----
* AceCustom: Orphes
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: The Hell Stringer Technique is basically a combination attack with the Lyrath that uses the Lepton Vector Engine. He uses it to bent the space & time, so he could survive. His body was already screwed up by then and that use pretty much was the final nail.
* ForbiddenChekhovsGun: The Orphes' Lepton Vector Engine which is a portable "Particle Acceleration Reactor". Basically what it can do is bypass space and time but the problem is that it damages human organs through continuous use. Think of it kinda like a semi-time machine but the pilot's getting microwaved.
* GameBreakingInjury: [[spoiler: During Scenario 10, Richard gets hospitalized because he took damage when being out in the field to defend the ship. The ships took damage to the departure hatches and robots as well got hit by the Magnetic storms, and he was probably one of the only ones that could sortie.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: Richard sacrifices himself during the Mazinkaiser SKL finale, in the stead of Kaidou and Magami who would most likely have survived like in the OVA.]]
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: He considers himself to be good-for-nothing and can be rather hard on himself, one such example is how he would accept a meal only after completing a mission which he considers worthy.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "The Shadow-Cutting Darkness". "The Howling Deathblow" is also associated with him due to the cutscenes in which he uses the Hell Stringer.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: He takes up a foreigner act and starts talking mixture of easy words from languages to pretend he's not a serious mercenary when he's on cover missions with Saya, Agnes is completely fooled by this and thinks they are comedians (comic story tellers).
* SetRightWhatOnceWentWrong: [[spoiler: Apparently, Richard came from the past 200 years back part of the victim of the "Odysseite" test which transferred him not in the present era but in the 30 years future (the Future where he meets Katou Kikan [Linebarrel]) and Prof. Noble again and she gave her Orphes and Lyrath plus Saya which while using "Lepton Vectra" brought them to the present era. And so since he saw the outcome of the future (which apparently the world ends from what Katou Kikan mentions), Richard was trying to change the future.]]

-> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/MasayaMatsukaze
----
* AceCustom: The Riot A [[spoiler:and later the Vijaya]].
* AntiVillain: As of Act 2, where he's working towards a noble goal through questionable means.
* {{BFG}}: Wields one when piloting the Riot A [[spoiler:and the Vijaya]].
* ChildhoodFriends: He grew up with Agnes, which only added to his feelings of betrayal upon first seeing him with the UX.
* DeadPersonConversation: [[spoiler: Jin gives Agnes a pep-talk during the final stage after his death in a previous stage.]]
* EnemyMine: [[spoiler:Jin may be opposed to UX, but he nonetheless decides to join forces with them in Scenario 45 to help fight the [[Manga/LinebarrelsOfIron Human Machina]]]].
* EvilCounterpart: [[spoiler:Vijaya is one for Orphes]].
* GoodAllAlong: [[spoiler:Arnie and Saya get to have a conversation with Jin and Ayul where Arnie fully realizes that Jin truly has no ill intent. Jin just really, really wants to stop the apocalypse from coming about and will do anything to defeat you to make that happen]].
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Fighting Spirit to The Future" (when piloting the Riot B) [[spoiler:and "The Proud Challengers" (when piloting Vijaya)]].
* MercyKill: [[spoiler:If anyone defeats the Red Riot in Scenario 45, the Particle Accelerator Reactor in it becomes unstable. Jin, acting quickly, shoots down his subordinate so that he doesn't have to suffer. Because this would also kill many others in the vicinity.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: Played with; The Riot A is red while the Riot B is blue. However, Jin has the calm blue eyes whereas Agnes has the red eyes.
* TheRival: For Agnes.
* SuperPrototype: The Riot B (along with the Riot A) are the basis for the mass-produced Riot Cs.

Professor Noble's 17-year-old daughter. She becomes Jin's partner as the pilot of the Trauba.
----
* AntiVillain: Even moreso than Jin, as she never shows any animosity towards the heroes even when she helps villainous groups.
* ArtificialHuman: She artificially created by Professor Noble.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "The Proud Challengers".
* TheRival: Serves as a rival to Saya. [[spoiler:Technically doubles as a SiblingRivalry]].

[[folder:Noble Dylan (UNMARKED SPOILERS)]]
[[quoteright:299:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/noval.png]]
-> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/{{Yukana}}

A scientist for the Earth Federation, responsible for the creation of the Riot series of machines.
----
* AceCustom: The Avatara serves as her one-of-a-kind machine.
* BigBad: It's revealed that she's behind most of the game's events... [[SubvertedTrope but not for the reason you would expect.]] It wasn't until the final stage that it's revealed everything she did was to ensure UX was ready to defeat Kali Yuga and break the cycle.
* GoodAllAlong: In the final stage, it's revealed that all of her seemingly malicious actions: creating Erbsünde, pitting Jin against Agni, working with Black Lodge... Were all for the sake of ensuring that UX has what it takes to finally defeat Kali Yuga and put an end to the cycle of death and rebirth.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "The Proud Challengers".
* MeaningfulName: Avatara is a pun of the word Avatar.
* PastLifeMemories: Professor Noble retains memories from the previous life of the universe, and is trying to find a way to overcome the end of the universe.
* TakingAThirdOption: After the heroes broke the time loop, their combined possibilities threatened to spread out and attract corruption from outside the universe. Kali Yuga attempted to stop this by returning all of their possibilities to chaos. However, Noble found a third way: combining all of the possibilities into one.
* WalkingSpoiler: It becomes clear that she's more than just an attractive Federation scientist, to the point where it's hard to talk about her without spoiling some major event.
* WaveMotionGun: The strongest weapon of her Avatara are a pair of shoulder-mounted cannons.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Her ultimate goal is to free the universe from its endless cycle, and she's willing to do whatever it takes to do it.

!Kali Yuga
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kali_2.png]]
-> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/NaokoMatsui

A system designed to return all possibilities to chaos when they become too much for the universe to bear, allowing another Yuga to begin. She is both the goddess who saves the universe and a devil of destruction.
----
* AboveGoodAndEvil: Basically speaking, as she is summoned into the chaotic world, she'll bring about TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt and wipe out all life, both good and evil.
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: She is the biggest unit in the game at a Size 3L. Due to this, she gets massive size attack damage mods on most of your units and even gets them against the battleships in the game.
* JustFollowingOrders: She's an artificial construct created to prevent the universe's destruction by regularly committing omnicide, and she does just that, again and again.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "The End of Yuga."
* LightIsNotGood: Despite her holy appearance, she's trying to bring about the end of the universe.
* PhysicalGoddess: She's referred to by most of the characters as a god, and given that she's ended the universe multiple times in the past, the title isn't just for show.
